3 Attachment(s)
Era: Late
Map: King of the Hill (50 vp). http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=35876
Mods: cCBM
Ulmish Civil War
llamachris banners.
Victory: 3 capitals held 3 turns, or 50 vp.

Rules: Each faction will be named after an Ulmish count (aka Player).
A. *no diplomacy game*. Purely mano-a-mano, no holds bared vampiric fury. Ie., please no coordinating with other players, no trading. This is a game to test the might of your ideas, not the suaveness of your social skills =)
B. No fort on VP province.

Ok. Things I didn't do: I didn't restrict pretenders. And I gave ulm a 25% production bonus - can some one tell me what the LA-Ulm bonus is?

Also, you are going to have to rename the mods to whatever llama requires.

Oooh a slightly strange game.. sign me up. That is if you don't mind having someone who's likely to get beaten fairly quick...
Ooh and I would have thought a bit of diplomatic manuevering would be thematic, but hey its your game and I'm happy either way.

I have never even looked at late Ulm....but I love the idea of a low magic tactical game. Let me mess around in SP with it tonight and if you don't fill up I will let you know tomorrow...Thanks

I am playing LA Ulm in betelgeuse and am in a few games already otherwise I would join in; I love the idea.

Grudgebringer - I think you should expect a lot of magic, most especially lots of vampires. LA Ulm is quite different to MA!

Having said that this sounds like a lot of fun. Sadly, llama is busy. :(

I don't have time to play, but I like the idea. :)

With the war of the rings looming and my March 7th wedding coming up....I errrrr better pass on this one, although I have wanted to do something like this for a long time.

Hope it gets off the ground and I can play in the next one!!:(

There's going to be magic everywhere, what with LA Ulm's massive magic diversity.

So yeah. :P

Are we playing CBM or vanilla. I´d prefer CBM.

Dedas February 12th, 2009 06:53 AM

Forgot about that, I don't play the current CBM, as I don't agree with the choices made.

Giving pikes more damage and attack was the most recent one I discussed. Do a search if you want to read up on it.

chrispedersen February 12th, 2009 04:44 PM

Re: Ulmish Civil Wars - All Ulm all of the time...

Dedas, I don't think thats an issue in late age - my remembrance is it was ea/ma. As I recall, pikemen have attack 10 in LA

Dedas February 12th, 2009 05:37 PM

Re: Ulmish Civil Wars - All Ulm all of the time...

I'm talking about the weapon pike. CBM changes pikes to attack 2 and damage 6 instead of attack 1 and damage 5. LA Ulm pikeneers has pikes making them boringly cost effective over other LA Ulm infantry. But that is just one minor issue have with the current CBM.

I'm sorry to hear that. The pike change is certainly not one I'm particularly attached to- you have certainly presented a convincing argument that something needs to be done, either scaling back the change or adjusting other weapons. I was under the impression most the recent cb changes were pretty uncontroversial, so if you have other issues please bring them up in the cb thread. Even if I don't respond immediately, I always go over the thread carefully before releasing a new version.

Re: Ulmish Civil Wars - All Ulm all of the time...

Qm,

I have an idea which I have been thinking about incorporating into my version of cbm; perhaps you'd like to consider it.

Here are three options I have been considering:

1. Make the attack armor negating/armor piercing. I tend more toward the former.
2. Giving pikes a first strike bonus, like the lance.
2. Giving pikes the weapons an add on attack, that is a one time thing, something like what a net gets.

What would make the most sense would be a one time effect that was AoE/AN - but not a lot of damaage.

This would work best against heavily armored targets - just like pikes traditionally were used for.

All of those look pretty extreme, I think I'd probably rather leave them as base than something with such a huge impact.

One thing though, all the CB versions are confusing people quite a lot, so I'd appreciate it if you called any tangential mods by some unrelated name (though whatever part of CB you wish to use you are welcome too).

You'd make pikemen's over rangers, shields and zweihanders...? Really...?

had a little test and we don't get the Ulm vamp spell. was that intended

chrispedersen February 14th, 2009 03:25 PM

Re: Ulmish Civil Wars - All Ulm all of the time...

Nope it was not intended = )
I had to create the whole nations manually, so I will fix that before we start the game.

Also, does anyone know if LA ulm has a production bonus and if so how much>?

chrispedersen February 15th, 2009 03:43 PM

Re: Ulmish Civil Wars - All Ulm all of the time...

Ok, the spell sanguine heritage has been copied for each nation, with someone along the name of ...

BlackChris' Taking
Prince Lavere's Taking.

Please give it a try. Also - if you could try a practice setup where you take another count's capitol - I want to see if you can build ghouls, templars etc., ie., if I have to make the magic sites unique.

I hope not, but I"m not sure.

Lavaere February 15th, 2009 04:40 PM

Re: Ulmish Civil Wars - All Ulm all of the time...

No need to practice for that, I wasn't able to use them in the game I played before

Game is started. Please submit Pretenders.

You will need to download the mods from the zip file at the first post, to get the flags, as llama gives no provision for zips or tga's.

That was Tolkien.

That was odd. I'll be resubmitting the pretender I suppose.

Llama, can you do me a favor and delete the Ulm file?

Seems like an interesting idea. I'll look forward to reading your thread as the game develops

Why not join Iron - I'll change the name of the faction to
RedIron - you're actually probably a more skilled player than the rest of us.. Ok.. I'll say.. than me = ).

Well the map looked more 4 person then 6 person. So I have problem if its start now or wait some more

Re: Ulmish Civil Wars - All Ulm all of the time...

I'm having some problems with the mod. While cCBM is clearly in the mod folder along with all the other mods I use the game claims I haven't got it installed.

chrispedersen February 21st, 2009 06:08 PM

Re: Ulmish Civil Wars - All Ulm all of the time...

Check the actual name; when there is an error message it will tell you "xxx" not installed.

Rename the ccbm.dm to xxx.dm - and it should solve your problem. The module was renamed on Llama's server to avoid confusion.

On separate matters - I was called out of town suddenly, I brought the cd to install, so I may be able to get my turns in on time; otherwise there will be a slight delay.

Let me know if you need more time to resolve this matter.
Best,

Chris

Error!

Turns out we should have tested more. When Laveare asked about Sanguine Heritage - I added it. I should have looked to see if there were more. There are. 4 More to be precise which I should have caught.

Attached is the corrected ulm.dm.

Game is paused until llama can unload and load new version. In the meantime.. please all check and make sure you have ALL ulmish spells. 5 in total

The current file only replaces the .dm - thanks.

Sorry .. and best wishes.

Lavaere February 27th, 2009 04:13 AM

Re: Ulmish Civil Wars - All Ulm all of the time...

Guess I should of looked to see if there were others. Never really used anything but Sanguine and Construction before.

:) And I had finally gotten first strike by taking one of Chris regions.

chrispedersen February 27th, 2009 04:30 PM

Re: Ulmish Civil Wars - All Ulm all of the time...

yah, I'm fairly careless.

Not to worry - llama has updated the website, so as soon as everyone confirms that they have patched and all is fine, we can continue.

Or maybe I'll just start the countdown anyway <eg>
