Wish for Tien Chi's Dragon

We envy Jomonese. :p

Rumors have been spread all over the cities and towns:
'The sons of Dragon Kings show their presences on the other side of the East Sea.'

Our people are questioning:
'As the Real Dragon, the Son of Heaven, why don't his majesty call the Dragon Kings to aid us? '

Sitting on the Dragon Throne, touching the eyes of golden dragon on his Dragon Robe, the Emperor said nothing.

Re: Wish for Tien Chi's Dragon

"Long", as Chinese pronunciation of eastern dragon, was a special presence in TC mythology. Jomon is given a lot of East Asia style creatures, we simply want to have a real dragon for TC.

I'm with you on this one, as it feels a bit odd that Jomon gets some funky summons that seem entirely appropriate in TC's Celestial Bureacracy. Not that Jomon shouldn't have them too, of course :)

Maybe each should have their own Dragon King. Or even rival families of dragons.

Heh. TC and Jomonese dragons should be quite different in feel, to me.

Personally, I like the Celestial Bureaucracy feel of MA TC quite a bit.

Re: Wish for Tien Chi's Dragon

How about the nine sons of Loong from Chinese legend?
they are:

Haoxian
A reckless and adventuous dragon whose image can be found decorating the eaves of palaces.
Yazi
Valiant and bellicose; his image is seen on sword-hilts and knife hilts.
Chiwen
Chiwen likes to gaze into the distance and his appearance is often carved on pinnacles.
Baxia
Baxia is a good swimmer and his image decorates many bridge piers and archways.
Pulao
Pulao is fond of roaring and his figure is carved on bells.
Bixi
Bixi is an excellent pack-animal whose image appears on panniers.
Qiuniu
Qiuniu loves music and his figure is a common decoration on the bridge of stringed musical instruments.
Suanmi
Suanmi is fond of smoke and fire; his likeness can be seen on the legs of incense-burners.
Jiaotu
Jiaotu is as tight-lipped as a mussel or a snail. His image is carved on doors.

+1. It's a bit odd to see Celestial Bureacracy is involved in the Jomonese theme of underworld. Maybe they should be described as branches or exiles of celestial sphere?

It is unfair,Jomon have the special kind of dragon, which is in fact is more like Tien Chi's folk dragon :loong.I suppost Tien Chi should also have new special unit :Tiec Chi loong.

Agree. Dragon is the centre myth animal in TC culture, as a kid you may not know Monkey King, but I am sure they know Dragon

Dragons are central in Chinese mythology. They aren't even mentioned in TC mythology, are they?

Gregstrom March 18th, 2009 08:59 AM

Re: Wish for Tien Chi's Dragon

Well, TC more or less = China.

Re: Wish for Tien Chi's Dragon

Haha, the chinese players are all lobbying together for more dragons for TC. :D

It looks like KO is already preparing something for you. Among the things that may surface as units at some time are Kojin, Fujin, Myoo, Amatsu-kami, Kunitsu-kami, Kuraokami... Description slots for those have been added in 3.21. Maybe they are for Yomi or Jomon, but they might be for TC, too, dunno. As for dragons, there have been slots added for Celestial Dragon and Dragon King of the East/West/North/South. Those look like they'll be accessible to MA and LA (The Dragon King of the East "is known as Owatatsumi in Jomon and Au Guang in Ti'en Ch'i"). So there's a chance that KO will expand on the theme of dragon courts later.

Take all this with a grain of salt, though. There already is a national hero, Ryutaro, the son of the Dragon King of the East, since the release of Dom3, and traces of a magical item named "The Dragon King's Heart" which never surfaced yet. So when or if all this might make it into the game is totally uncertain and up to KO.

Lch:

Pretty much all the names you used sound Japanese, not Chinese :)

VedalkenBear March 18th, 2009 11:18 AM

Re: Wish for Tien Chi's Dragon

Ich: Yes, all of those names are Japanese. Now, the Kitsune/Huli Jing effect can certainly give the summons to both nations, but there is a limit to that, no?

Re: Wish for Tien Chi's Dragon

I originally thought that crab general and shrimp soldier are not for Jomon since they don't have Japanese names.

Re: Wish for Tien Chi's Dragon

I would have thought that TC would have a "Celestial Dragon" Pretender. Just like the other dragons but with astral path (And appropriate chinese dragon artwork).

Re: Wish for Tien Chi's Dragon

Not unlikely that a Celestial Dragon will appear, now that the Dragon Kings are almost done.

Re: Wish for Tien Chi's Dragon

That sounds great, anything that improves the game is a plus and T'ien Ch'i is well deserving of a Celestial Dragon as are they of a Quirrin *wink*

I like seeing the LA developed, what with the earlier introduction of Belarus and now Jomon's makeover. :)
