Anybody play SE4 multiplayer still?
 

I'm just a novice SE4 player and I've never played against human opponents. Do people here play against each other?
What's the best way to get into an internet game?

Well that used to be PBW, but since the demise of the Original PBW, your only real recourse is a PBEM game.

You bet ya! You really need to visit spaceempires.net as it has a lot more being only for Space Empires, III IV & V. It has a range of forums including one for PBW which being dead is replaced by PBEM which means play be email.
I'm running one game using my Skywalker Mod, and if enough people get together someone could start another game, although I have 3 AI's in my game which could be taken over by human players. I think we are only up to turn 2401.1 so early days.
Have a look in those forums, and post a message perhaps. If you want to know anything else just ask... :D

I'm not really sure that site is going to make it; seems to be repeating all the mistakes of PBW1 that made it so hard to maintain.

Xrati, that site is DEAD in regards to SE 4 games!!!! Whilst SE 5 works, SE 4 games can NOT be played!!!! I have said this before elsewhere. After 2 weeks of messaging and asking why the games fowled up, eg start a game and 6 turns get run in a couple of hours with not a SINGLE upload, I gave up! So did the other game owner who tried and got the same results.
If you want to play SE 4 multiplayer, the ONLY way at the moment is via PBEM which is simple enough.

no auto processing yet but it handels the files alot better than doing pbem. I have been running a 2 player stock se4 game with a friend taking the site through its paces

I haven't played a single game in over two years. I started one a while back on my lap top but it crashed and I said screw it. Then PBW went down and that sort drove another nail into the coffin.

I might muck around a bit with a mod but playing isn't something I do any more.

I would love to see, and pay to get, a final patch for this game that addressed the remaining bugs, added a few more features for modding, new abilities for modding, and open source code for the game.

id like to see a final patch there are still many bugs and a few minor features id like to see resolved/added. i would even be willing to pay say $20 for it but the problem is then only people that buy it would have the patch and that would split things up even more because not everyone would have it.

The solution would be for Aaron to make a patch and set up a page for us to donate to via pay pal or whatnot I might even give him a full $50 if he did that depending on how much the patch really does. There is not a single game I have ever purchased that has given me as much fun as SE4.

Those who donate get some other cool stuff, like mouse pad, T-shirt, coupon off for other games, etc. God I wish he had never left Shrapnel.

Both of those are excellent ideas, CW and AT, and I'd support a move like that for about $50 too.

Rumour has it a Star Trek game is about to be started, look for a post over at se.net in the SE IV PBW section, thats tomorrow I believe. I'll be in that one..
