Windows 7 + Dominions 3

Hi,

I installed win7 and dominions runs very sluggish. There is black background during the menu, and battles are extremity slow. Other Direct3d and opengl games run fine. I tried compatibility mode (xp, and vista) but nothing is better.

I use a Thikpad x60s, dom3 worked fine whit xp.

Please help if you have any ideas :(

Drivers? Have you tried watching movies? Tried using usb stick with dom3 installed already [under XP for example]?

Everything works fine except Dom3 :(
Can I run the game from an usb stick?

I stalled a few games like Quake3, UT 2004 and they work fine. Movies run fine too.

I'm the first one trying Dom3 under win7?

Yep, you can run it from usb stick.

And you are probably first one to try it on win7 :)

I wonder if anyone tried to run it on smartphone with Windows Mobile... might be not possible till ones with Tegra chip come to the market.

To my knowledge, nobody has tried to run Dom3 on Windows 7 yet. It's not tested, so problems like this can be expected. The most important factor is probably the OpenGL support of your graphics drivers. Or more precisely, their probable lack of it. If there's crappy OGL support, Dominions will run slow as molasses.

Operating System: Windows 7 build 7000 (64 bit)

Intel Core 2 Duo 3.16 (Running at 4.05)
4 Gig DDR2 1066 ram
32 gig Solid State Drive (Game and operating system lives here) + various other sata drives
Nvidia Geforce 9800GT (Latest driver installed via Windows 7 updates)
26 Inch Samsung LCD (Running the game at 1280x1024)

What other info do you need?

Game runs perfect, even playing games with 30+ nations nearly instantly load turns well into the mid game, sound plays good, all the video settings are cranked up just short of the too high setting, mods galore.

I have Windows Mobile on an HTC (AT&T Tilt) - I'll have to load up Dom3 on my memory card and try it sometime...

I too am having this problem on Windows 7. Runing it in compatibility mode does not seem to help either, as does some programs.

My specs are:
Intel Core2 Duo, 2,66ghz(uped to 2,8)
4gb DDR2 RAM
Nvidia Geeforce 8800GT, updated with the latest Windows 7 drivers.

Running Dominions 3 w/ latest patch on Windows 7 build 7000 (official beta release) on a Dell M1330. No issues.
