Whats up with the hot chicks on the advertisements for dom3?

If you mean how do you get their phone numbers I believe they are unlisted.

We've had this discussion before. Apparently it causes a far higher click through rate and that means it's successful in the eyes of Shrapnel.

Seriously doubt it shifts any copies though.

Well if people can't be relied upon to click an image of a tank, to get a game about tanks..... I dunno what they think they're going to get if they click on an image of a random blonde.

Click on a Lady of Love, get to Dom 3. Sounds reasonable enough...

A pretty girl catches your eye and you see that she is talking about a subject that interests you. Makes sense to me that the results arent the same as a sepia hand talking about it.

Click on the babe and there's a small chance you will be the lucky winner and recieve her phone number. Once someone obtains the phone number the picture is removed... that's why eventually the pics are replaced with new ones. GOOD LUCK !

Oh no, you can't actually use a L*dy of L*ve, because there is pixel n*dity involved, and your children and children's children will all grow up and have preversions if they see a L*dy of L*ve and her n*ked pixels. Worse than fluoride in the water, those filthy pixels!

Oh god, is there yet another round of tasteless drivel ads?

If only she were holding a sword or something I could at least rationalize it and not feel like im having my eyes stabbed with hot pokers.

Oh no, now I've had to turn shrapnelgames.com images back on just to see what the latest ads are.

The Crystal Princess in the Lightweight Scale Mail has my complete and adulterated approval.

Yes, that too! Don't tell my other mistresses, they're likely to develop a severe case of pixel envy.

Excellent ads! They make me very horny... horny for your games that is!

You win shrapnel!

If I see it right then the blonde one has two burning pearls in her ears. But there are no ear-slots in dom3. So this ad's misleading.

She really must be a natural blonde. Doesn't she know that items of the same type don't stack?

What about resistances? I think they added the second one to make their ads immune to flames. :D

And don't they increase the attack value? So the ad is more offensive?

:D Perhaps they thought it'd make the ad more aggressive, as in spreading or growing fast? A bit like "an aggressive tumor"? :D

JimMorrison April 1st, 2009 06:50 PM

Re: Advertisements?

Well I am offended that for this premium price, my copy of Dom3 seems to have not included a sultry blonde.

Re: Advertisements?

There is another advantage of these ads as far as Shrapnel might be thinking.

The DO prove that SOME people every once in a long while actually SEE some of the things that Shrapnel was forced to add to the forum pages in order to get people to actually look at the whole site and not just their favorite discussions.

If for no other reason, they prove that a sexy blonde can get the attention of the average gamer where an ancient hand (like on the Dom3 box) didnt. Maybe they took a hint from ads for their games like Scallywag which included images that were not in the game.
Which makes me wonder what the box for Dominions 4 might look like.

shrapnel's other blondes also have a burning pearl, but you need the special photo sets in order to properly view their "misc. slots".

Re: Advertisements?

new ad girl. she's hot. seems to be wearing some sort of majickal bracer, and a ring.

i'm pretty sure those shoes are magical too.

cupido2 July 14th, 2009 01:18 PM

Re: Advertisements?

She's really hot. Clumsy as I am, I wanted to enlarge the picture, clicked and SNAP fell in the marketing trap. When I was on the order page I thought about buying another copy of Dominions 3 for the ad-girl, because she wants her Dominions 3 so badly. But there's no adress of hers... So, no buy.

Hmm, it's only a guess, but I think if those mysterious items are magickal they must attract horrors as Omnirizon's and my attention were attracted by her.

Re: Advertisements?

It isn't actually the women who are saying "I want my dominions 3", it's the photographer. It's a complex statement about male gaze.

That or it's the same old exploitative crap.

That, or sublimation.

Why did I bump this topic? :(

You mean, rather than wasting our energy drooling over the hot babe, we will focus it on our Dominions playing?

Or do you mean, she is so hot that she vaporized our brain cells?

I ended up with option B. See, just look at my avatar! That's my brain sublimating right there.
