WinSPMBT v4.5 Tourney Players

I've noticed a complete lack of activity as far as Tournaments go. So I'm putting forth this body of ideas.

I propose a small test tournament. 6 people will be required as combatants. Each player will be assigned another player to fight. All players will need to own the CD.

All equipment for this Test will come from the RED OOB, June 2009. At a later date I will post an exact list of the equipment availible to ALL players.

All battles will be fought on the same maps. As this is a test it will be limited to 3 running battles. I'll create the senario's and install the equipment specified by each player.
There will be 2 battles (or rounds) for each player to fight.

Each player will be assigned points before any fighting happens.
From this they must purchase a starting force. The battles will ALL be meeting engagements. The Terrain will ALL be in the same geographic location.
The 2nd battle will see less points to spend and ANY surviving forces from the first battle move to this battle.

These battles are not intended to be large in nature. I'm thinking maybe 70 tall X 80 wide. This is not etched in stone however. All maps will be a standard size.

The winner would be the player able to rack up the most points during the course of the battles.
A winner of a battle is the person who outscores the other.
The loser's score is subtracted from the winners total. The points left are the points scored for that battle.

I will be able to set passwords for each player. I'm not sure how deployment is going to work being that two people will be fighting.
If I have to deploy the actual player forces, each player contact me by PM to finalize that. Also each player will contact me by PM for thier purchase so nobody else knows that info.

I should have a complete list of availible forces up by the end of the week.

If anybody has interest in tournaments sign up here. Please be advised, if you want to be in this you must commit to at least one turn EVERY 48 hours.

Any feedback or ideas are welcome.
The idea is to create interest in tournaments which so far seems completely unused.

Having had a quick look at GG think the way you are supposed to do it is set up a scenerio & all players play the same game as in same map & equipment you provide.
Sent you a PM as say happy to help. That way you can make 3 scenerios & all players play them. Winner could be done by assigning points for 1st 2nd 3rd etc on each side.

It looks like I'm going to have to set up your forces, but I still want to go with everybody hand picking thier forces from a legal forces list. This will make it a little more interesting.

Keep in mind this is just an experiment to see how the whole tournament thing funtions.

Question for everybody signed up.

Should We go ahead with players purchasing thier force and then telling me how to set up or
Should I just make a stock scenario for each round that everybody plays?

Re: WinSPMBT v4.5 Tourney Players

OK lets hit the reset button.

************************************************** *************
Revised Tournament Test Rules.
************************************************** *************

I will create a scenario designed for TWO players using the RED oob June 2009.
As Imp mentioned in his PM,this will simplify things alot.
And we wouldn't want Ramm's condition to get worse.

Each player will get the SAME exact force. I will post this force in advance.
The scoring will remain the same. To win you must outscore your opponent. The differental in points will be the actual points scored in any given battle.

So we all play the same scenario you create each round correct? If we have some wiggle room on the turn rate of 48 hours I would jump in. The 48 hours should be no problem if the scenarios are not too large.

Yes but the scenario's are designed for two players each.

So It's a PVP (Player vs Player) as opposed to PVA (Player vs AI)

While I will not be participating in this endevor, I am very, very interested to see how it turns out - both the experiement and the individual battles. If you guys would keep a psudo journal of how it's going and possibly a AAR or two on the battles, I would love to read them.

My main interest is how these "chess" matches are going to turn out. The idea of two identical forces duking it out with the variable being independent stratagy intregues me. Keep us updated.

New Updated Roster

Ramm
EJ
Imp
Double Deuce
Wdll

Still room for one more player.

Player must own the WinSPMBT CD to get tourament mode and be in this tournament.

The battlemap, a 70 high X 80 wide random generated map (RED vs RED)
of the Balkans has been selected.

__________________________________________________ _______________

Due to Wdll's time contraints this will be strickly a Two round tournament.

The second round map will be a different map,but the same size and location.
Players will get the same force second round as the first.

I sould have the force composition up by Friday night. The scenario should be done this weekend.

Any player starting out first round on left side of map will get right side of map 2nd round,so that all players will get to play first move.

At this point we need 3 people to start the battles.
Let me know who wants to do that.
Everybody will have thier own passwod completely different than anybody elses.

In order to assign who's playing who we'll do it like this.

Players are seeded in order of appearace for signing up.

You will play the same opponent through both rounds for this test.

Opponents-

Ramm vs (6th Seed)
EJ vs Wdll
Imp vs Double Deuce

__________________________________________________ __________________________

It's important to remember that these game will be full security. Make sure you play the entire game on the same computer.

If there is some kind of security breech, the only way I can see to score it fairly is to have both players get zero points for the round. If anybody has a better idea about that let me know.

This forum is really only for folks to meet up and arrange PBEM games, not for blow by blow question and answer sessions.

The PM system is best for exchanging private email details (so spammers do not pick those up).

Then you should exchange nuts and bolts details etc via private email.

Cheers

OK when I said I would provide everybody a password , I lied.
I can't do that.

Thats actually up to the players themselves. I'm only responsible to set an initial setup password for player 2's.

Would everybody please read the game guide section

PBEM Tournaments, the 4 paragraphs under where it says-

This completes the Tournament Organizers section. The game is now in the hands of player 1.

This relates to what YOU the players are responsible for.

Please read this and let me know by PM if you understand it.

Thanks:cool:

Skirmisher April 2nd, 2009 04:32 PM

No More Players Needed.

We have 4 players now. Wdll dropped.

So the matchups look like this for the first round.

Ramm vs EJ
Imp vs Double Deuce.

Keep in mind this is scored only by RAW points.

There is no DRAW, unless the unlikely event both players with the same points.
Under a Draw the person with the high score wins.
And gains the difference in points as Tourament Points.

Rule Amendment

Players will now play the same scenario (in reverse ) for round 2.

Player 1's become Players 2's
Player 2's become Player 1's

So each player must play both sides to be fair.

No worries, it's not meant to be stressful.

All you have to do is determine(consulting EJ) what PBEM slot your going to use, then play it like a regular scenario in that slot.
Making sure you set yourself a password during your first turn.

Then send it off to EJ.
