Sign in nations that you choose in this thread

Nations:
1.Abysia - ketonur
2.Pythium - jmb
3.Eriu - AI :(
4.Atlantis - Frozen Lama
5.Jothunteim - hEad
6.Pangea - mikh4il
7.C'tis - Alpine Joe
8.Ashdod - MaxEffect

And just to make sure everything will go allright :)

- Make sure you have the same mods enabled as the game you're playing in (Preferences->Mod Preferences) although only mods affecting pretender design, such as Conceptual Balance, actually matter
- Go to Game Tools -> Create a pretender god in Dominions. Don't set a password, since for PBEM games they're not helpful and occasionally annoying (e.g. if you need a sub)
- Go to the savedgames/newlords folder in the dominions directory, and find your pretender file (e.g. mid_pythium_0.2h)
- E-mail the file to: pretenders[ at ]llamaserver[ dot ]net
- Crucially, you must have the game name in the subject line of your e-mail

NAPs (Non Agressive Pacts)
Well i've made mistake in post #27.
Rules of the NAPs:

1.Players who sign NAP post it on the forum, for egsample: "NAP3 Mictlan-Marverni, turn 8"

2.NAP3 for egsample means that each of those players, who want to break the nap MUST inform his ally (Private message) and post it on the forum three turns before possible agression. For egsample (Mictlan break NAP3 Mictlan-Marverni, turn 26), so he can attack Marverni on turn 29.

3.Unofficial NAPs (which you dont post on forum) are permitted offcourse but You cant be sure if your ally won't cheat you.

Current NAPs:

NAP3 Yotunheim - Abysia on turn 8

cbm 1.41?

Heinrich April 23rd, 2009 01:19 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

I am interested in joining this game with Ulm.

May I suggest (as Mikh4il did quickly) using the latest Conceptual Balance mod (1.41)?

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

OK, no problem. Post link next time please. It will be easier for me :)

If I am still considered a noob after four MP defeats, I'd like to join as Pythium please.

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

I sent you a PM regarding me but I post more than I play hence the higher rating.....

I would take Arco if its Early Era as its one of the weaker nations (kind of a handicap)

ketonur April 23rd, 2009 04:03 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

As GrudgeBringer advice me i think that we should pick map with fixed starting places to prevent placing capitols near each other, what could happen if we pick map that i choose.
So anyone against map changin ? :)

GrudgeBringer -> i replied you PM, we are playin Middle Age :)

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

Think I can join in as Skaven. Want to try them in a MP game

Alpine Joe April 23rd, 2009 05:35 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

I have yet to win a game, and I have never made it past mid game. If that qualifies me as a noob, then I'm in as Arga Dis, since you are allowing mod nations.

mikh4il April 23rd, 2009 05:47 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

i dont rly like middle age so i wont go for this one,

but good luck for the pretenders ;)

Redeyes April 23rd, 2009 06:34 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

I'll gladly join in as the underdog nation of Eriu.

I'm a dubious noob in that I have come out as a winner in two of my four games, yet I had lucky positions in those two and comparatively strong nations (to Eriu), still far less games under my belt than most of the people in this thread ;)

Well we are playin with cbm 1.41 only and i didnt find such nation in this mod

Redeyes April 23rd, 2009 06:59 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

Skaven aren't in the CBM either (which doesn't add any nations).
If you want either, they would have to be added with mods.
Could be fun, surprises are always fun for someone. :smirk:

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

I know i shouldn't join another game, but i will.

I'll try Atlantis if we can be water nations.
otherwise i'll give Ashdod a try

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

Can I have Jotunheim please?

(been registered for a while but still yet to finish an MP game)

ketonur April 24th, 2009 06:25 AM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

I would like to use cbm 1.41 mod only.

As i wrote its game for noobs only so any mod give too much adventage to the player who is using it. Change your nations and you are welcome :)

mikh4il April 24th, 2009 01:22 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

made up my mind
it there is still some place, i ll go as pangea

Frozen Lama April 24th, 2009 07:04 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

judging by the origional post, it is ok for me to be Atlantis right?

mikh4il April 24th, 2009 07:07 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

water nation? :s

Redeyes April 24th, 2009 07:17 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

I think it is fine on a map with just 9 sea provinces, though it gives room for another player above water.

I think Grudgebringer wanted to sign up as Arcoscephale - I don't see him in the original post's player list.

mikh4il April 24th, 2009 07:27 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

he wanted to sign up as ea arco :(

Frozen Lama April 24th, 2009 07:59 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

yeah, i figured its ok to only have 1 water nation cause of the small sea. just want to try them out.

Alpine Joe April 24th, 2009 08:30 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

Alright if no mod nations then MA c'tis for me.

GrudgeBringer April 25th, 2009 12:54 AM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

I was wanting to play a EA game as Arco and try something new...

I didn't read the description well enough to see that it was MA.

hEad April 25th, 2009 02:37 AM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

Looks like a full house!

Would it be possible to have renaming on and Hall of fame set to 15?

ketonur April 25th, 2009 02:42 AM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

Ok, we have 8 players so i close recruiting.

My proposition is 14h turns for first 5 turns (if anybody is against it we will stay at 24h) then we will go for 24h. What do You think about it ?

I was thinking about map changin because of no fixed starting postions but i think that we could stay at current map

My last proposition are NAPs (Non Agressive Pacts). To avoid any further problems we can use them as follows:
Players who would like to sign such pact declare it on forum (write for how many turns they wont attack each other), for egsample:
'Arco and Ulm enter a Nap3 on turn 4'
then i will copy-paste it to the first post so nobody will break such agreement.
There will be secret pacts permitted also but you wont be sure if your temporaly ally wont break such agreement, and if it would happen betrayed player will not be allowed to have any charges against betrayer. This will help to keep good atmosphere at this topic :)

GrudgeBringer said that he will not play MA because he knows this era too much. Its a very nice from his side to give us noobs chances to play game on our experience level. I hope that our noob veterans (Redeyes with 2 games already won and Alpine Joe) are not too good because it will destroy fun of this game.

I give you 14h to post any further suggestions (map changin, hours per turn, non agressive pacts, etc) then i will start the game with such settings as i posted at 1st post.

Sorry for my english, hope its communicative, i have't use this language for years :/

I'd rather stay at 24h turns from the start. I may not have the time to go faster during work days. Anyway, if you enable the quickhost mode, the turns will proceed as soon as everyone has submitted their turns, so we will automatically go faster than 24h if we can.

ketonur April 25th, 2009 02:54 AM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

Sure! So we stay at 24h

hEad -> changed, hope that nobody is against it :)

I'd like to play. I have only ever played Rlyeh but I'd like to try something else. I see Atlantis is taken. But I'd be up to try anything.

Oh, I hope not!
I think I, Alpine Joe and jmb, are at about the same level since the last game we played together.
At least I picked a nation I thought weak to handicap myself ;)

Worst come to worst, you'll have learnt something for your next game. I have probably learnt more from loosing battles than anything else but reading the guides here have helped too.

I think you can change it if you edit the first post in the thread, you should still be able to do so.

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

I saw that score graphs are off.
They are a rubber-band because they allow everyone to know if someone is very powerful.

I think games with graphs off are shorter because of that, and "strong" nations/players have gained the most in the games I have been in.

Frozen Lama April 25th, 2009 07:24 PM

Re: Noobiewars. Game for noobs - recruiting

Personally, i'd prefer to have graphs on. it helps me get into the game more.

Ok. Graphs are on, still waitin for Ulm (Heinrich)

Oh and one more thing: is the 1 province inland sea designated nostart? i was messing around in SP and Ryleh started in it, and i'd rather not have that happen.

Frozen Llama -> I thought that land nations start at ground provinces by default. :(

You can see it if you click "Options" -> View Game Settings (just above "Quit Without Saving").

I think they were strength 5, but I can't check right now.

Probably not strong enough to kill a gorgon (you're pangaea, afterall) ;)
