GoR mages
I was just wondering if there are any other units besides Tartarians that gain magic paths when you cast GoR on them? Or is this just a unique feature for Tartarians.

Re: GoR mages
Yes, but I don't have a list.
At the very least anything you capture with enslave mind type spells you can then GoR back into a commander with magic, although paths will be rerolled from scratch for it if there are randoms and empowerments are lost. |
Re: GoR mages
If you happen to Enslave a mage, he'll get magic if you GoR him. It will be a random set for his type, which might differ from what he had before the enslavement.

Re: GoR mages
Check Edi's DB - that shows magic paths for all units.
|
Re: GoR mages
Any commander type unit that you wish for will come to you as a regular unit and will gain their magic paths once you Gift of Reason them.

Re: GoR mages
In the matter of summons that come to you as non-commander units...
Angels summoned by Pythium/Marignon can be GoRed and will have at least priest levels. Some of Lanka's national summons (Asrapa, Danava) have magic with a GoR. Vastnesses get S3. There are probably others, too. |
Re: GoR mages
Hrm...according to Edi's DB, peasants have 1H if GoR'd...wonder why?

Re: GoR mages
It was the Jaguar with F1D1B1 that entertained me. I guess it was an alternative form of another creature.

Ah, right. Funny thing is I think you would get that version of jaguar if you wished for one, as it has a lower unit ID.

probably non magic normal folks which get a brain are priests :D twas the only way for peasantish pplz to crawl out fo the mud in the middle ages.. I think it's reasonably thematic. (I also think it's a waste of gems) |
Re: GoR mages
Peasants get 1H because poverty+suffering=holiness :D

Re: GoR mages
What's a peasant in Dom3? Militia? The Ulmish guys with pitchforks? I've never seen a "peasant" unit so I wonder which unit is being discussed.

Re: GoR mages
Perhaps it is a heritage unit?
A quick google search indicate that you could get them as a random event back in Dominions 2. (link) The unit with id 1565 is named "Peasant". The IDs directly above and below it are R'lyeh LA Freesapwn, but the peasant isn't part of those. |
Re: GoR mages
I'm posting this here as it relates to the thread so is worth keeping together
Something very weird has happened to me in a game as EA Abysia. One of my Anointed of Rhuax has suddenly lost all magic, with no afflictions. He is still a commander though. Meanwhile, a Burning One unit is now a commander with Nature 1 and blood 1. I most certainly did not cast GoR on him, heck I don't have anyone who CAN cast GoR. Any ideas? |
Re: GoR mages
sounds like a VERY odd bug to me
|
Re: GoR mages
Was there a rollback? Sometimes that can cause weird things, esp if you started the original turn and then forgot to delete it before starting on the new one.
|
Re: GoR mages
No, no rollback
It's a shame really, most game as abysia I'd be stoked to have a ready made jade knife forger present himself like that, but in this one there really wouldn't be much point (odds of pushing dominion on a rampant mictlan seem a wee bit lacking) Edit: Actually we did rollback.. we delayed turn for a long time after so I forgot, but we did indeed.. |
