Re: Yugoslav OOB

Have seen many new errors in Yugoslav OOB. Will fix them this month (Have a large test at school, so i need to study)

Although, i have a question.
Is it possible to add this updated OOB's to the next patch?
If you need a valid source which can verify my data, i will supply it then.

Re: Yugoslav OOB

Guys, i found tons of old Yugoslav army pictures, and i have an idea. All those who are from ex-YU, remember that JNA personality as an army? Well i will try to add as many JNA pictures to the OOB to give it that Yugo personality (folks who did not live in Ex-YU and have never seen the JNA will find it hard to understand that :D) Plus, i might find something new and add it :D. What do you think of the idea?

Re: Yugoslav OOB

It is a good idea. Some national/local aesthetics on OOBs always make them more attractive, whatever the country.

Re: Yugoslav OOB

One question, can the pictures be in color, or do they need to be black & white?

So, its finished... over 30+ new pictures for Yugoslav OOB + some weapon availability dates errors fixed. I also edited the SHP Icon file number 4, only one unit is edited and thats M-60PB APC, it has 2 RCLS and not 1, also, the opening for the reloader is on the left side, not right. I also added a Custom Yugoslav map in it, to test the new OOB :D Its in slot 350.

Installation is easy, just un-rar into your WinSPMBT game folder
Example:
(D:\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPMBT)

P.S.
If you downloaded the updated Croatian OOB, note that some pictures will be overwritten with new better ones from the Yugoslav OOB.

If there are any errors, tell me so i can fix them
Tell me what you think of it.

First update:

Added two new pictures and changed icons of All M-80s (M-80, M-80A, M-80A1, M-80AK, M-80LT) with the icons from PlasmaKrab, and enhanced the icon of BOV-3 SPAA (i lengthened the barrels on the turret, they were too short).

The package contains everything from the first release.

Re: Yugoslav OOB

Some interesting stuff you have here.
Mind if I use some of the LBMs in my mod? I have around 150 Yugoslav/Serbian/Croatian pictures included now that I have added the Yugoslav OOBs, but you have some pics here (particularly infantry) that I never found on the Internets.
Actually, if you can direct me to the original photos, that would be fine as well.
If you're interested , I'll post some camoed M-80 icons soon, provided I can get my data back from my second USB stick crash in one month

No problem, use them as you wish :D. We both have the same goal of improving the game ;)

For the original pictures, i got them here:
Yugoslav Peoples Army

and here (but you need a face book account):

Can you tell me a bit more about the mod you are making?

Re: Yugoslav OOB

I noticed that the Yugoslav OOB T-72/M-84s have less pen (sabot43/heat50) than the same tanks in the Croat and Bosnian OOB (64/65), that the Yugoslav T-55 have one point more pen (ap22) than the Croat and Bosnian T-55 (21), and that the Croat and Bosnian T-34/85 have better gun than the Yugoslav one. I ask, are these all mistakes?

I copied the updated T-34 to Yugoslav OOB and added .50 M2 AAMGs to the early 90's T-34s of all three mentioned OOBs, as was more than common according to real war footage.

Re: Yugoslav OOB

Hm... interesting.
I will research this a bit. A logical explanation to me would be that the Yugoslav M-84 are using older models of ammunition, or something like that, i don't know really. I haven't changed the stats of those tanks, so i will make a little bit research on what kind of ammo they used, and so on.

Not likely. The armor penetration values for the 100mm and 125mm tank guns have been revised for the last patch.
For example the BR-412D value for the 100mm has changed from 21 to 22 while 125mm penetration has generally been reduced on the basis of the type of rounds which were actually exported outside the USSR.
I guess these changes however have not been applied across the board, due to the enormous number of units involved and lack of time.

Re: Yugoslav OOB

I see. So I'll use the Yugoslav OOB as the standard for modifying the Croat and Bosnian OOBs.

DRG June 9th, 2010 11:29 PM

If you look closely you will see the Yugo verions have start dates BEFORE the ammo the Croatian and Bosnian carry. If I put 1988 issued ammo in a tank with a start date 5 years before that would be and error people would also complain about....yes ?

A case could be made for an ammo upgrade to the Yugo versions if you can show me they had/have access to BM-42 and BK-27 or that the Croats and Bosnians don't have those rounds

Re: Yugoslav OOB

Well, the most reasonable solution i could think of is:

Yugoslavia produced its own ammo, and the Croatians and Bosnians most likely did not buy any new ammo for their tanks. They used the ones from captured Yugoslav barracks (See Battle of the Barracks) now, what kind of ammo Yugoslavia used, i don't know, but it surely was very similar to the Soviet, although which of those was better is questionable. It is possible that YU didn't exactly copy the soviet ammo, they were more prone to produce modified versions of soviet technology. (Just like the M-84 isn't an exact copy of the T-72, but a slightly improved one due to later introduction than the T-72, when new technologies were available)

Re: Yugoslav OOB

Yugoslavia made M-88, which was a BM-15 copy with redesigned ballistic cap for improved performance against sloped armor against which the basic BM-15 suffered somewhat, otherwise pretty much same as BM-15 (they can use the same values for game purposes).
Not 100% sure on HEAT but it was probably a BK-14M copy too, I will try to check.
As I said elsewhere BM-15/BK-14M combo can be used as default, at least for the 1990's and 2000's, as they were the best which the USSR exported before the end of the Cold War and they were copied/licensed as well (older rounds such as BM-9 were likely expended for training in that timeframe).
Better rounds have been available since then but they are more expensive and not everyone can or want spend the money.

DRG June 12th, 2010 09:07 PM

Re: Yugoslav OOB

If they indeed issue a BM-15/BK-14M combo then there will be modifications made for the next release to show that as right now the HEAT pen values are for BK-18, which, at the time, was thought to be the HEAT round most likly used. If the Croatians and Bosnians are using the same thing then their ammo will be downgraded as well ( currently they are set up with BM-42 and BK-27 )

For Croatia its almost 100% sure they used BM-15/BK-14M combo in 1991 till somewhere 1996, but i think they are using more modern ammo this days. Im not sure, but i think that the M-84A4 "Sniper" variant uses a more modern ammo. I will look further into this.

Marcello June 19th, 2010 09:11 AM

Re: Yugoslav OOB

I have checked the HEAT issue; as expected they made a BK-14M copy.

Re: Yugoslav OOB

Changes that should be made for the Yugoslav OOB in the next patch:

1. I updated the ranks & names. The ranks are more accurate, and the names that were more common in ex-Yu

2.You should add the J-20 "Kraguj" as a light ground attack/reconnaissance aircraft... I made the icon, but i think you should make the stats...

3. The Yugoslav tanks used no camo pattern, all of the tanks were painted in "olive green"

Re: Yugoslav OOB

Hey guys, long time no see :D
Was playing this gem and spoted something intresting about the J-1 Jastreb plane in Yugoslav OOB. It has mostly the right weapons but...

Basically, this is what the aircraft should have for its armament:

3x AN-M-3 12.7mm machine guns (.50 cal M2 browning) with 135 bullets each

2x Rocket pods each with 12 "BR-1-57" HE or "BR-2-57" AP rockets
More info about the rockets in English:
http://www.krusik.rs/en/wp-content/u...BR_57mmeng.pdf

6x VRZ-157 128 mm rockets (Yugoslav copy of 5in. HVAR rockets)
http://64.78.11.86/uxofiles/mulvaney.../5-IN-HVAR.pdf

https://image.ibb.co/fsmHq5/J_21_jastreb_01.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/MT2n3vh.jpg

The 6 HVAR rockets are standard and always loaded, the only thing that varies is whats on the bomb pylons...

From the official technical manual of the plane, it says:

https://i.imgur.com/1ZwfHWv.jpg

"d - The rocket weapons

1) General rocket armament consists of:

- 6 rails for "Hvar-5 ", three under each wing

.....

- On the bomb carriers:
2 "honeycomb launchers" for rockets BR-1-57mm or BR-2-57mm, OR two "one-tube" launchers for rockets caliber 128mm, OR two "four-tube" launchers for rockets caliber 128mm

The combat set of a "honeycomb launcher" consists of 12 pieces of BR rockets."

That means:

BR-1-57 HE or BR-2-57 AP 57mm rockets x24
(they do come in HE and AP variant in a "honeycomb" launcher with 12 rockets each)
VRZ-157 128 mm (HVAR-5) rockets x6

or...

Napalm x2
VRZ-157 128 mm (HVAR-5) rockets x6

or,

250kg GP bomb x2
VRZ-157 128 mm (HVAR-5) rockets x6

or,

S-8-16 x32
VRZ-157 128 mm (HVAR-5) rockets x6

or,

KPT-150 cluster bomb x2
VRZ-157 128 mm (HVAR-5) rockets x6

etc... you get the point :)
