I'll play Vanheim

Re: Recruiting – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

I'd like to play Atlantis. Just one question - why CBM 1.5 and not 1.6?

Juffos October 12th, 2009 05:57 AM

Re: Recruiting – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

I would like to play as Pythium.

oh i didn't realize it was out. I see it now so I changed the game to 1.6

Anyway, game is up. Please upload pretenders.

Re: Recruiting – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

I'll take Mictlan for the 7th spot, if it's still open :)

Re: Upload Pretenders – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

okay game now full. We'll start as soon as everyone's uploaded.

Re: Upload Pretenders – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Alright, game on! Best of luck to all.

I'm guessing we are all busy people from all around the world, but it would be nice if we could try to play pretty fast for the first dozen turns or so since there is so little to do.

ghoul31 October 30th, 2009 08:46 PM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

I'm going AI
Pythium already has 40 mages that can cast enslave mind. So hes takes over your whole army in a couple rounds. Now he has 50 giants also.

Quitti October 30th, 2009 09:38 PM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Well, specific research goal + wtfastralmages = what is this madness.

Pretty much sums it up I guess.

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

We are now at turn 20+
I think we can slow the pace a bit now.
Plus, I will be driving the whole day on monday and I probably won't have time to play my turn.

SciencePro October 31st, 2009 03:15 PM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Okay any other opinions one way or the other on whether we should slow now to 48 hours?

In any case, I'm happy to give anyone a brief extension if you need it. If you know at least 24 hours in advance you can PM me or post it here. If you need one quickly, email me at eashzzton at gzzmail.com (remove the z's to get my real email address).

In other news, I'm disappointed that Ghoul31 decided to quit after losing one big battle. I think it is poor sportsmanship to quit when you still have so many provinces and your capital. The player who quits gives an unfair advantage to his immediate neighbors.

TwoBits October 31st, 2009 10:43 PM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Yeah, any chance on getting a sub for Ashdod, or is it too late?

And yeah, I think we need longer turns. I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure I staled last turn :( I'm pretty sure I did it, but I may have forgotten to send it in (a little busy this weekend). So more time would be appreciated, along with perhaps an earlier email warning (9-12 hours in advance?).

He was going to wipe me out in about 5 turns anyway. I have zero troops. Its stupid to just sit there for 5 turns and do nothing . But whatever.

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

I don't think its likely we can find anyone to take ashdod's position. But if anyone does want it or if you know someone who does please PM me.

Hosting interval changed to 48 hours as requested. Warning set to 12 hours.

Wow. I have been fighting Atlantis for the last 10 turns after he got unlucky with his pretender. He has stayed in the fight and made me pay for every inch! Why just drop?

TwoBits November 1st, 2009 01:44 AM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Remember, there's are diplomatic options too. Has Ashdod actively sought allies? Well, I haven't heard from them. But if they stayed in the game, they might find others interested in helping out against mighty Pythium.

And if I was Ashdod, and wanted to fight it out, well, I'd forget the mighty sacred giants. Go for indie infantry, backed up by hordes of cheap slave-troops. And obviously refuse to fight that big field army of Pythium, but attack elsewhere. And try to kit out an SC or two, remembering max MR gear (Starshine Skullcap and Amulet of Anti-magic).

Yeah, I wish I had some aquatic scouts to watch the underwater action. I was impressed that Atlantis seemed to have fought its way back to even before finally going down. Kudos to the Atlantis player!

Yeah, I've made your life a very hard one under the waves, even though I've seen the outcome from the turn my 'tender decided to rout in middle of the fight ;) I literally had maybe 30 troops after that, and what has happened since is that I've cost you very very much gold, not only cosidering the short run. Last act of defiance some might say.

Thank you. I could've just conceded the waters to R'lyeh but considering other players, I didn't want R'lyeh to just waltz right into my cap and take it. I also got very unlucky and got 10+ krakens attacking my other fort the next turn it was complete, which might have still given me some sort of chance in the game.

Yes quite a good show! I was extremely lucky, well actually you were extremely unlucky ;) I have been very (perhaps too cautious) but didn't want to get suckered into a battle where my/your luck could turn back on me. Meanwhile I have seen the other nations run past us, but at least we are almost alone under the seas....

SciencePro November 1st, 2009 04:47 PM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Yes, thanks to Atlantis for showing a great fighting spirit. Just because you lose a big battle and have few troops that doesn't mean you are out of it. And even if you aren't likely to win the whole game you can still have fun playing the underdog and being the thorn-in-the-side. And even if you aren't having fun, staying in is an important courtesy to the other players.

Yeah, my time is up in a few turns probably, if not the next, but still I believe I gave thunderbird a run for his money ;)

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Hehe nice spell Juffos. Considering what happened in this game so far I can't blame you for wanting to bring down the wrath of god on all of us.

Sorry to hear about your pretender getting muted though. That's gotta be tough when you are dictating tablets or other holy books to your followers.

Oh and you should give a big pay raise to the ballisteer who shot my warlock from the farthest possible spot on the battlefield. How do those dudes decide who to target anyway? I figured they would go to the decoys i put in the front.

I will go AI on the next turn.
Thanks for the game.

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Good game, lebarjack.

Twobits, its time for our NAP-3 to end. Good luck in the coming struggle.

I am just about to get on the train home so I think we can resume a normal schedule unless someone else is away.

TwoBits December 30th, 2009 03:07 PM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Thanks for hanging in there Leberjack. Too bad the timing didn't work out for us to be allied (for a variety of reasons), as it looks like I'm next on the double-team hit parade. Though you did buy me a lot of time to get in plenty of research, etc.. Not enough to survive, likely, but enough to lay some hurt down I hope.

OK, SciencePro. Just let me know which month when that NAP expires.

Thunderbird, you ready to make it formal too? Or will you guys keep "anonymously" attacking my capital (yes, Domes let you know someone tried to mess with you), and sending spies and assassins into my lands under cover of 'peace'? :p

I'll be waiting...

SciencePro December 31st, 2009 08:40 PM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Well I notified you during turn 55 so I didn't/won't issue attack orders in 55, 56, or 57. But you might expect to be attacked when you open turn 59.

If you would like to fight sooner than that it would be fine by me.

TwoBits January 2nd, 2010 11:49 AM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Oh, I'm in no rush (now that I have the research advantage ;) ). Give your orders on 58, and I'll try to make things interesting on 59 :)

TwoBits January 5th, 2010 10:19 AM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Hey guys. I hate doing this, right before things get interesting, but real life is dragging me down right now. I could handle things in peacetime, but in a war, I don't think I'd have the time to adequately do my turns, and I don't want to just "mail it in". As it is, I already feel I'm slowing down the game (always the last one to get my turn done). Can I get a slight delay while I try to find a sub?

Sorry about this :(

SciencePro January 5th, 2010 05:20 PM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

okay i'm sorry to hear you are leaving. damn you, real life!

i put 48 hours on for now. Hopefully someone will respond to your sub ad soon.

TwoBits January 6th, 2010 09:52 AM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

I appreciate the understanding and the delay. I'll keep bumping the sub-thread. If you know anyone who might be interested, or think of any information I should add to the thread, please let me know. I'm bummed to have to bail right now before things get fun - R'lyeh has a lot of interesting things going for it :(

Thanks

Sorry to see you go as well. I think my biggest weakness is in research. As this was my first game, I really underestimated how quickly everyone would tech up.

Welcome Warna to the game, subbing for Twobits. Thanks for joining and good luck!

As I hope he told you, you are inheriting a bit of a sh!tstorm. Your NAP-3 with me (abysia) just expired. FYI, I issued attack orders this past turn that i sent in.

Yes, I know. I still don't have my turn, though. ;) And while I hope I won't disappoint you, I never played Mictlan MP. Still, we'll see (as soon as I get my turn and remember how Mictlan MA ticks). :P

There are 24 hours left on the clock so if you can do it today that would be fine. Let me know if you need another delay.

Yeah it is a bit funny that you inherited this empire on the exact turn it is getting attacked seriously for the first time. I hope for your sake twobits has something good up his sleeve - he seemed pretty confident in his posts.

LOL. I will admit the imminent onset of hostilities in Anchorage (along with the increasingly complicated situation in FastBlitz) convinced me that I had too much on my hands. I just didn't want to be "mailing it in" because I was too busy, right when things were going to get challenging.

And hopefully I've left Wrana with enough assets to make a good showing, maybe even have a chance ;) Thanks again!

Wrana January 10th, 2010 04:19 PM

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering

Predictable, isn't it? ;)
Still, Crystal Amazons were a good move. And I forgot that AI doesn't cast elemental resistance spells on partially resistant units. A pity CBM authors didn't make something about it instead of banning gem producing items! <carp mode off>
And I can even tell you one of things he had up his sleeves - because I don't know why in hell he made it! :) It's Soul Contract... :re:
By the way, R'lyeh is wrong if he thinks that border provinces he can capture from me would give him a chance against Abysia later. They are mostly poor and unless he gains in research fast he'll be just ground under. And while he fights, his research slacks. I just can't understand how he slacked so much? Though thanks fot a good luck wish - it seemed to work. ;)
Another question to all - why TwoBits didn't help Vanheim while they could still fight?
