Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Running

I'm starting a new game, Mooseknight:

Server: llamaserver
Era: EA
Mods: CBM 1.6, Streamers & Standards, Magic Site Mod
Map: World of Symmetry v0.4
Provinces: 231 land + 34 sea
Nations: 10 land, 2 sea
Settings: Default (HoF 15, renaming on)
Victory: 5 capitols (including your own, if you still hold it) held (not just sieged) for 3 consecutive months, or concession.
Turns: start at 27h, go to 52h from there and if needed, longer.

Special Rules: No trading or gifting of items, gems, gold, or blood slaves. You can make arrangements to gift/surrender/trade provinces. You can make arrangements to gift/surrender/trade units with enslave/charm. Don't abuse charm by using it to trade items. If you send a unit to be charmed, it cannot be wearing/wielding/holding ANY items. Can you wear a starshine cap to teleport somewhere and get charmed? No!

NAPs etc are allowed, but are non-binding. Backstabbing is encouraged.

Exploits: Anything goes, except for filling up the lab. But you can't do that anyway, since sending items is banned.

Open to: Anyone, if you do not recklessly abandon the games you join.

Players - Nations:

vfb - Oceania
Omnirizon@IRC - R'lyeh
Frozen Lama - Fomoria
Trumanator - Mictlan :rip:
Squirrelloid - Marverni :medal:
Quitti - Niefelheim
Ossa - Sauromatia
RadioGibbon - Ulm
mscfish - TC
Belac - Agartha
Debaser8 - Kailasa
FAJ - C'Tis

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Recruiting, 6 / 12

I'd like to take the Sauros.

Squirrelloid December 10th, 2009 09:14 AM

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Recruiting, 7 / 12

Nieflheim? Sauromatia? Does no one like to play the underdogs? I mean, you joined knowing Marveni was going to be in it - do you really need to beat them by lightyards rather than regular yards? =p

vfb December 10th, 2009 09:43 AM

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Recruiting, 7 / 12

Respect to Squirrelloid for choosing an underdog! To be fair to Quitti, that was a random roll. I don't mind if anyone wants to change their picks, as long as no-one's already got it.

Oh, and please try out the map (v0.3) in case I've broken anything.

RadioGibbon December 10th, 2009 10:01 AM

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Recruiting, 7 / 12

I'll take Ulm please.

Tc,please.

I don't want to use Streamers & Standards. Is it ok if i upload my pretender without this mod?

Thanks!

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Recruiting, 8 / 12

Hi all!

Since this will be my first MP game and I expect to get handily squished anyway, I would like to make an odd choice: Agartha.

I need to download the relevant mods and map, so I shouldn't be ready for a couple days, if that's OK.

Thanks!

Debaser8 December 10th, 2009 01:57 PM

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Recruiting, 8 / 12

I have never played a Multiplayer game before, so would likely get runover and be a gift to any of my neighbors, but I'm interested in Kailasa if my presence wouldn't unbalance your game too much.

Squirrelloid December 10th, 2009 02:57 PM

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Recruiting, 8 / 12

stick Lanka, Mictlan, Nieflheim, and Sauromatia in the same area. By the time they finish deciding which of them is going to win, the remaining nations might actually offer them a challenge =P

(All in jest, of course, but it would be nice to see fewer games with so many power nations)

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Recruiting, 8 / 12

Wow, I didn't realize this already had a thread!

This is probably the game you were talking about on irc, I told you to put me down as playing... but I wasn't very clear and I hadn't chosen a nation... and 12people requested to play before me so I guess I'm sitting this one out?

If someone else doesn't wanna play lemme know and then I'll pick a nation then I guess, otherwise have fun maybe I'll play in another game :)

vfb December 10th, 2009 05:34 PM

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Send Pretenders

Sorry namad! I forgot to leave a spot for you, and the game filled up really fast.

If someone decides to bow out, you get first dibs.

@Everyone: Mooseknight is up, please email your gods to the llamaserver.

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Send Pretenders

just a couple questions: exploits are ok. does that include copying bogus's orders? i don't care either way, but just clairifying.

and 2, this map has preplaced starts, but we will be randomizing who gets what right?

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Send Pretenders

Someone had better take a forest lord. You can't have a game called mooseknight with no moose!

Clearly we need some preset poptypes that include mooseknights.

Game winner is the person who assembles the largest army of mooseknights by turn 40 or 50?

Yes you can copy Bogus's orders. Or the Troll Archer's, which is probably what you really want. :)

The only valid start locations are the 12 corner provinces. Nation placement is random.

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Send Pretenders

Help! How do I install the CBM (and other mods) on a mac?

Also, the map crashes my Dominions game when I load it.

vfb December 10th, 2009 11:07 PM

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Send Pretenders

Belac, extract the mod files, including sub-folders, into your dom3 mods folder.

You probably only downloaded the .map file, you also need the .tga from the 1st post in the map thread. Please install that too.

Belac December 10th, 2009 11:11 PM

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Send Pretenders

I managed to fix that, now I just need to figure out where to find the pretenders file to upload.

Omnirizon December 10th, 2009 11:12 PM

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Send Pretenders

belac, it is in the newlords folder, which is stored with your other game folders

I'm almost certain that 155 and 172 are supposed to be connected (correct me if I'm wrong). I made the adjustment attached it to this post.

Also, do replace both the tga and map files with these I've attached. Minor misspellings and blemishes (symmetry spelled symetry, map still referencing a file called 'symetry2' from when it was v2, etc) bug the crap out of me. So now map references worldofsymmetry (since the tga version has never changed).

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Send Pretenders

Thanks Omni. Sorry, can't see the map right now, but I will try to replace the map in the game with your fix tonight. I think I'll manage to get that done before everyone's god is in.

Edit: Frozen sent me a pic, and I see the missing connection. I've replaced the map in the game. Only diff is, I renamed the map "0.4" on the llamaserver, to make sure the new map got used.

It should be fine I would think. If it ends up where it makes you do so, I believe there's some workaround for it, but you might have to ask around.

Squirrelloid December 11th, 2009 02:47 PM

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Send Pretenders

Ok, in all seriousness no game should include Streamers and Standards.

Here's the skinny - Streamers and Standards is merely cosmetic, so it doesn't matter if one person is using the *content* of the mod and another isn't. However, if the mod is included in the game, the game will look for the .dm file. So you can remove the effect of the mod by deleting most of the content (basically, all the actual commands that change flags - leave the heading stuff at top). However, at the same time, someone could *always* play with streamers and standards by appending the functional text at the end of another included mod.

The reason why the second is preferable (people who want to use it include it at the end of another mod) is because occasionally Streamers and Standards is actually useful. Ie, if you end up playing a multi-era game. At which point you now have to overwrite your blank streamers and standards mod to use it, and if you're playing in that game and a single-age game with S+S you now have to use S+S for both of them, or delete/re-install *every turn*.

So its much more convenient if the people who actively want to use S+S just append it to the end of CBM. Then they can always look at those ugly flag graphics, and those of us who don't want our graphics changed for regular games don't need to have a dummy copy of S+S lying around.

Yes, that will work fine. You need to make an empty mod with the same name, but it sounds like you know that already.

Yes, Omni's map. If you want to try out some scenarios first, just unpack everything in his post (the .map and .tga) into your maps dir.

Omni didn't rename the map from v0.3 to v.04 when he added the missing province link. I did that on llamaserver to be sure I used the correct one, and that's the only additional change I made. You don't need to make that change locally.

Normal I should think since nothings specifically mentioned. Meaning that you can do whatever you want to get in touch with people. PMs are generally preferable, as they provide a history to consult.

Thanks, that's right Trumanator, no limits on communication. (You are also free to tell lies, and break your word, etc).

But everymoose please just remember, no trading! (As in the OP).

@Quitti: Octomoos takes a while to build up the momentum. Astral meese are known to have higher accelleration because of the low mass.

I believe your Octomoose will lose simply by having too much legs to keep track of - meanwhile my endothermic astral moose will have long run the track, covering it in ice!

Re: Mooseknight: EA 12-nation game, Running

Oh! How embarrassing. I seem to have let 13 nations into a 12-nation game. I noticed when Alpine Joe posted in another game thread, that he broke is PC, and needed an extension. I thought he needed one here too, but OMG NO LANKA!

I'm very sorry about that, Alpine Joe! I guess your PC broke while we were getting our gods in. I'll delete Lanka from the OP.
