Seeking Arrow

Does the target commanders HP have any effect on the spell? Or is it a hard coded % change to kill/wound/fail? I hate to lose my brand new Gift-of-Reasoned commander to such a basic spell.

Re: Seeking Arrow

Seeking Arrow is an AN attack with 8 damage - it always hits a commander bar luck, air shield or any defensive dome rituals.

The damage is resolved by rolling a DRN added to the damage (2d6, 6s allow another roll) and a DRN subtracted from the damage.

High hp makes your commander likelier to survive the ritual.

Re: Seeking Arrow

Glad to hear that. Very glad.

As an aside: I tried to wish for an Eater, and he appeared and prompty destroyed my expensive, equipped, and oh-so-fragile mage. Is there any chance of "taming" such a creature or is summoning one via wish merely a handy way of committing suicide?

Re: Seeking Arrow

Which Eater? If you mean one of the Doom Horrors, theres about a 50% chance of them joining you IIRC.

what is IIRC ?

Well, I specifically tried calling Eater of Dreams and ended up getting the Eater of Gods. This was perhaps my... 4th time? casting Wish.

Re: Seeking Arrow

Dont bother trying to tame the horrors. Even if you get one properly, and then GoR it, they just randomly leave you whenever they feel like it. Wish for something powerful and reliable, like a Seraph or Chayot.

My end game experience is rather limited, either the game ends before the big spells come out, or I'm losing handily. I just wished for the creature that seemed to have the most fearsome name :)

Re: Seeking Arrow

Do Seeking Arrows target PD commanders, or only commanders recruited by the nation?

Re: Seeking Arrow

PD is invulnerable to everything but an attacking army.

Unrest has no effect on PD.

If you lose the province to unrest, you lose the pd.

Re: Seeking Arrow

SA are addressed only for the normal commanders, not PD. If you throw SA into the empty prowince (with PD but no commanders), the opponent will not even know you did it.
Edit: um, I replied to a question from the previous page.

Re: Seeking Arrow

You don't lose provinces to unrest. You lose provinces to random events that cause armies to attack.

Re: Seeking Arrow

I think what Chris wanted to say was that unrest was a prerequisite to the bad event that causes you to lose a province (uprising)

I think what you're saying is that chris doesn't differentiate between unrest (i.e. the numerical value of it that a province has) and the random event that makes a province turn against it's owner through a revolt, resulting in an independent province. I haven't checked the effects that PD has on it, I'd expect that only low-PD provinces revolt, same as with wishing for more provinces.

You can't wish for specific Doom Horrors, you're always just going to get one of them which is being determined randomly, even if you use their names.

Kheldron April 29th, 2010 03:03 PM

Re: Seeking Arrow

according to Edi's DB you only need unrest 10 and no troops in the province to get the revolt event. It doesn't say anything of PD but it could be

chrispedersen April 29th, 2010 06:45 PM

Re: Seeking Arrow

I've had provinces with significant pd revolt. Its why I mention it.
