New icons!

Hello everyone,

I know it's been a long time but here come some new graphics for WinSPMBT I have been coming up with.
Here are some shiny new icon sets for y'all to download and integrate in the game as you want.

Mil Mi-28 Havoc gunship helicopter, I think everyone knows this one.
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/5505/mi28series.png
Comes in only two flavors, basic and Mi-28N with mast-mounted radar and wingtip EW pods.

Yugoslav M-80 IFV series (no camo yet for this, a more complete to come later).
http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/685...riesnocamo.png
Includes:
-M-80 IFV (w/o & w/ ATGM)
-M-80A IFV (w/o & w/ ATGM)
-M-80AK IFV (w/o & w/ ATGM) (prototype only)
-M-80LT SPATGM (AT-3)
-M-80A1 SPAAG (twin 30mm)
-M-80A2 SPAAG (twin 40mm) (prototype only)

Czechslovak Vz.53/59 Praga SPAAG.
http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/5...ragaseries.png
No variants here, just a lot of nonstandard camoes that may come in handy as this thing was a staple of ground support for all parties in the Yugoslav civil war.

These series here are new and still work in progress to some extent, I will also post some backlog icons that have only made it into the Cold War 2020 mod for now.

More to come!

Thanks for the feedback!

A new Cold War 2020 mod issue for WinSPMBT v5.0 is in the works.
Sadly (or not), real life has been taking its toll and I still have two OOBs to finish and some deep file reshuffling (e.g. a truckload or two of icons to sort and link), thereby busting my usual 1-month-after-update-release deadline.
I can't make promises, but I'll try to get something out by end of June.

Nice set of Icons Plasma.
The level of color contrast on the M-80's set is a bit too much for my tastes but the level of detail is great. I realy like the Mi-28s and the Praga.:)

Re: New icons!

A new delivery:

Chinese light APC/ISV ZFB-05 aka New Star has been adopted by the Chinese PAP (People's Armed Police), put to service in peacekeeping operations in Haiti and is being exported to several African countries.
http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/4...b05series1.png
Variants illustrated here include:
-ZFB-05 basic light APC with MG/AGL in ring mount
-ZFB-05B, same with added armor on the front cab
-ZFB-05A with ring-mounted 23mm autocannon
-ZFB-08 lengthened APC version with ring-mounted 23mm autocannon
-(name unknown) proposed SP SAM variant with QW-2/4 teleoperated mount.

North Korean light APC / scout car only known as M-1992. A basic recon version has been paraded, armed with a AGS-17 AGL and a pintle-mounted AT-4/5 Fagot/Konkurs ATGM launcher.
A short-range 130mm MBRL derivative has also been observed.
http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/5651/m1992series.png

It appears that I had forgotten to post the existing CV-90 series, though it was already included in the Cold War mod R.C.0.7 release.
Oversight corrected:
http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/6574/cv90series.png
Included variants are:
-Swedish CV-9040 aka Strf 9040, basic IFV version
-Uparmored Swedish variant Strf 9040C, used in overseas deployments e.g. in Liberia and Afghanistan
-Export CV-9030 Mk2 as seen in Norway, Switzerland and Finland
-Export CV-9035 Mk3 as seen in Netherlands and Denmark
-Proposed CV-90105 light tank with TML-105 turret, here in Swedish camo (prototype only)
-Proposed CV-90120 light tank with 120mm gun in NATO standard camo (prototype only)
-CV-90 with AMOS twin-barreled automatic mortar system, here in two versions of the AMOS turret, tentatively set up for domestic production and export; no known production to this date
-CV-90 with projected Bofors BUSTER KE-ATGM system; some serious work was done on this in the 90s but the project was shelved for want of a threat on Sweden
-Swedish CV-9040AA aka Lvkv 9040, with added 3D radar for AA protection of mechanized troops.
-Swedish Lvkv 9040C, same as above with the add-on armor kit from the Strf 9040C
-Surveillance/AOP version known as Epbv 90 in Sweden, without autocannon.

Czech(oslovakian) RM-70 SPMRL series with various versions (with/out blade and armored cab) and proposed 223mm derivates (RM-22 and MORAK with new extended cab).
http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/1...eriesgreen.png
This is still a work in progress as there are no camo versions yet. I will post a completed set when done.

Work is still ongoing, I hope I will have more to post soon.

@Pierre, actually, the M-80 is quite subdued compared to the BMP series. I think you'll prefer the CV90 in this regard. This is my new base of work, and I find it difficult to deal with sloped surfaces.

Re: New icons!

After a quick glance, all icons look nice, esp. 53/59 SPAA and RM-70 :) Hope you checked my new thread, the pics might be of some inspiration and the current force structure as well.

Re: New icons!

Excellent work once more!
I especially like the RM-70 set.

My remark on the M-80 was more directed at the way you have made the access hatches. The slopes are fine IMO. If you want to see a nice way to treat sloped surfaces, take a look at oragus's Jagdpanthers. I think he has found a way to give depth to the slopes.

Thanks for keeping your 2020 mod going with each new update plasma. I am still playing 4.5 because I don't want to replace the mods I've assembled, suchas the SGT York DIVAD that never came to life, along with replacement Commanches with the uprated and upsensored OH-58's. Also, any chance of putting the Grizzly in the USMC OOB?

Well, the Grizzly sure is on my to-do list, but editing the base Abrams I have is not that easy. On my plate for the mod issue after the one in progress is modding the USMC OOB and reworking the US OOB (I redid the USSR from the ground up this time, these things take time). So yeah, it will probably come up, but I dare hope it won't be the awesomest addition in either the US or USMC OOBs ;)

Regarding mods, what I do is install several completely separate versions of the game. You can keep one clean for PBEM with the regular game, and mod as many as you want in parallel, as long as you take care to rename your shortcuts accordingly.

I'm not sure I get your question.
To download the files, click on the links embedded in the titles of each paragraph (the underlined part), which should send you to a Box.net page, where you just have to click on the big archive icon to start downloading the .zip pack with the bitmap icons inside.

Once this is done (or if this wasn't your question) you may want to integrate them into the game. For this you will need both MOBhack to update the OOBs and first and foremost SHPed to create or modify icon archives.
You will find a quick walkthrough of SHPed in this older thread and more details from Don in that one.

Have fun!

If you're interested I could give you a list of the icons "needed" for the USMC OOB :D

Hi PlasmaKrab,

I'm a big admirer of your mod and in the meantime, since the latest 5.0 patch came out I modified it a bit to make it playable again - it's great to hear you're working on a new version!

Re: New icons!

On an icon related topic...Andy/Don...you way want to consider stealing icon #3250 from WinSPWW2 for the LVT 3 Bushmaster (OOB 13 Unit 688). And both lbm #1953 and icon #3250 for the LVT 4 Buffalo (OOB 13 Unit 180).

PlasmaKrab, if you're inclined winter and desert icons aren't available for the LVT 3/LVT 4.

Re: New icons!

@Suhiir, these days I try to create my own icon sets from scratch, but I will try to look into the existing LVT icons.
If we're just talking new color schemes of existing icons, Don can do that at least as well as me in the official version.

Meanwhile, some fresh sets:

The near-ubiquitous ACV/AIFV/TIFV/KIFV/MIFV/whatever in most existing versions:
-Basic APC with MG and armor shield
-Basic IFV, 1-man turret with 25mm autocannon
-IFV with newer GIAT Dragar 1-man turret as fitted on some Turkish vehicles
-IFV with Cadillac-Gage 1-meter MG turret as proposed to Turkey by FNSS
-Basic APC with pintle-mounted ATGM, Milan on the basic version, Dragon on the KIFV, HJ-8 on the MIFV
-Dedicated SPATGM with folding TOW mount
-Higher-end SPATGM with folding ITV turret as on the US M-901
-Other SPATGM with TUA TOW turret as used in Turkey
-Open-top SP mortar, 81mm or 120mm
-Vulcan-based SPAA with regular M-163 open-top turret as used in South Korea
-SP-SAM with Aselsan Atilgan heavy Stinger mount as used in Turkey
http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/2...pres100621.png
Camo schemes as follows:
-Basic green, tan and white
-NATO 3-tone for Netherlands and Turkey
-Temperate MERDC camo for South Korea (without rear hull fuel tanks)
-Tropical splinter 4-tome camo for Malaysia (can double as Pakistani Talha APC in a good light)
-Generic high-contrast desert tan-brown

A follow-on to the AIFV developed by FNSS of Turkey, the ACV-S has to date only been ordered in small quantities by Malaysia in mortar variant.
Proposed versions that have made it to the prototype stage:
-Basic APC with MG and armor shield
-Basic IFV, new 1-man Sharpshooter turret with 25mm autocannon
-Improved IFV with 2-man LAV-30 turret
-Support vehicle wiht KBP Bakhcha turret as offered at IDEX 2005
-SP mortar with Longhorn semi-auto 120mm mortar
http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/1...pres100621.png

Specially for the Cold War 2020 mod, the ill-fated TH-495.
A German export design from the late 80s, not developed for want of markets, but planned (unrealistically?) for production and service in Germany and Canada.
Included several planned and imaginary variants:
-APC with remote-controlled HMG
-IFV with OTO-Melara HITFIST turret
-IFV with Kuka E-4 turret
-SPATGM with Kvaerner Eureka ALT TOW turret
-SPATGM with remote-controlled pedestal mount for TRIGAT (fictional)
-SP mortar with Finnish NEMO automatic gun-mortar turret (fictional)
-SP-SAM with ASRAD-D mount (fictional)
-SP-SAM with ADATS turret (fictional)
http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/3...pres100621.png
Hope you enjoy them, stay tuned for more!

Wow! :) Very nice. These icons are really excellent. I will download a new copy of your Mod asap. It has been a while since I have had time to play.

Stupid question - how do I use these icons? I want to add those CV90 variants, for example. How can I do that?

Re: New icons!

Somewhere here on the forum there is a whole post devoted to icon editing. Type in "icon editor" and see how you do. The programme you would be using is the "Shp editor" provided with the game.

Here, have a look at this:
