Getting rid of a disease ?
My pretender (arch-mage) was accidently diseased by a unknown magic site. Sinc he is rainbow, , resurrecting him will cost lots of magic. I tried to lichcraft him, but when returning as a wight he still has the disease affliction. I need to get rid of this disease...

Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
As a Wight, the disease affliction should not cause HP loss or further afflictions. The Arch Mage can be cured by healing units such as Arco's priestess, the Fairy Queen etc. He can also be cured by the spell "Gift of Health" or the artifact "The Chalice".

Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
Yes, i know that, but iirc GoH and healers cant get rid of a disease-affliction, can they ?
Of course, if the wight isnt affected by diseases as in no more afflictions and no health loss, everything is ok. thanks. So demons and undeads can get the disease, but wont get the actual effect ? |
Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
Healers can get rid of all effects including disease from almost any creature, with the exception being undead units and old units. Gift of Health and the Chalice can cure undead.
Here is a more detailed description of how it works: Quote:

Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
As an addendum, sometimes you can cure an old age affliction by making them not old. I think.
Ie., if they are old, and get afflicted, and you then empower in nature they can then be cured. But I forget an awful lot =) |

Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
If your archmage get some other afflictions from the disease before dying, not that the transformation into a wight also has a chance to remove some afflictions.

Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
I've noticed the living dead don't seem to heal afflictions very easily, or at all. Is that just me?

Chalice and GoH heal independently of old age. |
Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
I wasn't suggesting that the mechanism only worked sometimes.
I was saying that sometimes it is not feasible to empower in nature (or other appropriate) to make the commander not old. If a commander has n1, and is 3 years over the age limit, 30 nature gems to allow a valuable arch mage to be healed may be something to consider. If the mage is 574 years old, and old age started at 500 you are probably not going to empower him = ). |

The aging mechanics are listed quite thoroughly in the FAQ. The healing afflictions section does need a slight reworking, which I'll get around to doing soon. EDIT: FAQ updated |

And Edi is, of course, right regarding the maxage. |
Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
Yeah, just a thistle mace does the trick with some of my old age Man Crones. It's close, they have to have N4 to begin with, just a few years here and there can be the key. But I've been able to save maybe half of them from old age with just a thistle mace.

Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
I do have question; say I have an old age-caused disease. What happens if I equip my hero with EoL... does he die and rise again, or just stay dead ignoring the EoL? What, if he dies aviolent death in a battle before the disease gets him? Will he come back fully healed?

Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
He either stops losing hp or rises again as a crippled husk of what he used to be. I remember experimenting with elixirs of life and a fever fetish, but I don't exactly remember the outcome.

Re: Getting rid of a disease ?
he does not stop losing HP, thats for sure. So I am wondering wether it is worth to lose an item such as EoL -> is he gonna get back up diseased?
