Ageless Olm coldblood?
Hi there!
I ran a few test games (CBM 1.6) with Agartha and the ageless olm pretender and found that he gains fatigue rather quickly when fighting against units with chill aura. So i was wondering if he is coldblooded like the pale ones althought its not mentioned in the unit description? Does anybody know? |
Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
I don't think it's possible for a unit to have an attribute (like coldblooded)without the icon showing up on the unit screen. There's a couple of attributes that lack icons, coldblooded isn't one of them.

Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
i was wondering because inside a chill aura, for example of a niefel jarl, he turns blue for a turn and than gains a lot of fatigue. I thought this is strange considering that he has innate 50% frost resistence.

Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
50% CR isn't enough to prevent fatigue from cold effects. It should lessen it, but neifel chill auras are very strong.
If he was cold blooded, he'd pick up extra fatigue just from fighting in cold provinces. |
Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
ah i understand ...so 50% CR is only enough to elimniate the damage done by chill but not to prevent fatigue.
|
Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
Chill auras don't cause damage directly. They cause fatigue, and excessive fatigue can then cause damage.
|
Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
aha ... i thought chill is something like cold damage as i have missed the fatigue effect? Anyway then it seems like that chill is somehow more potent than heat aura. heat aura seems to do damage only which the ageless olm can handle more easily with the 50% FR.

Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
Heat aura is also fatigue only, but it sometimes sets units on fire, damaging them.
|
Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
I always thought the turning blue was the unit freezing and that it had a random chance like being set on fire with a heat aura. Though I believe freezing only causes fatigue as opposed to the damage caused by fire.
So that would partly explain why he gained more fatigue from a cold aura unit. Also bear in mind that a neifel Jarl might have a cold aura stronger than the heat aura of several abysians. Were the heat/cold auras of the units your olm fought equal? Were there more cold units than heat units? |
Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
It should also be noted that being set on fire also causes fatigue.

Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
Freezing inflicts more fatigue and also att/def penalties.
This is in addition to fatigue from just being in the aura. As Nikelaos suggested, I suspect the main reason the chill was more effective is that Neifel Jarls have very strong chill auras. They have 18, while the standard Abysian heat aura is only 3. I'm not sure how auras stack. |
Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
yes maybe the strong chill auras of the niefel jarls are the reason. I tried the arch devil with heat 7....its not enough to bother the olm while chill 18 is a problem. also had a closer look and found that no need to turn blue to gain the fatigue from niefel jarls chill and its seems to be 18 fatigue each turn anyway of 50% CR. But with a ring chill/heat is no problem at all and att/def penalties maybe only take effect when freezing (turn blue) and is counterpart to being set on fire?

Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
100% resistance will prevent you getting frozen/set on fire aswell as making you immune to the fatigue.
High fatigue causes penalties to attack and defence, aswell as making it easier to score a critical hit on the unit. Fatigue over 100 makes the unit fall unconcious and unable to act. |

Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
Can a frost ring negate coldblood?
|
Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
No, it'll just negate frost aura (and IIRC the extra 2 points of enc anybody gets in a cold-3 province).
|
Re: Ageless Olm coldblood?
Sucks to be coldblooded!

I wouldn't rub it in their face though, unless you want to lose your arm/legs/head/nipples...etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they are man-eaters (to hell with the 'Jaws' myth), but just because we are not a favoured food source doesn't mean they'll take our abuse. |
