What is your favorite nation and why?

Since I've been in a rut, I figured I would start this to see if anyone can get the juices flowing.

My favorite nation is Caelum. In a fantasy game, I love the Caelum theme. The feeling I get when I fly in an army of death upon an unsuspecting enemy and take out all of the border provinces in one fell swoop is sheer power. Then when your enemy figures out how to counter the lightning, you trot out the mammoths and unleash a barrage of arrows and turn your enemies to trampled pin cushions.

My favorite is Pangaea. I love the unit selection and the Carrion Woods theme. BTW I live in TN as well :).

I like the random nation because of the variance and possibilities. My enemies will never know in time what they are going to be against.

Ryleh (MA/LA) without any shadow of doubt, it's theme score goes through the roof, even the execution of the theme is very interesting and different.

Let's see:

Pythium: Angels and A. Theurgs and astral dominance

Caelum: great raiding fun, lots of options with flight across the board

Jotun: Werewolves on steroids

Ctis, Pangaea, Ermor & R'lyeh: flavor

Shinuyama. Yeah, they suck, but they're fun. You can pour out hordes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles backed by bandit archers with mean swords. And the Bakemono Sorcerers can lay down a variety of pain very easily. My only complaint: NO SHIELDS!

Thematically speaking Bogarus, they bare an ancient Slovenian flavored mythology which I'm rather fond of.

Mictlan, Jotunheim, Midgard.

I think one of your assumption are faulty, Shinuyama is in fact pretty awesome! It's totally one of the strongest MA nations.

EA Caelum was my first love, although these days I frown at their lack of a stable basic unit-lineup. It's really awesome to be able to fly in a large force to break a fortress in one turn.

My other love was MA Pythium, just for the air and astral are together, and because legionaries are pretty damn fun to build an offense around. And endgame full of angel helps.

C'tis, the lizards always remembered me a character from my first and most loved game

LA Ermor, ever since the PPP days. Name any other game that allows you to enslave the world with necromancy and turn it into undead-ridden wasteland?

Re: What is your favorite nation and why?

MA Abysia for me. First i prefer having just enough tools than having a (a confusing) plethora of them and this nation has it in small magic and troop diversity. I also like their four magic path, especially blood magic and the horror summoning capability, and also the sheer power in their "I came, I saw, I set u on fire" approach. And I find enjoyment in the challenge to work with this few options. EDM 1.1 with zmeys and ember lords plays no small part in my preference of this nation.

Their theme catches me: the declining, small empire of masters of fire and evil warlocks with their experiments, enslaving the neighboring human provinces, sacrificing their inhabitants but still cant avoid their destiny to be extinct eventually (like a greek tragedy).

And perhaps the main reason: about 90% of my RPG characters were some kind of evil mages - some of them outright warlocks - so it was kinda natural for me to pair up with the masters of the abysian empire.

EA Pangaea. I am pretty sure the game devs were listening to James Brown's "Sex machine" and RATM's "Bulls on parade", and then went to look in history/myths for something that would fit the lyrics of those two songs ;)

bloody mary for sure (late marignon). Fire and lightning and blood and astral, and I love their theme of corruption by Ulm's Illuminated Order. Plus some awesome national summons and perhaps the 2nd best blood sacrifice in the game.

Bogarus, Sauro and EA C'tis are definitely close favorites too.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Late Marignon are the strongest at blood sacrificial, it's one of the things that makes the nation so grossly unfair in some match ups.

My favorite is EA T'ien Ch'i. Love the demons of heaveny rivers and fire.

Bandar Log. Monkies! Unlimited monkies!! Plus some of my favourite national SC summons in the game. There's just so many possibilities with a four-armed guy.

Also LA Ulm, because vampires (that don't sparkle in the sun) are always cool.

Re: What is your favorite nation and why?

Yeah, the monkey nations are really fun, but what's better than a monkey? A demon monkey!(demon ape to be exact) Lanka is a really neat nation, tons of fun units and some really brilliant summons as well. Plus the theme of the nation is just great.

My other favourite has to be Jomon, for one simple reason, Shrimp Warriors!

What's better than uber bad *** fay vikings riding the lightning, dispensing death all over with dwarven forged gear and sacrificing human thralls to appease their bloody god? Necromantic ones! Helheim is just awesome thematically and fun to play.

Re: What is your favorite nation and why?

Speaking of Helheim, Baalz, thanks for your Helheim guide. The general strategy worked quite well for me.

I like Agartha. I just like theme of an ancient underground civilization, and earth magic is pretty nice. Also MA Agartha is the only nation I've ever won an mp game with, oddly enough. It's a shame EA and MA are so bad.
