I'll give Patala a try.

I assume hosting will drop back to daily after the holidays? At least until things get complicated.

Indeed they will, I'll keep a somewhat longer hosting interval until new year-ish. Than it's back to 24h per turn until it's requested otherwise.

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry Full

Ok we're full.
Start making your pretenders and I'll set up the game as soon as I can.
Also, I think the I put the link for the wrong map, there are two versions on the Llamaserver map browser (you have to use the old one, the new one doesn't have the map, wrong link) however one is World of Geometry and the other is World of Symetry, although both are under the same name.
I'll set the correct link as soon as I can.

Executor December 24th, 2010 03:45 AM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry Full

Scratch that, it appears that the WorldofSymmetry map on the server is ok, it just has a faulty link.
The map I attached should be fine to use, expect that I can't seem to upload the fixed, well more fixed, version of it to the Llamaserver so we'll have to use the one Vfb posted (it's on the old map browser).

All you have to do is download the map I attacked in the OP and rename the tga back to "worldofsymetry2" and it should be fine.

So, game created, send in pretenders so we can get started.
Cheers.

And we're off!!

Ahem. Sorry.

An Age has ended. The final war begins! This time the lesser peoples shall be swept away and the apes rule all!

And we're off!
I've delayed the game 96 hours due to holidays, hopefully everyone will keep sending their turns no matter. And I'll keep an eye on the clock so that nobody stales if we do host a but sooner.
We should get back to regular schedule around January 2-3.

Also, any remarks about using the wrong pretender, glitches, and ofter stuff speak up before the game gets going, there will be no turning back afterward.

Cheers.

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry Send Pretenders

I should note that the mapfile on the server is apparently buggy. I found two provinces that have incorrect terrain, and at least one missing province neighbors. They are correct in the downloadable map.

I could not find additional errors after a cursory search on provinces.

I'm going to be out of town for a few days.
Delay please hosting till everning 5.01.11

Since no one else has said anything, Marignon is our first casualty.

Thanks for playing it out to the bitter end. I got to see your breakout attempt. It was an impressive effort. I really thought you were going to win it for a bit there. If your mages had spammed Blood Boil instead of Fire Flies...

Oh, right, I'm the admin.

Thanks for playing ghoul_31, and much appreciated for sticking it out til the last man!

I've grown quite fond of this map, it seems big for only 10 players but it really isn't, as soon as you get into the central lands battles start, and o have I seen some good battles!

Festin January 22nd, 2011 07:53 AM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 9/10 left

So, I finally lost my capital. Good work, Bogarus.

But do not think that this is over. Whatever happens, we will fight to the end.

Thanks, I've frankly had it over my head with your thugs, they sure whooped, or should I say whipped my ars. ;)
I think I'll try Jomon in some future game, I've grown very fond of them.

That was one lucky shuriken ninja assassin btw...

Oh, and congrats on that very lucky win Vanheim, that was fun to watch.

This is my second time playing Jomon in MP, and both of them ended exactly the same way - using thugs to fight a long hopeless battle against superior armies and mages. I conclude that the thugs are good, but Jomon as a whole has problems.

And now CBM killed the hammers, so no more budget thugs for Jomon. Sad.

Executor,

Could you increase hosting interval? At least to 27h.

Executor January 23rd, 2011 08:58 PM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 9/10 left

Certainly, hosting interval changed to 27h.

We've had a really good run, but please say so if you need delays and bigger increase of hosting interval.

The flag of Midgard has fallen.
Presumably due to early war on two fronts.

GL! :)

Hello

Do you think possible to increase the hosting interval to 48h ? It became difficult for me to play every day

Arnob

Dimaz January 27th, 2011 09:10 AM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 9/10 left

I agree it's time for 48h.

Executor January 27th, 2011 05:14 PM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 9/10 left

I'm in need of a bigger interval as well. Hosting changed to 48h.

Thank you for participating don_Pablo and holding on till the very end, this has been a gentlemens game with everyone fighting till the end and almost no stales, I very much hope this continues.

Cheers everyone.

NooBliss January 27th, 2011 05:47 PM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 8/10 left

I wouldnt exactly call surrendering all one's lands to one enemy without a fight to run amok and try the 'burning earth' thing in other players lands while avoiding battles at all costs to stall for time a 'gentlemens' behaviour.
I wouldnt even call it 'fighting till the end' - fighting implies, you know, fighting. Surviving, defending etc. But oh well.

Executor, I'm going to have to ask for a day's delay.
I've gotten much of it done, but this is an important turn and I just don't have any more time before the deadline.

Thanks

Executor February 4th, 2011 08:01 AM

24h added.

thejeff February 6th, 2011 10:03 AM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 8/10 left

I hate to do it, but I'm going to have to ask for another delay. I had time today, but I've just been drafted to spend the day trying to clear a foot of ice off a friend's roof.

Executor February 6th, 2011 10:28 AM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 8/10 left

Well, you see good deeds don't pay off now?

Game delayed 24h, I assume that is sufficient this time too.

P3D February 9th, 2011 10:13 PM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 8/10 left

Now I have to ask for a 30h extension. Will try to submit earlier than the deadline, but I am just too busy this week.

And I do not want to disappoint the audiences scrying the shows :P

I will declare war on the next player that asks for a delay!

30h delay granted. :)

That ninja never fails to surprise me.

Dimaz February 12th, 2011 07:28 AM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 8/10 left

What happened there, some sort of a bug? I didn't understand how the ninja managed to siege the castle.

Executor February 12th, 2011 10:40 AM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 8/10 left

Heh, would you look at that?
No bug, I set my troops to storm the fort, and left one commander with simargls to patrol it. He caught a few scouts along with the ninja, and than in the fight his shurikens killed the patrolling commander, and since I took the fort all the troops and commanders went inside since storming seems to happen before patrolling in turn order, so Jomons assassin took the province.

There's just one thing that seems like a minor bug. It seems all the scouts in the province are first caught and than battle follows randomly, which means even if your patrolling force loses the rest of the sneaking enemies will fight it out among themselves, as Gath? or someone attacked Jomons assassin in the end after my partoler was killed.

Festin February 12th, 2011 11:26 AM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 8/10 left

Yes, Patala's scout attacking the ninja was a nice finishing touch to the whole thing.

But I wonder if you are correct about the bug. Wouldn't such situations happen more often if what you say is true? I have never heard about sneaking units fighting each other.

By the way, the ninja is still shown as hiding. I did not know it was possible to maintain siege and hide at the same time.

thejeff February 12th, 2011 11:49 AM

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 8/10 left

My scout certainly wasn't set to attack, so it does seem that patrolling all happens first. Which it does in the turn order. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but isn't likely to cause a lot of problems.

I believe sneakers who are caught but beat the patrollers are always still hiding, even though they take the province. Technically he's not sieging, but he is there which is apparently enough to keep control. Much like leaving a non-commander unit will keep control (and let you see what he tries to break siege with)

This is probably tied to the exploit that lets Pans or other stealthy summoners hold forts down indefinitely.

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry 8/10 left

Err, arnob, if you wouldn't mind being a little more specific as from when you'll be needing the delay?

The current turn is about to host in a few hours, so can you can make the next turn before you lose internet connection so I delay the turn after the next one to save some time, or should I add a week to the timer as soon as this turn hosts?
I don't mind giving the delay, I just rather not add more time than needed.
