Meet the Dom3 Manual Author At Comic Con

If anyone is going to SDCC everyone's favorite neurologist, Dr. Bruce Geryk, and author of the Dominions 3 manual will be part of a panel Friday night, June 22nd. The panel is "The Science of Zombies: How Possible Is a Zombie Virus?" and will be at Room 8 from 7:30 until 8:30.

I know little about these "conventions" but I reckon that if you ask a question about Dominions 3 at a panel about zombies, you're going to get kicked out.

Thank you brxbrx for making it clear that it said "meet the author" and not "question the author".
(yes I know that wasnt your intention. Im giving you a support forum response)

I did count more than 9 in here but it might be wrong, sure. Then again, I doubt. But sorry to disturb this thread! Good luck in SDCC, whatever it is!

No they tend to take things pretty seriously (much like the forums here).

They have discussions on Star Wars, Star Trek, Alphas, X-Men, etc etc. These are degreed people facing down the fan-mob experts. The facts fly, the justifications are deep tech or deep science, and truthfully tends to lose me quickly.

Err, OK, thank you. So one final, succinct question:

That's the post. Does the guy who wrote the Dom 3 manual believe there are such things as zombies? Thanks.

Why?
In a discussion of how possible something is, I dont think any of them jump up and say they believe its already true. They tend to be more discussions of how it COULD become true. At least all the others Ive watched did.

I suppose someone in the crowd could ask him that. But I suspect it would just get a laugh (which wouldnt be a no either) :)

In all probability, its a discussion of the extent to which "zombies" could be possible, and the situations that would be needed to have it happen to that extent.

From wiki:

Quote:

Zombie (Haitian Creole: zonbi; North Mbundu: nzumbe) is a term used to denote an animated corpse brought back to life by mystical means such as witchcraft.
So they're not "possible" (in the normal-ish sense of the word), hence I would imagine the discussion would be pretty short... :)

Since the panel name mentions science and virus, not magic, Id guess they are more discussing the TV version in which someone "dies" or seems to die and then gets back up with a damaged mind. I suspect it will be an enjoyable panel if you can follow the medical jargon.

Or even a case where someone doesn't die, gets some sort of virus, and becomes zombie like. That is possible to some extent, with the obvious example being rabies, which does do the whole spreading, increased aggression, loss of mental stability thing, all of which are traits common to zombies. One could certainly look at the upper end of what a disease could do to make one "zombie like", and the probabilities thereof.
