Pisachas and Ganas

In one of my multiplayer games, I've come across an indy province with Pisachas and Ganas. A key position I need to secure lies just on the other side of this province, and the next closest route takes me through a dozen provinces already held by two or more players.

The problem I am facing is that I've never encountered either unit before and have no basis of reference to judge their strength.

I'd check the wiki, but it seems to be down, and the best information google offers is an off-hand mention that Pisachas are an undead gorillas (Lankan unit?), and that a patch gave Ganas a spectral shield. Could anyone elaborate on either unit?

Thanks.

pisachas are bandar ghouls, and ganas are vana ghosts.

Both are undead, ganas are ethereal, and pisachas should have poison claws.
ganas should have some armor, but not much. they also have shields.

Re: Pisachas and Ganas

Ganas are ethereal undead monkeys. Pisachas are large undead ghoul monkeys Aka ghouls on crack. Large conventional armies kill them. Low amount of strong sacreds that are not po res get frozen by the Pisachas and then killed. And usually the province that they guard has low population anyway.

Hint: Use Z on a province with a recent battle to view the battle report, and shift U to insert units. That way you can view them without having the wiki!

Thanks for the reply.

The news is troubling... My party isn't built to combat undead, and my accompanying thug relies on fear and awe. Looks like I'll need to redirect other troops or give up on the venture completely.

Le sigh.

You can clear that province with your prophet set to banish, a bunch of archers on Fire Large Monsters (so they target the shieldless ghouls), and an infantry screen to stop the undead from getting to your prophet and archers.

I can have a couple priests there in 3 turns, but no sooner. While I don't have eyes directly on the other side, the lake that forms half of the chokepoint falls within my dominion, exposing the black candles on the other side. By the time I'm able to clear them out, I'll have lost my chance. Rotten luck, that! I'll just have to make do without such a choice piece of land.

Actually, fear and awe should work. They are not mindless.

Also, if you can build a lab you can load up with magic items as necessary. Even a paralyzed thug can kill enemies if loaded out with, for instance, a charcoal shield.

Fear and awe are both morale based effects, so they work best against low-normal morale units.

Wiki looks to be up now and it's saying the Ganas have morale 15 and the Pisachas 18, so I wouldn't count on the awe doing much in that fight.

The good news is both appear to have not very impressive MR (12 for the Ganas & 8 for the Pisachas). So Deathblob's banish idea should work pretty well, if you have blockers to hold them at bay. Of course, it sounds like there are no nearby priests... :(

Really? I've been playing under the assumption all undead were mindless or had ridiculously high morale!

Well, I ordered the attack this turn. I was able to secure 3 priests and few other casters. Even at H1 it should be something. I've got a nice sturdy shield wall about 3 dozen strong, and assorted other troops on the flanks. It may end up being overkill, but hey.

Oh brother!

Yeah, but as Hrum said, they do have pretty good morale, so don't make awe/fear your only defense.
