New Scenario Available
"The Awakening" a Space Empire IV scenario.
Download it here. Unzip it to your scenario folder and run from the scenario menu at start up. This is a rather large game. You and 18 AI races in a huge (200+ system) quadrant. If you have trouble running large games on your pc, this will be one. Turns may take a while. If anyone is interseted I could make a smaller Version of it, say 10 AI in a medium quadrant. Let me know. Should be very difficult. You are going to be well behind at the start and the AI are not going to like you at all, so don't count on sneaking up on them or anything. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif The only thing that could be a problem is if they just leave you alone too long. Let me know if that happens in your game. I may have to do some tweaking on this one to get a good balance between too hard and too easy. Geoschmo |

Re: New Scenario Available
mmm Geo. is it seto run the tech you get on at random? I had NO rec points NO intel no space ports and no way to rec them you are right about it being hard!

Re: New Scenario Available
Yep, you have to build space ports and research facilities before you can start researching stuff.

Re: New Scenario Available
this is hard! really challenging. i thought of an idea for a PBW game where one or two players would be super powerful and isolated from the rest like gods and could do stuff but the others could band together... not really developed yet. I also noticed Legacy of Ancients, haven't been able to reach game owner and want to know how he does a dungeon master thing in this game, gives people things/random events that he controls?
agian, nice job on the mod. |

B-u-i-l-d, not research http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
In other words, you should start out with them. It's just a matter of making them. Phoenix-D |

Re: New Scenario Available
Eeep! This is one BIG scenerio. Taking upwards of half a minute to run each turn, and I haven't even built anything yet! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: New Scenario Available
Oy. I'm getting demolished by intelligence attacks.. I think I should have researched that beforehand http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Just had my first major battle. Two of those old battleships tore into an Xi'Chung fleet of 30, and killed half of it before being overwhelmed by parisite attacks. Phoenix-D |
Re: New Scenario Available
Ooo, I didn't think about the AI using intel against you.
How long did it take before they showed up, or did you go looking for them first? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Geoschmo |
Re: New Scenario Available
I didn't go looking for them. Current turn is 2408.8, I made contact with the first empire (Jraenar) 7.6. The others found me shortly thereafter.
I'm bleeding resources now; the intel is ripping my empire to shreds, even though not one AI has physically attacked. Two colonies rioting and two totally wiped out by food poisoning. I'm down to three salvaged ships, one stuck in mothballs (and bombed there) the other en-route to kill a Druska dreadnaught..and I just made contact with the Cu-Cappa, on the other side of the empire from all the other contacts.. and thus all the other defenses! On a slightly more amusing note, one of my colony ships has been running back and forth for 10 turns trying to colonize the system next to where it was built. First it got to within one square.. and a ship bomb blew up the colony component. Then it "lost" all it's fuel on the way back; the delay let another bomb hit the colony module. Now a cargo bomb spaced all the population on the way back AGAIN. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif Phoenix-D |
Re: New Scenario Available
Er, heh. Maybe I need to revise the scenario to remove intel operations. It's one thing to be behind enomically and technically, but to have to face the intel too may make this an unwinnable scenario.
I'll tinker with it a couple days. Geoschmo |
Re: New Scenario Available
Part of the problem is I'm in contact with around 6 AI empires.. and you set team mode. That means none of their intel is going against each other, it's all coming down on my head.
I wonder if there's a way to make the AI hate the player and still fight each other. The only option I can think of is MEE- if they don't stop their conflicts for that. Phoenix-D |
Re: New Scenario Available
IIRC the ai still fights in MEE. You coudl do t hat ina pregame setting by giving the player a much higher score htan the others nad then letting it fester till the AI HATED His guts. i think MEE is only per turn increase so in theory you could make peace withthe AI later with enough gifts and time

Re: New Scenario Available
The AI will tend to band together if there is a MEE in the game as well. I don't think its as drastic as team mode, but the exsistance of a MEE will positivley modify their mood towards the other AI races. Actually in team mode they will fight if they are close to each other. They will fight over claimed systems. But that only means each AI is fighting with the 2 AI on either side of them. They would be partners with all the others.
