BSoD (Newbie, LA, CBM 1.92) [Started!]

Name; Blood, Astral, or Death (aka. BSoD)
Host: The land of Peruvian Llamas (aka Llamaserver)
Age: LA
Map: Cradle of Dominion
How Often on Turns: 24 hours quickhost to turn 24, then 36-48 hours after. We may go up to 72h or in extreme cases 96h, if the late game is that tedious.
Number of Players: A good number. I.E. I couldn't be bothered to figure one out.
Mods: CBM 1.92
Non-Standard Settings: Special Site freq. 40%; Hall of Fame entries 15; No graphs;
Victory Conditions: Last one standing (or whoever is willing to go on with the late game grind)
Diplomacy Policy: All trades are expected to be completed. It's just good sportsmanship. Everything else? Go nuts. Just keep in mind that breaking treaties may or may not earn you a reputation, both in game and out. You can also choose whether or not to keep treaties secret or announce them publically in the thread (or via message system). Doesn't do anything, of course, except makes betrayals known (and thus attaches a cost to breaking treaties). Coalitions against one nation are also allowed.

Also, you are allowed to pick LA Ermor or LA R'lyeh, just remember that doing so will likely make you an automatic diplomatic pariah. No one likes bordering those pop-killing dominions and all.

Also, the more thematic and IC you are for in-game and diplomatic messagings, the more awesome points you win (redeemable for absolutely nothing).

NATIONS (11/11)
LL (me) - LA Marignon
parone - LA C'tis
HolyDooley - LA Abysia
ShardPhoenix - LA Ulm
revenant2 - LA Ermor
Blubbernaught - LA Ryleh
Ossa - LA Patala
Russian_Comrade - LA Atlantis
schoelle - LA Midgard
mattyburn - LA Bogarus
Aderion - LA Pangaea

I'm trying to play two other games. They have not started yet. Is playing in three games very time consuming? If it is not then I would really like to join.

Re: BSoD (Newbie, LA, CBM 1.92) (recruiting!)

From personal experience, I'd strongly recommend against starting 3 new games at once. Chances are you won't make it to endgame (or even midgame, if you're unlucky) in all three, but even 2 games that are both at turn 40 can get very time consuming. And if you make it to turn 60 or 80 in 2 or more games at once... there aren't enough hours in the day.

Now we just need a R'yleh and we'll have all the popkilling fun in the world.
:p
Although given the map, it would be difficult for a primary water nation.

Also, revising the special site frequency down to 40%, from 45%. Not a tremendous difference, but it should make some.

You don't need to be afraid of Bone Daddy. Bone Daddy is like a lovable, crazy uncle that likes a good laugh -- except he enjoys eating humanoids and has a hobby of destroying nations. However, He draws the line at eating those foul fish creatures from the stars. Yuck! Even without a nose he can't stand the smell.

Bone Daddy does require a new player to join the game at once. If you're reading this and aren't already a designated player (future players will henceforth be referred to as future victims) join or else face his wrath.

Have you ever played against LA Ermor? I`ve tried once. With LA Pangaea (trampling minotaurs and "dust to dust" spam). I`ve lost, even with financial help from other players..
It`s not about killing undead - it`s about killing ~10000 of them on turn 20. And it only gets worse.

I just hope the last one of us will be Jomon - They, at least, have some nice anti-Ryelh troops underwater.

But if Ermor isn`t stopped really early on, our midgame is going to consist of desperate last stands.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that you're not a big fan of LA Ermor :)

I've never played with them or against them in MP, but if there's issues in using them I can bow out. The reason I'm playing them is because I'm currently playing EA and MA Ermor in two other MP games -- my only MP experience so far (one of which is in its final stages), and I wanted to complete the trifecta.

A cursory look at the Ermor strategy guides tells me that the nation is a bit of a one-trick pony with a ton of weaknesses and lots of counters, so I'm not sure how they could be such an unstoppable juggernaut. Admittedly, they seem to have a good mid game, but they look almost weak at the end game when SCs and powerful battlefield magic effectively neuter them.

This is purely anecdotal, but in my MA Ermor game, I lost an entire army of 1,000+ cavalry units to a single well placed spell. Admittedly, it's different age but the mechanics are similar, i.e., chaff armies can be easily brought down with the right tactics.

one caveat, tho. remmember, merely your dominion will kill our population when u r LA ermor. that makes u a very inconvenient neighbor. so u might get more negative early game attention than u r used to. but u prob can handle it.

Re: BSoD (Newbie, LA, CBM 1.92) (recruiting! 11/12)

Population. Who really needs them, anyway? I'm sure that the "Friends of Bone Daddy" wouldn't let a few of their dead citizens stand in the way of true friendship.

For those that do we'll magnanimously implement a "no temple on your border" policy, although you'll need to provide your own preachers. A small gratuity of death gems would be warmly accepted as well, but I'm not greedy -- not yet anyway.

Re: BSoD (Newbie, LA, CBM 1.92) (recruiting! 11/12)

Alright, so beyond T'ien C'hi switching over to Abysia, I don't think we have the last slot.

Would everyone like to go with just 11 people (by majority consensus, excluding me)?

I would also like to set a policy on rollbacks. I believe in general, we should avoid them like smallpox. But, if there is a turn (early on, mind), in which the supermajority (i.e. 80%) push for one, we can have it. If we agree, I can also give Ossa his random'd nation.

Also guys, if you're afraid of Ermor, don't fret! I'd suggest communioned banishments (for those of us with access to Astral and Holy mages). Or a crystal matrix+high level priest and a communion. Also Crystal shield.

If you don't have access to that, well: wind guided-flaming arrow'd armies of archers always work. Lammashatas potentially, and lesser horrors if you're into blood. Communion'd thunderstrikes? Large AoE spells like fire clouds also do well.

...I will also be willing to forge Flambeaus for those who wish to pay the price (forge cost+a small fee for the mage turn).

All of their counters belong to late game, except for Wither Bones and national H3 priests. And in late game Ermor has Burden of Time + Utterdark.

That`s why you need to eat half of the map before endgame. And then you cast Burden of time.

Only a thousand? Thousand is a small expansion party for LA Ermor.

Only to be replaced by more chaff. Lost 100 chaff to kill 1 enemy troop? It`s OK ratio for you.

2 Lammashtas * 50 turns = 100 chaff killed at most. Doesn`t sound like a good usage of mage time - better spam Dust to dust, I`d say.

Yeah, Ermor needs to keep expanding to survive. GOt to grab as much chaff-generating provinces before the really nasty anti-undead counters come online. Anyone that tries to fight you in the early game will probably receive a nice shiny dagger delivered to the back by his neighbors, so there's a disincentive to do that.
