Helheim!

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory!

Lanka, please.

I'm strictly speaking not a noob, but it's been a good 5 or so years since I've played regularly, and I was never very good to begin with. Also, the current version of CBM is alien to me, so I feel like noob where that's concerned.

Knai April 2nd, 2012 12:16 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory!

Sauromatia or Arcocephale for me.

bobskizzle April 2nd, 2012 12:34 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory!

Ermor here.

(I don't expect to do terribly well so I'll do this game concurrently with the Team game)

The Eagle Kings kindly asks the Abysians to keep their flames low to the ground so you don't singe our wings! Especially those Fire-breathers Holey...keep em tame!!

We also say hello to The Russian_Comrade and other friends out there. Cheers Mates!

Russian_Comrade April 2nd, 2012 04:02 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory!

Yeah. Hello, birdies. Do you know that in some strange world the eagle is the symbol of rotten capitalism and consumerism? But we fear not the strange imagery - for the world is full of future friends. They may even resist our friendship but friendship conquers all at the end. The way of true friendship may be hard - it will be a difficult road with a lot of necessary sacrifices to do. But no cost is too great to see All Under Heaven united at last.

My communist nation will bring law and order in this world. We are but are modest followers of Great Leader Chairman. We wish nothing but peace and prosperity for the entire world.

All will become one with the Great Tien Chi!

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [RECRUITING : 1 MORE]

I like the look of this map guys: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/attac...1&d=1248122009..

20 provinces each roughly, only a tiny amount of sea provinces.... what do you think?

mattyburn7 April 2nd, 2012 07:42 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [RECRUITING : 1 MORE]

I like that idea. Some room for growth, etc.

Angry_Hominid April 2nd, 2012 07:53 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [RECRUITING : 1 MORE]

Ok with a consensus of 2 I proclaim that map to be the one :). I have set up the game on llama server titled Stumble_to_Victory.

I can still alter all settings so if you have any suggestions let me know...

Lets get pretenders uploaded!

Lunaje April 2nd, 2012 07:57 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [RECRUITING : 1 MORE]

What's the map's name? The link doesn't work for me.

- Not a problem anymore. Got it from the created game at llamaserver

Peacekeeper April 2nd, 2012 08:56 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [RECRUITING : 1 MORE]

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [FULL UPLOAD PRETENDERS]]

So, when we say "default" these days, does that mean independent strength of 5?

Peacekeeper April 2nd, 2012 11:14 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [FULL UPLOAD PRETENDERS]]

sorry, id like to reconsider and pick up EA arco instead.

Hi Matty and Comrade, nice to see some familiar faces.

Peacekeeper, good choice mate, Arco rocks...cough cough.

In my capable hands I am getting soundly trounced in a current MP game and two others I am in, Arco is running dead last.

Good luck bro, you might need it.

No worries man with the change... arco it is :)

Independent strength is 5 yes, as with everything im happy to change any settings as I havent done this before...

HoleyDooley April 2nd, 2012 11:49 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [FULL UPLOAD PRETENDERS]]

Ah I see Keith is back as well having another bash at Hinnom.

Better luck this time mate. I am steering clear of them, they certainly take an advanced knowledge of the game to do well with.

Great commanders, almost SC in their build, but they piss the population off no end!

Peacekeeper April 3rd, 2012 02:57 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [FULL UPLOAD PRETENDERS]]

after looking at the map im having doubts with it. While at first look it should be 20 provinces per person, it has 13 set starting positions on land, so really it will be less for most and a lot more for a lucky few.

Calahan April 3rd, 2012 03:37 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [FULL UPLOAD PRETENDERS]]

There is another version of this map that I did with fixed starts for 12+1 nations (so that's 12 Land starts and 1 Water start). So if you are going for 12 nations, then this second version will be much better than the 13+1 version which you are currently using.

But of course you will have problems if anyone picks a water nation, as if only 11 land nations start then some nations are going to have a lot of room to expand into where the missing nation would have been (and will get a big advantage compared to nations in other areas. As pointed out above by Peacekeeper)

The link for the 12+1 version is here
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showpost.php?p=775421

and on the llamaserver it's just below the map currently selected for this game (it's called "Riverlands for 12+1 (Andalusian Sun - The Restart")

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [FULL UPLOAD PRETENDERS]]

Ok change made to the 12+1 version of the map.... nobodies gone water so no issue there :).

Knai April 3rd, 2012 11:10 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [FULL UPLOAD PRETENDERS]]

Would it be possible to resubmit the pretender? I'm thinking that my design was inefficient and could use some fairly major improvement.

HoleyDooley April 3rd, 2012 11:24 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [FULL UPLOAD PRETENDERS]]

You can resubmit the pretender design any time until the game kicks off. it will over write the previous one and you will get an email confirmation as such.

Russian_Comrade April 3rd, 2012 04:13 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [FULL UPLOAD PRETENDERS]]

Are there some trouble with llamaserver? I sent my pretender (and my turn in thee other game) but didn't receive any answer.

Angry_Hominid April 3rd, 2012 04:54 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [FULL UPLOAD PRETENDERS]]

Yeah I think there is an issue with llamaserver..... Ive tried to upload on another game no dice...

We appear to be waiting on Procyon Lotor to submit Ulm, with everyone else having submitted.

Crud, you started without me. I had internet trouble last night, so couldn't get my pretender up.

Good luck, and I will destroy you all next time!

Lunaje April 4th, 2012 09:07 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [STARTED 12/12 Remain]]

Now that you say it, I notice there is a R'lyeh instead of Procyon's Ulm. But I don't see a R'yleh in the player list.
This is....weird. Did I miss something?

mattyburn7 April 4th, 2012 09:37 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [STARTED 12/12 Remain]]

And Map was chosen exclusively because there were no water nations? It looks like someone crashed the party? We may want to restart with R'lyeh and get the other player back in.

HoleyDooley April 4th, 2012 11:00 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [STARTED 12/12 Remain]]

Admin, please delete the pretender of R'lyeh.

Procyon, when you see the game accepting pretenders again, please submit yours and post here so we know it was you who submitted the pretender.

To whomever was the jerk who submitted R'lyeh, go away!

bobskizzle April 4th, 2012 11:32 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [STARTED 12/12 Remain]]

Also, turn off any victory points settings, as you can see other players' capitals from turn 1.

Peacekeeper April 4th, 2012 11:43 AM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [STARTED 12/12 Remain]]

its not a victory condition, the points are just random on the map for some reason or at least my capital didnt have one.

KeithZ April 4th, 2012 01:24 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [STARTED 12/12 Remain]]

So the game will be recreated and we have to resent our pretender , right? I saw most of the players had handed in the first turn...

mattyburn7 April 4th, 2012 01:30 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [STARTED 12/12 Remain]]

We'll have to redo our first turn. Not sure if we have to resubmit pretenders. I don't think we'll have to do that...Just delete the R'lyeh pretender and have the other chap send his in.

Calahan April 4th, 2012 01:58 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [STARTED 12/12 Remain]]

There is no need to re-create the game, as if you

1 - Go to admin options menu on the llamaserver page and select the "Un-Start game (go back to "Waiting for Pretenders")" option.

2 - The game will (or should) go back to the top of the llamaserver screen under the "Games waiting for Pretenders" section. All the Pretenders that were sent in for the game should be listed there (anyone wishing to change their Pretender can also do so at this point)

3 - Go into the "Game settings and admin options" menu, select the "Delete Pretender" option, tick the circle next to R'yleh to select that Pretender, enter the admin password in the box, and click on Delete Pretender button.

4 - The missing player uploads their Pretender.

5 - Go into "Game Settings and admin options" again and select "Start Game Now".

6 - The game should start a few minutes later.

Doing it this way means players don't have to re-upload their Pretenders again (which would be the case if a new game was created)

Although I can't remember if you need to do a further step, which is...

2b - Quickly go into the "Game Settings and Admin options" menu and select "Turn off automatic start".

It's been a long while since I restarted a game, but I seem to remember that the llamaserver can sometimes re-start an un-created game because the default setting is for games to start once all Pretedners are in. So when you un-start a game, all the Pretenders are there, and so the game will start automatically again if you don't do step 2a or 3 fairly quickly (but llamabeast might have fixed this at some point, so it might work properly now, but thought I'd mention it anyway just in case)

mattyburn7 April 4th, 2012 02:12 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [STARTED 12/12 Remain]]

And apologies to Procyon Lotor - Ulm. I keep forgetting you!!

Maybe a PM from admin is in order here, he may not be checking the thread anymore.

I'll send PM to check Thread.

Angry_Hominid April 4th, 2012 08:19 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [STARTED 12/12 Remain]]

Alrighty, game has been reset all pretenders except for Proycon Lotor remain and I have deleted the Ry'Leh pretender...

As for the victory points, they weren't enabled in the first place so I think its just a map "feature" that doesn't actually line up with actual capitals...

I have disabled automatic start so if the game doesn't start overnight dont panic, im southern hemisphere and will start tomorrow :).

bobskizzle April 4th, 2012 09:02 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [UPLOAD PRETENDER]]

Well it did coincide with my capital!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Angry_Hominid April 5th, 2012 07:39 PM

Re: NEWBIE GAME - EA - Stumble onwards to Victory! [UPLOAD PRETENDER]]

OK in the interests of getting this game moving, and having no response from Proycon im going to open this up again to recruit one more person.....

To the person who may be interested in playing - please choose a race other than a water race and upload your pretender so I can start the game - no requirement to wait my response!
