Assassination attempts

Are all assassination attempts anonymous? That is, is it possible to identify the nation prompting the attempt?

Re: Assassination attempts

Both players get a thing saying who attacked who, so no they are not anonymous. However, at least some(maybe all?) remote assassination spells(like earth attack, manifestation) will have the attacker as belonging to 'Special Monsters' rather than any nation so they are anonymous.

Re: Assassination attempts

Send hunter spider is also "anonimous". Special monsters black spider. Or a tupilak who also is anominous.

Re: Assassination attempts

Well those do belong to special monsters but they're both nation specifc spells so it's fairly obvious who's responsible.

Except if they can occur as a random events also?

Re: Assassination attempts

Those spells can't, there's only I think one assassination event and it tells you that it's an event in game, so they're quite distinct.

Re: Assassination attempts

Really? In that case the anonymity doesnt make much sense?

Admiral_Aorta May 18th, 2012 08:27 PM

Re: Assassination attempts

That's just how the game does it.

Re: Assassination attempts

So, Anaconda are you saying CBM should make those national assassination spells available to more nations? *nudge nudge wink wink*

Re: Assassination attempts

I was wondering why they are anonymous if there aint any kind of deniability, no matter how plausible...

Re: Assassination attempts

I believe making them potential random events would give more deniability than letting one or two other nations in the same age cast the spell.
You give Tupilak's to LA Mictlan and it doesn't help Atlantis deny culpability if Mictlan isn't also in the game.

For what it's worth I've had non-merc assasin Ninjas come after me when I was playing as Joman and I know I didn't send them myself.

Re: Assassination attempts

Why would LA mictlan have tupilaks? I don't think there are many dead polar bears in the jungle.

Re: Assassination attempts

MA Atlantis fractures. Part of the culture goes to LA Atlantis and a small segment of it goes to LA Mictlan.

Re: Assassination attempts

Rather than creating fairly ineffective assassins that can be traced back to the sender it would be better to be able to trigger those random game events...

Still, couldn't you do that by taking an anonymous spell like rain of blood, and chaining a remote summons like the jomonese (or other assassin)?

Which is irrelevant because MA atlantis doesn't have tupilaks either.
