Mod_Mayhem

Hi guys,

This is what we have so far.

Just post here when you have a pretender designed, when we are almost ready I'll choose a map and create the game on the server.

There is no hurry. I appreciate designing a pretender for a mod race isn't easy. Only other mod used will be CBM.

HD Tomb Kings
Torgon Skaven
Tigercub Itza
Nightfall Ogres
Jimbo Brettonia
Matty Dwarves
Excist TBA

Cheers,

HD

I'm ready to go. This is going to be fun. Do we have a game up on Llama server yet?

Brettonia it is! Knightly virtue and grail damsels for the win.

OMG, pity those virgins in your hands Jimbo!

Lock up your daughters, and your grandmothers, here comes Jimbo and the knights of the most profound unable!

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Guys,

I have created the game on the server. All links are there for the map and mod.

There is no time limit on submitting pretenders, as I appreciate you all playing in this mod game and getting your head around a mod isn't always easy.

Though yes Toron, I am also eager to kick off as well, but I know some of the other players have heavy life and other Dom 3 commitments right now.

Nightfall are you a sadist?

I had a quick and I mean QUICK look at the Ogres....man they have some funny artillery stuff, some big guys who lack a lot of intelligence and followers who are even dumber.

Hope your summons troops offer some flexibility...lol.

After saying this I can see the ogres trampling all over me by turn 20.

HoleyDooley May 29th, 2012 11:05 AM

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Matt,

Shangri-La are pretty good from what I have heard about them. I am in an advanced MP game against them now and though they are nowhere near me.

I agree that they don't look powerful past early game, but they do look fun.

They do get both a nature summon and two blood summons with diversity as national spells. Getting into both kinds as early as possible does appear to be key.

Did you notice the nice range of Blood 0 buffs?

HoleyDooley May 29th, 2012 07:53 PM

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Ah, no I didn't. I only had a very quick look at them.

Glad to hear they have some buffs available early.

Talking about fun, the Skaven are also a bit of a fun factor as well.

I just love the Tomb Kings but am tempted to try Skaven at some stage.

Surprised no one has taken the Dwarves......they look to be pretty good.

Matty said he was going to grab them at the top of this page, so its probably him.

Working on my pretender, in soon folks.

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Cool, I didn't see Matty change his mind.

Tigers is in now as well. So I just need an answer form Excist (I sent him a PM) if he still wants to play and we are good to go.

mattyburn7 May 30th, 2012 02:53 PM

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Yea. For some reason it told me Shangri-La was wrong age. Bummer. that seemed like a good party scene. The dwarves are a bit grumpier but they do make good beer.

Hekate is present and ready for dooty, Sah!

But not booty dooty. She's a classy lady, so keep those hands of yours off her HD!

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Jimbo, we don't like classy ladies.

Daggier and dirtier the better I say!

Excist hasn't been to the forums since I sent him a PM yesterday. So I'll give him another 24 hours to respond otherwise I'll hit the "GO" button.

Yep. Skaven is going to be interesting.

They would have absolutely owned in the ear of gem gens and hammers. They're practically built for cranking out blood stones like crazy.

As it is they have some cool tricks up their sleeve. Having a stealthy nation + large numbers of native stealth S3 casters opens ups some interesting (and potentially annoying) tactics.

Okay guys, I am kicking this one off.

There are a few more provinces per player than I would have liked....but hey, means you get to play with your mod until middle game at least.

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Okay, the new version of the mod has renamed the dm file.

So you will most likely have this Expanded_Nations_1_v1_02.dm.

Just rename it to NOT include the v1_02. So that it loos like this.

Expanded_Nations_1.dm

Cheers and have fun.

Check out the army size of the dwarves!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought thematically they are few in number but tough!!!!!!!!!

Matty, are you handing out to your nation free Viagra?

Don't pay Nightfall any attention. I'm handing out Viagra, Cialis and the other brand! (and money for mercs :))

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Man, these grail knights are actually quite tough. I was a bit skeptical about the idea of them solo-ing a province, but after some play testing they typically do a pretty good job of it.

In fact, in my playtest the only one that failed was when the grail knight in question was blinded - but even that just resulted in him running in circles until the 50 turn time out (being beaten by angry peasants all the while) and then retreating after the time out.

Of course, luck being what it is it is entirely possible that everything will go south at a rate of knots in the real game, but that is all part of the fun :-)

Yeah, and they beat the living tar out of one of my Dukes with a wooden serving spoon :-(

HoleyDooley June 5th, 2012 05:27 AM

I would ask all to check your battle replays against the actual casualties suffered in your battle report.

In the last 2 turns, my battle report has differed from the battle report (which is what actually happened as far as casualties is concerned).

I know this a bug and its happened to me once before in a very big battle.
It just seems odd to me to happen twice in consecutive turns.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the server is using version 1 and we are using 1.2 and thus this could be an issue.

Cheers,

HD

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Pretender resubmitted.

I had a really strange outcome, where my guys ran away after suffering .... no casualties. So yeah, happens occasionally but not this often.

I've resubmitted Hekate. Keen to get the beat downs restarted!

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Jimbo did you do a fresh pretender....once you had renamed the dm file?

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Dang. I'm sorry guys. I really screwed up. I had 2 service packs and enabled the wrong one when I created my pretender. My game is messed up (units are missing skills and I can't recruit any new units. Sorry folks!

Sorry I was slow to get back to you HoleyDooley.

You can't do this - or rather you can, but it will cause lots of bugs and incorrect battle reports. The files are deliberately named differently to avoid this kind of confusion between the server version and the client version.

I think you will need to restart the game. You need to upload the latest version of ENP1 to the server in order to use it in the game. Let me know if you have any problems doing this.

I'm sorry about this - should have replied to your PM straight away.

Yeah, I love the Bretonnian knights, they are super fun. The difficulty is in transitioning to the mid game once all the magic comes out. It can be done though, since your mages are actually quite good even if they are expensive and few in number.

HoleyDooley June 7th, 2012 09:11 AM

Re: Mod_Mayhem

Hi LLama, thanks mate for your help.

We basically already did as you suggested. I did some tests before the complete restart and it should be fine now.

Bretonnians be damned!!!!! You are being modest Llama, the Tomb Kings are the best Mod race EVER!!!!!!

Hi guys, just an FYI, the game has restarted, but Jimbo didn't get a turn file so I jut resent all the turns again to those whose turns are still outstanding.

Cheers, and cross fingers.

Pretty sure that matty is talking about the pretender AFTER the restart in this post; so you need to restart again...

Re: Mod_Mayhem

No worries Matt......everyone makes mistakes...guys after the restart,
everyone attack Matty...okay?

Seems fair to me...just jokes mate.

Okay I am restarting the game on the server, and I believe only Matt needs to resubmit his pretender.....

Damn, I had a SUPER starting position that time...lol.

HHHmmm we are on auto start once 6 pretenders are in.

One page of the game says there are 6 pretenders in and another says there are only 5...and it hasn't auto started.

I will wait a bit longer then I will manually start the game if it doesn't auto star.

This is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a single captured province can make a scout!! Plus my original scout is my prophet due to my national priest spells.

Thus I would like everyone else to role play and pretend I have broken their Enigma code and send me a screenshot of their empire and surrounding provinces to.....ICanSeeYou@Snapshot.com.

Cheers,
