Mod: CBM 1.92 (with Ettin fix?)

Diplomacy: Machiavellian
Score graphs: On
Renaming: Off (I hate to fight D9S4A4)
Site frequency: 60%
HOF: 15

Victory condition: hold 50% of capitals for 3 rounds - though with a twist. I'll explain it later.

Hosting Pace: First 15 turns every 24h, turns 15-30 48h, from there on 72h. Extensions given when needed but you need to give a reasonable explanation so the other players dont get annoyed.

Disallowed exploits: Bogus orders, lab-filling, scout blocking, recruit 0 gold ettins... just play nice.


Now about the twist...
I've always enjoyed games where I had a chance to reconquer the world after the winning nations set themselves to ai. I'd like to try this as an obligatory rule in this game:

If your nation fulfills the victory condition (post when your captital falls and to whom it falls!), just turn to ai. We'll keep you listed as the umpteenth winner and just continue against your mighty empire;)

I am tempted to play Atlantis, but the victory condition might mean a game that stretches long - over a year, on such a big map.

And some of the magic sites need to be changed.

What's the predicted skill level of the game? If you accept non-expert players, I'd be happy to join as Yomi.

Also, I'd think it'd be best to use CBM 1.92 with the Wild Ettin Fix, since why not?

Player level can be entirely mixed in this game, the special rule should make it possible to play and learn something even if you're outclassed - those experienced guys will leave the game at some point.

Can you explain these exploits? I wouldn't intentionally 'break' the game, but would like to understand what lab-filling does and the process involved in blocking a scout...

Bogus orders: if you Charm the visiting heroes, they come with pre-set orders of Fire/Attack commanders. The rule is about not copying those orders to other commanders.

Lab filling. After you done with all your research, you dump 30 Lanterns (or other garbage items) on your enemy. The lab gets full, and there is no space to put newly forged items, and those are lost.

Ettin: CBM 1.92 has a bug with Ettins (Giant thug chassis) can be recruited from some magic sites like Shambler City. There is a fix for that.

Scout blocking: using your scout (cheap disposable commander) to attack a large army in order to spoil their movement.

Thanks P3D. The first 3 are clearly 'ungamely'. The last one needs to be specific. Are we talking about not blocking movement with scouts, or not blocking movement with suicide SC's and small patrols. I understand we are trying to play nice. But it's best to be clear from the beginning about expectations. I haven't played this game in years....so trying to get a handle on everything. Thanks again!

It means that you will not be banned from the game if you break a treaty.

For a more detailed explanation:

Basically it means diplomacy works like in real world. Backstabbings exist, although they might not be common. If you have a non-aggresssion pact with someone, but make a surprise attack, it's likely the other nations will not make any deals with you, unless they are the ones that suggested the sneak attack in the first place.

It seems that most people are more strict with trading stuff, in that if someone doesn't deliver the goods but takes the payment, it will be a very serious offense(possibly even going from one game to another).

But technically, no matter what you do(diplomatically, game abuses are different), no one can truly blame you for it, since the style of diplomacy has been stated at start.

Guys, I'm afraid I'm going to have to drop out of this one. I'm already involved in 2 rather large games, and I'm starting to realize just how titanic the time commitment can be. I theoretically could play in a third game for a while, but unless I got knocked out early I would probably get to the point where I'd slow down the game. Sorry about that. If anybody else wants to play Arcoscephale, feel free.

Major problem:

I am getting message that there has been a cd-key violation, and my turn has not been executed.

Anyone has a clue why this is ?

* I own the game legit and paid for
* I have the recent 3.27 patch
* I downloaded the mods/map
* I have not given out my code to anyone

I have been away from the dom3 scene for some 2+ years, but I used to be able to play alot of multiplayer games before and never had this issue before.

Any idea how to fix? or I guess I have to go AI which would suck.

Hmm,

Try making a fresh install into a new folder, update and copy mods/maps. That is probably your best bet.

I think there is a key file in the directory. Open it and see if the key is entered correctly.

I have tried reinstalling the game but that did not work. Strangely enough in the other game I joined I have no issues at all, so I can only guess that there is a conflict with someone in this game.

I cannot set myself to AI, else I would do that. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

I'll have someone put Caelum to ai then - he's stalled 3 times in the first 6 turns so there is no point looking for a sub.
