Streaming dominions!? Madness!? Folly?! No, it's just pure AWESOME.

TheDemon is going to play a friendly practice duel Saturday at 6PM, streaming it through twitch. He's a long time vet and well respected for his solid planning and clean execution. He's also a surprisingly good caster and talks through his moves, reasoning and is willing to take questions from the stream's chat.

Thanks for doing this! While this is duel focused, a video like this seems like it would be a great introduction for new players (like a more visual version of Bruce Geryk's guide that I found useful as a Dom2 intro).

Btw, whether you think Daughters of Avalon are worth a cap recruitment slot depends on the value you place on their healing ability. I think it's a very important perk. It does force you to make a tough choice, forgoing a crone, but having to make those kinds of choices are what makes the game interesting. Of course the vast majority of your cap slots will go to crones so you'll only have enough daughters for one, or maybe two, healing centers but that sounds right to me (as opposed to healers wherever you want them). Having said that, a bit of a boost to their healing ability doesn't seem out of line. Since they're so cheap I like to recruit them early in the game (and it's a few less crones subject to that first late winter).

Lol @ "don't recruit barbarian chiefs, they're useless." It's always annoying when you need to build a fort and they're the only indie commander in the vicinity because everything else requires a temple/lab to recruit.

PS - What map is that? Looks very nice.

Watched, listened, while I did other things between turns. It was more interesting than I expected. The duel format didn't allow for some of the late game highlights, but it would be impossible to stream something that would. Also, that map is a very perdy map.

The starts are fixed in provinces 46 and 13, and have been adjusted to allow for coastal-start-required nations.

Another thing I wanted to mention was nice job commenting and playing at the same time. I'd either make all kinds of errors on my turns or just have silence as I concentrated on playing. :p

Btw, I had to leave during your duel with Torin. You probably don't have a saved turn but any idea why storm wasn't cast on your attempt at his cap? And, how did the match turn out? Or is it not finished yet?

Possible I messed up on the gem assignments, or expended them defeating assassinations. Another possibility is bringing a bunch of animals means that my hitpoints eclipses his by a large margin, which forbids gemuse.

In an early episode --- I think the tigers one --- TheDemon said something like "these units have large size" and "and that means they get that many attacks" ?? I did not think size affected how many attacks you get, or does it?? Thanks.

i think he was referring to the fact that tigers and certain bandar are size 3. That means only 2 instead of usually 3 units will get into a square which again means you will likely have your 2 tigers or bandar be paired against 3 human-sized guys. As such, the humans will get more attacks in on the bandar, since they outnumber the size 3 guys. In addition to more attacks on each size 3 guy, they also get the def-reduction applied.

I would agree with that. But I thought TheDemon said/implied it was good for us, the Tigers, as though we got more attacks... Anyway, it prolly got lost in translation ;)

In the special case of tigers, he migth have referred to the fact that tigers are bad *** and have a ****load of attacks on them. like bite and claw and whatnat.

Is there any chance of more of this kind of thing in the future?

I enjoyed the videos when they were up, and with the shutting-down of SA's LP forum to non-members, this is one of the few ways I can get any real insight into high quality play.

Made a mistake with the archived stuff, any streams in the future should archive properly (have to check the setting for every video). I will certainly stream more in the future, but as for when it depends on scheduling and availability not only my own but my opponents'.
