ATG Icons - massive update
3 Attachment(s)
Some months ago I did some icons for some anti-tank guns...
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=50696 Well, it was fun to do and I did go on from there and now every ATG should have it`s own icon. I even made a grey, desert, winter, green, brown and camouflage version of many of them. Overall it`s 45 different guns and some 185 icons. My suggestion is to use in generel green for Russia, brown for US and Uk and grey or camo for Germany, but of course winter and desert icons are included as well. Here are some examples (only a selection): <a href="http://de.tinypic.com?ref=2n7qy37" target="_blank"><img src="http://i57.tinypic.com/2n7qy37.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a> And this is the complete list: British: 37mm Bofors 2 pdr 6 pdr 17 pdr 17/25 pdr Germany: 28mm PzB 41 37mm Pak 36 37mm Pak 37(t) 47mm Pak 36(t) 50mm Pak 38 75mm Pak 40 75mm Pak 97/38 75mm Pak 36(r) 88mm Pak 43 88mm Pak 43/41 88mm Flak 36 88mm Puppchen France: 25mm SA 34 L72 25mm SA 37 L77 47mm APX L53 Netherlands (et al.): 20mm Madsen Russia: 37mm L45 (= Pak 36 horse drawn) 47mm L46 (53-K) 47mm L68 (M-42) 57mm L72 (Zis-2) 76.2mm L51 (F-22) M36 76.2mm L42 (USV) M39 76.2mm L42 (ZiS-3) M42 85mm AAG (K-52) 100mm L60 (BS-3) Italy: cannone 47/32 cannone da 75/46 C.A. mod.34 AAG cannone da 90/53 mod. 39 AAG Poland: 37mm wz.36 (=37mm Bofors) 37mm wz.16 75mm armata wz.36 L50 AAG Japan: 37mm Type 94 37mm Type 1 (longer barrel) 47mm Type 1 75mm Type 88 AAG USA: 37mm M1 57mm M1 (=6pdr) 76mm (3inch) M1A1 L55 90mm M2 AAG 90mm T8 L52 Belgium: 47mm C.A L33 Rumania: 47mm Schneider I`ve included in the zip file a key to all the numbers for Mobhack, so you can see which gun is which. It`s new shp files (icon0185.shp and icon0186.shp), so no need to overwrite. Just unzip and put the two shp files to your \Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPWW2\Game Data\Graphics, then it`s # 7900 to 8088. Important: It`s best to turn off ID tags in the preferences or use the excellent Mini ID flags by Cross, otherwise it`s difficult to see a lot of details. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=48017 Maybe someone can give me feedback on this, which is always nice when you do some icons. Cheers Marjak |
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Give me time to recover and really have a look at these and maybe we can add them to the game
|
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Don, please take all the time in the world to recover first. This is just icons for anti-tank guns, so really no need to rush.
But if you want to include the icons in some future patch, I would be happy. |
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Pretty freaking cool! I don't have time to install and try these out yet, but its on the to do list. Every little bit helps with a game this old, Mario :)

Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Nice work, they look really good.
Regards, Warwick |
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Thanks for the kind feedback.
I also plan to continue and make some icons for the AAA (2,5cm to 3,7cm) and maybe even some field guns and howitzer, but not of all of them, it`s just too many. But first I want to have a look at all the other icons I did the last five or so years which got rusty on my HD. It`s mostly resizing, rescaling and standardizing, then I can post them here. Cheers |
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
That's an impressive array of icons, though I must admit that when placed on actual game setting I probably would not be able to tell the differences between most of those.
That said, there seems to be some distinctive ones, like 2 and 25 pounders with their specific carriages. |
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Yes, I know, especially when ID tags are on, it`s difficult to see much detail in the game.
My advice is to select different colours for the nations, so Germany has grey or camo, Russia green and the British and US brown. |

Not only are most of the existing ones terrible but the same icon is used to represent various French, Italian, Japanese, you name it AA guns that look nothing alike in real life. And great work on the ATG ones BTW. |

For the German 2 and 3,7cm Flak it will be possible, but I`m not sure if I can model every French, Japanes, Italian AAA. |
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
I'm a dev of the Forgotten Hope 2 mod for Battlefield 2. We have accurate 3d models of the 2cm Flak 38, 2cm Flakvierling 38, 2cm Flak 38 on Sd.Ah.51 trailer, Italian 20/65 aa gun, M33 50cal, M51 50 cal and 40mm Bofors. If you need a topdown view of any of them I can get it.
|
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Thanks, that would be perfect.
Except of the Bofors which looks already very nice in the game, I could utilize every one of the list. I do have some pictures of the 2cm Flak 38 and the 3,7cm Flak from blueprints.com but if I can have a look at your 3D models, I would appreciate. |
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Ts4EVER, I remember playing the original Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942. I don't know if you were with the team then, but I'm glad to hear that you guys are still alive and kicking :) You turned a good game into a great game!

Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Ok.
Note that I am not a 3d modeller so I don't know how to properly render these. I just took a bunch of editor screenshots of relatively low quality, but it should show you the proportions. I wasn't around back then though, I only became a dev last year for this Omaha Beach map: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K7n7x08fwg Sometimes I wish BF2 mapping was as simple as WinSPWW2 mapping... |

That really really help, Ts4EVER, thanks a lot.
Here is a first glimpse of how the 2cm Flak could look like in the game. It`s only a first try, but looks not bad in my opinion. Do you have a picture of the 3,7cm Flak 36 as well? |
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Pretty slick, Mario. I am always looking for ways to tweak SPWW2 so I'm keeping a close eye on this thread :)

I'm afraid those are all the light flaks we have (we have a twin MG34 as well, but I don't think that is in SPWW2). We also have the 8.8cm Flak 36 with and without shield, but IIRC you already have an icon for that. |

And if you have models of howitzer or field guns, I could make icons for them as well. So far, I only have made the German 7,5cm leIG 18 and the 15cm sIG 33. |
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Ok, sadly I couldn't find the twin MG34 in the files. Also check your pms btw.

Re: ATG Icons - massive update
@DRG
Hello Don, maybe it is still possible to add the icons for the ATG guns that I`ve done. Or have you decided against it? Cheers Mario |
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
If time allows I will consider it but that's all I will promise at this time. Adding the Icons to the SHP files is the shallow end of the pool of work
|
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
That is beautiful work
|
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
Wish someone would do the WWII AA guns, only the bofors looks at all realistic.
|
Re: ATG Icons - massive update
I`ve done some AA, which I can post here later, but right now it`s only the 20mm AA (Germany and Italy).

But maybe the size has to be scaled still.
