DoGA
I was wondering what the FULL $$ verison has over the DoGa 3 free Version. I like the program, and intend to buy it, but I want to know what it is I will be buying.

Re: DoGA
mottlee,
"Bump" is a post to move a thread back to the top of a forum so people new to the forum or those that may have asked about a subject in a current thread become aware of it. This avoids repetion of post. |
Re: DoGA
Best as I can tell, the registered Version won't get you much more than you already have, unless you want to do animations. Also, the haven't finished the english Version yet. Zircher is a great person to talk to about DoGA (there is a link on the B5Mod Page).
I also recently downloaded some new parts that DoGA made for Robots & Humans, but haven't even tried them out yet, if they work I will zip and post for y'all. On top of that, I imported and made some new catalog pages with some new weapons and wings that are usable in DoGA 3 - I will post those for anyone interested as well. |
Re: DoGA
sure val any new models are always welcome
|
Re: DoGA
The new parts work well!
You can go to: Human Parts.lzh Robot Parts.lzh and download them. You will need LHA to decompress them (well, at least I did) Go out on the net and search for the LHA213.EXE program to decompress. One note - Once you decompress add the human files first, then the robot files, as that part.ini file has all the human bits and will nicely write over the other file. If y'all have trouble let me know and I will zip it up and post on Monday/Tuesday!! BTW - Zircher was the one who pointed me in the right direction to find these, so Thanks Zircher! |
Re: DoGA
thanks val
|
Re: DoGA
I downloaded the LZH files and LHA but I can't get them to extract.
|
Re: DoGA
Same prob here. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif Will stress over it later. Right now I am engaged in a massive struggle against the Romulan Empire and I can't waste time figuring this out. OMG! Those bastards JUST glassed one of my Colony worlds!!!! THIS MEANS WAR!! BRB
|
Re: DoGA
In an effort to make the world a better place, I'll post the combined Zips here tomorrow (why tomorrow you may ask? answer: 56k at home v. T1 at work). I had also started working on some new catalog pages if y'all want them as well.
|
Re: DoGA
Thanks! I like using DOGA since it is comparatively easy to use. Only gripe I have is limited number of parts and textures/materials.
But I made first race-style using my own models Last night. I have previously used pics from the net. I still have to re-size a couple of ships but essentially they are done. |
Re: DoGA
any new part is always welcome val or anybody else who has em
|
Re: DoGA
If you want to make more parts find metasequoia. It is an excellent program, you can pure polygon edit which is excellent. It takes a while to get used to but is tons of fun. You should be able to find it at the Doga Homepage.
One warning: It doesn't export colors and it doesn't export complex shapes very well. (I was working on a model of Talyn from farscape and it exported really crappy.) |
Re: DoGA
ZeroAdunn: Yeah, I got the metasequoia> and yes, it's gonna take some getting use to http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
|
Re: DoGA
Ok, here are the new DoGA bits and a few extras (I had started to make catalog parts for some hand weapons and guns that Zircher pointed me to - also added some wings I made to use on the Leonine)
DoGACats.zip Just unzip and add to the DoGA folder. |
Re: DoGA
Val: Thanks! Those parts are nicely done! IF I use them I'll be sure to give credit!
|
Re: DoGA
I downloaded the doga parts, very nice. Unfortunately many of them lock up Doga, has anyone else encountered this?
|
Re: DoGA
ZeroAdunn: yes, a number of them did lock-up on me Last night. Guess I could catalogue which ones tonight and tell Val.
|
Re: DoGA
Please let me know.
Also, what Version of DoGA are y'all using? I made most on 3. |
Re: DoGA
I am using DoGa2. The lock up occured with "missiles" and "battery 3"
|
Re: DoGA
I'll try it out on 2 tonight, see if I can dupe the lockup. Those are 2 that I added from stuff people had made.
|
Re: DoGA
I thought DoGA L3 wasn't available yet for an English release. Is it available now?
|
Re: DoGA
I have DoGa 2 and the lock-ups I remember (not on that PC atm) are head, hand-weapon 1, the trird missile in missiles, at least one of the wings in wing 3.

Re: DoGA
you can get the beta for L3 which is pretty much all of L3
|
Re: DoGA
I tried but the link for DoGa 3 is dead...
|
Re: DoGA
sorry can't help you there. But if Zircher were to pop in I'm sure he could provide the link as he did in the past.
|
Re: DoGA
Had the same trouble in 2, guess they only work for 3 for some reason...
Anyway, I think this is the link(s) to 3: dl3_108a.exe dl3_108b.dlx and I believe this is the latest patch: dl3_020213_beta.exe It's mostly in English - the menus at least http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: DoGA
Val: Thanks...DoGa 3 has some nice features. Now I need to learn it. I especially like the added textures etc...
I am having some troubles figuring out how to use those parts but I guess eventually figure it out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |
Re: DoGA
|
Re: DoGA
When I call up the parts no picture is displayed for them, so I have to load it into the assembler to what the heck the part is .... merely an annoyance....
|
Re: DoGA
Yeah, I had the same problem - not sure why it happened!
My solution was to load each predesigned part and resave it in another folder with a new name then delete that folder. Maybe if you delete the .bmp that matches the part you can save it in the same folder - though I didn't think of that at the time... |
Re: DoGA
All I had to do was copy the parts folder to the correct spot in DoGa 3 and the catalogue, then the pictures and the list showed up fine. I been having fun tonight! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
|
Re: DoGA
ohhhhhhoooooooo. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Well, no sleep for me tonight. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif Planet of the Apes ship set coming to a download near you.
|
Re: DoGA
One tiny ??? I was able to set different parts to different textures and/or colors on same object. What/where do I set to enable that in DoGa3?
Trying to make a semi-transparent "insect" wing on a space ship... Edit: Nevuh mind....just name that part attribute and voila...eg: insect_wing is semi-transparent/wrinkle..... [ 02 March 2002: Message edited by: pathfinder ]</p> |
Re: DoGA
Could someone please give me a walkthough of what i need to do to get this downloaded and use it? I am not too literate at getting these things to work....I don't even know exactly what i need to download....
Thanks |
Re: DoGA
Gad, been a LONG time since I muddled my way thru doing this...hmmmmm....lemme get back to ya. I'll have to see where I put those parts http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Cp: Do you have the basic program (Doga 3?) Doga 2 is found here (can't remember where I got Doga 3): http://www.doga.co.jp/english/software/index.html hehe, what oleg says above http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif [ September 02, 2002, 01:02: Message edited by: pathfinder ] |

Re: DoGA
ok...i was there...but which of those 6 or 7 files do i need to download, what exactly do i do after i download them?
Thanks |
Re: DoGA
ok...got them all downloaded....cannot extract the human and robot files...winzip cannot unzip for whatever reason...i find and try to download the LHA program, as far as i know, i download it ok, but i am not sure it will install right. I re-try to extract the files again, but again, it won't, because of the LHA program. I downloaded the lha2.13 file....as far as i know anyways....
|
Re: DoGA
Wish I could help CpBeller but me not much of a techie on the PC (or software) myself....
|
Re: DoGA
Cp: All of them. Decompress the doga l3 beta first then the others. in decending order (IIRC). decompress the others into the doga3 folder. hopefully that works.
as far as what to do after, start the program (make new part) then click on the part button and choose from whatever part(s) you want. you drag them together kinda like legs to make what ya want (or close to it). [ September 02, 2002, 12:57: Message edited by: pathfinder ] |
Re: DoGA
cpbeller, if you still have problems with Doga L3, try Doga L2 from the same company. It has fewer parts but otherwise is sufficient to make nice SEiV models.
|
Re: DoGA
I had success installing DOGA3 only AFTER I installed DOGA2. For some reason I had several errors installing DOGA3. Now though they are working just dandy!
Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Trajan |

It has the same parts, but what it does not have: More Textures *some animated textures* Lighting options Model effects Background options |
Re: DoGA
it is installing the program...but not the human and robot parts files....it says that the file extension is nto the right one or something, so i try to install the lha2.13 file, but it doesn't for some reason....but then again, most of it is in japanese
