Campaign Oddity
I had a tank platoon consisting of three units: L0, L1 and L2. Everything was fine for the first three battles, one or two tanks were killed each battle and the platoon command shifted to the surviving unit. Then on the fourth battle all three tanks were killed. At the start of the fifth battle the game had created a crew unit, L3, and made it the platoon commander. That's odd enough but when L3 was killed in another battle it created another crew, L4, and made it the platoon commander.
In comparing notes with my opponent, apparently it may happen with any crewed units. It happened to him with AT guns. In his case he ended up with three extra crews. |
Re: Campaign Oddity
Any save games that would show this ?

Re: Campaign Oddity
As I recall, if a crewed unit is killed or crew dismounted, the game creates a crew and progressively numbers it. Is it possible that when L0,L1,L2 were killed a crew survived as L3 and when you started the next game it did not create L3 then but used it as the survivor of the forth battle instead of going back to L0?

Here is the save for when L3 first showed up. I don't know if this is what you wanted in the way of save files. PW is camp2.

Re: Campaign Oddity
Is that the save before the upgrade/repair process at end of battle, i.e. just before you go on to do repair etc, or the save after the problem had occurred?. If the latter then its likely not useful for debugging as the fault is probably in the repair/upgrade code.
I'd need to be able to step through the repair process in order to find out what went titsup. A save that shows the error situation had occurred, is too late in the process. |
Re: Campaign Oddity
Well.....I looked at it, tried a couple of things that didn't work then expanded the core which allowed me to delete the old formation and buy a new T-26 plt and that " fixed " the orphan crew but that's not quite the solution you were looking for methinks..........it is odd .
To all......... Has anyone else had this happen to them in a PBEM campaign ?? |
Re: Campaign Oddity
It seems to happen ipossibly if you mess around with formations, changing unit as in say upgrading to a better unit before repairing it.
Also & I think the more probable cause if you cross attach units at that battle start then sell the others in a destroyed state you can end up with extra crew. I.e platoon of 4 tanks with 3 destroyed, cross attaching survivor to another platoon then deleting the rest can cause problems. Foggy on this only happened once, large game & I dad an awful lot of messing so wasnt really surprised it messed up |
Re: Campaign Oddity

The first save was after the problem occurred. This one is the repair phase between battles. Same PW.

Re: Campaign Oddity
Now looks to be fixed.
A nice little save game, so easy to debug as there weren't hordes of core troops <G!>. This "phantom crews" has been there since SP2 days, so nice to have (hopefully) squished that one at last. Code ported over to MBT so that's sorted as well now. |
