Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop

"...We do plan to involve the Steel Panthers community in the alpha test once the basic feature set and testing are complete and their feedback will help us greatly in determining the final shape of the game and additional development and the final release timeline..." They'd better if they don't want to sprout a half a$$ed eye candy cartoonish clickfest brain numbing "wargame". In the meantime, it will take a LOT to knock off WINSPWW2 & WINSPMBT from their top shelf spot in the turn based tactical wargaming genre. |
Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
Hmm that link doesn't worked for me... If I understand right, is Steel Tigers new "Steel Panthers"-styled wargame (or not)?

Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
We'll know when they get to the alpha test stage. Right now nobody but the 2by3 has seen it

Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
About a year ago I read that Gary Grigsby was going to make the best tactical wargame in history and the game will set the standard for all future releases, this could be it.

Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
We will see, but I heard it’s going to be 3D and not top down and I personally don’t have much interest in that approach.

On another note, this guy has been building this turn based hex tactical WW2 game "Second Front" on his own apparently with 2D and 3D views, looks promising despite the cartoonish look, i would support it just for the sake of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2UKI9zSH6g |
Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
If it is using the Slitherine engine do we think it will look like "Order of Battle:World War II"?

Btw,"the Steel Panthers community" who is that, exaclty? I assume they are talking about the other gang... |
Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
3D gets old fast, and then just sucks computer cycles. Soon you'll need 50 gigs of ram to play some of these games.

Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
I think the Steel Panthers "Community" is a general term. Probably includes everyone. I don't believe there's an "official" committee or anything, though you probably have to be responsible and not "f-up" their hard work or anything.

What's the latest word? Is it Vaporware? kaput? FUBAR?

Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
I cannot comment officially to that but last info I had was the game is....... lets say it's "seriously stalled"
Slitherine was working with 2by3 though the communique I got did not specifically mention 2by3 but Grigsbys name was. This was in 2023... things might have changed since then but I was told it was partially complete but due to various health issues it had been a struggle to pull it all together and finish it off and at that time, the conclusion was, that they're just not going to be able to finish it. As I said, maybe that has changed since March 2023 but going back to July 2022 this info was posted on the Matrix forum (Jul 11): Quote:

Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds like Steel Tigers is pretty much kuput. That Rolling Stones video was pretty cool too. I give it a big 5 out of 5 stars, and I never even heard of it before so I didn't have to wait for it to grow on me. It's already very good!

Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
Isn't' it strange how Keith and Mick are still around at 80 doing what they do? I mean especially Keith, he was a big time junkie (heroin and coke) not to mention the booze he drank and yet not only is he still alive and kicking he is still jamin like when he was 19-59 years old! And still rocking the joint.
Its amazing. I lost several friends to the drug scene and know a few burn outs, heck I almost did not survive last years heart attack at 57. And Keith keeps on ticking! |

Keith wrote "It's been 30 years since I gave up the dope!" in 2010 so he's been clean 44 years now....... APPARENTLY, it worked... Keith and Mick are certainly unique. They are the only 80-year-old rockers touring and putting out an album as good as they ever had in the past. Buddy Guy toured until he was 86 and there are lots of old BluesMen that kept going a long time but The Stones are still unique EDIT: Rod Stewart is another. Still actively touring at 79 I had no idea you had a heart attack last year but it does explain those long breaks between posts. Welcome to the Survivors Club :) |
