Scenario reviews
 
At the urging of DRG I am embarking on a review of all of the SPWW2 scenarios.

I will be rating them on:

1. Difficulty (Easy/Medium/Hard/Very hard)

2. Size (Based on the number of units)
(Small/medium/large/huge)

3. Time to play (Based on actual time to play, not turns)
(Short/medium/long/very long)

4. If playable from either side (y/n) and difficulty as player 2

5. Enjoyability (1 dreadful 5 very fun) added by Scorpio Rocks

6. Special conditions: No tanks, no artillery, Airborne operation, Amphibious operation, Human is to be player #2 (added 2/8)

I encourage other players to post in this thread and give their evaluations based on the above criteria.

My goal is to collect data that can be later put into a sortable database for player to find what kind of scenario they are looking for.

I think it would be nice for you to include a 1-5 rating for your "enjoyment" / "scenario quality" too - I realise this is subjective but is valid and useful.


Also a "replayability" rating - ie is the scenario a one-trick pony or finely crafted giving new nuances on several playthroughs.

These will be helpful to both new and experienced players and it's just the right amount of information to give players an idea of what it's like without turning it into a chore for you

Scenario #15 Corridor to Bastogne

Difficulty: Easy
Size: Large
Time: Long
Playable from either side: yes, Very Hard as player 2 (best you can hope for is a draw)
Enjoyability 3.5 (4 as player 2)

Note: This scenario really needs 10 more turns to allow the counter attack to play out. Currently the reinforcements can't reach a singe v-hex.

With 10 more turns I would say medium difficulty for player 1 and hard for player 2.

It will be a while before you get to it but..

scenario 0076 - 76 HG Regiment in Norway 4/40
and
scenario 0664 - Rolling Stones 4/40

are two scenarios of the exact same battle done 17 years apart ( 2001 - 2018 )

I think the second one might be bit more accurate, since the Neubaufahrzeug fought against the British in Norway, as far as I am aware.
