Counter Intel- using lower level projects
Once you discover Counter Intel levels 2 and 3, is there really any reason to use a lower level than the maximum?
|
Re: Counter Intel- using lower level projects
Maybe to be cheap? *w* Or if you know a weaker empire (like a neutral - not to diss them, I am having trouble with an AMAZINGLY tough neutral as it is, Im left with little option but to glass his homeworld, and its slow going) then I suppose you could use the weaker intel project if you know that the threat is not as great and you want to pump it out quicker? Do the prices change at all? I dont recall..
Also... what happened to espionage? I liked learning **** about enemies, not just blowing up their ships.... |
Re: Counter Intel- using lower level projects
There is no reason to use lower level projects.
The key to defense is having points STORED in defense projects. Completing a defense project DESTROYS everything you've put in so far. When a defense project is almost full, shift it down to the end of the queue, where it can sit and defend you. |
Re: Counter Intel- using lower level projects
*LOL* That's awesome, I never considered it...
Keep your people on 'standby' more or less, good call... So is there no espionage available now? (I cant help but think I am spelling that word wrong) Most of the intel operations seem like direct attacks, not very intel like ya know? The Mimic is cool, granted, but I was hoping for more spy-activity. Seeing what treaties they have, stealing some ship designs, whatever... |
Re: Counter Intel- using lower level projects
also IIRC higher level projects work a lot better then lvl 1 or 2. i always forget to shift to the endof the queue so i get messed up hella bad when im not paying attention
that was some intel leak there for anyone playing me but i might just be lying mind game mind games http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif |
Re: Counter Intel- using lower level projects
Half of the Intel items are espionage. Most of the ones the AIs choose randomly seem to be espionage, and thus useless to the AI, and harmless to me.
From the Gold intelops file, with non-espionage ones stripped out: ================================================== ===================================== INTELLIGENCE PROJECTS DATA FILE ================================================== ===================================== Type: Ship - Locations, Ship - Concentrations, Ship - Construction Info, Ship Designs - Steal, Planet - Info, Planet - Locations, Points - Change, Points - Steal, Research - Steal, Research - Delete Project, Intel - Delete Project, Politics - Intercept Messages Politics - Treaty Info, System - Info, Empire - Info, Unit Designs - Steal, Tech Level - Info |

Awesome... thanks PvK

Re: Counter Intel- using lower level projects
Another quick confirmation please:
Is it also true that each CI project you have running can only defend against 1 espionage mission against you per turn? Meaning, if you have 5 CI level 3 projects almost maxxed out, and two empires launch a combined total of 6 projects against you, will at least 1 attack get through? (I read something along these lines in an earlier discussion, but it didn't seem to be a conclusive conclusion :^P ) |

That was a bug, since fixed. Phoenix-D |
Re: Counter Intel- using lower level projects
Hi,
i do like the Ship Infestation (think its called so) and the politic puppets most http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Getting ships AND planets from your enemy is really nice http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I only played against AI yet, the first game i played i didnt made any inteligence-projects until i got several Messages each turn, telling me that my pop is going rampage, producing nothing and creating new empires...well from that on i really had some planets only building intelligence-centers... |

So if you're lazy like me, try divide points equally and put a number of different defense projects in the queue. When the lower level ones finish, replace them with higher level projects. This hopefully spreads their completion out so if one finishes, there are others with a lot of points remaining. |

Phoenix-D<hr></blockquote> So what happens exactly? Which projects take the hits and in what order? Does the first project just keep defending until its depleted, and then the next CI project kicks in? Or is their rotation between which project covers each attack? Just curious.. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif |
Re: Counter Intel- using lower level projects
I believe it's whichever project received points first. I started a CI-1 project, then put it on the back burner when I got CI-2, and the CI-1 was the project that took the hits until it finally died. If you start several at the same time, I would assume that the first one in the queue would go first.

Re: Counter Intel- using lower level projects
Thanx. I will keep my eye open to see if I can catch it working.
