Cats and SEIV
Do any of you have this problem? Does your cat insist upon being loved and petted at aproximately the time you sit down to play SEIV? Does your cat bug you constantly with taunting mewoows and odd other little shounds in such a manor as to consistantly distract you? Do they nudge you, claw at you, or blatantly walk across your key board causing all sorts of havoc?
Mine does, and she can be quite the bothersome pet when she wants to be. Hell not even my GF can annoy me as quickly as my cat. Gold bless her, she is such a lush. |
Re: Cats and SEIV
Hah, you have discovered one of the many cunning subterfuges being carried out by The Fabulous Furry Felines of the Growltigga Alliance - by employing highly trained undercover feline agents to distract you whilst playing the game so that Growltigga the Great can beat you all into submission!!
Be afraid, the Growltigga alliance can programme your cat to do anything!! Seriously, yes, my 2 are right little sods and only the fact that I have purchased a gas gun to clean the computer has stopped them sleeping on the keyboard...... peeling them off the ceiling after using a gas gun however is causing some superficial damage to the fabric of my house!! I don't have a cat, but my 2 year old daughter exhibits this slightly annoying tendancy. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Cats and SEIV
Like geo, no cats but my sweet heart has exibitted such tendancies. GrowlTigga, did you program her also?

Re: Cats and SEIV
Mine (the cat that is) has switched from trying to help me enter commands at oh so inappropriate times to sitting on the monitor and occassionally swatting at a ship the displeases his sensibility.

Re: Cats and SEIV
We have 3 cats, 2 females, 1 male, the male could care less, he just sleeps in my computer chair and gets annoyed when I move him to play, like its his chair, the 2 females are and act just like Atrocities stated, especially the younger on, she loves to walk on everything including the key Boards, cks out the printer, etc, the other one, she just scratches my pants and then rolls over on her back expecting me to give her a belly rub, and all this right in the middle of Twixle the 4ths imperial fleet fighting in tactical the devious designs of the Rage. And if I ignore them, out comes those crys of abandonment until you cann't stand it any longer.....
I really think the Furry Felines are in cahoots with GT just to spy on our playing abilities... Be careful Atrocities, they could have monitors hooked to their collars http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif be careful, be very very careful look to the sky its "THEM" just some ideas mac just some ideas mac |

Val,
Remember: A cat is never yours. |
Re: Cats and SEIV
I must say, my GF is more insistent than my two cats.
Although my younger cat used to lay across the top of my monitor, he can't do that anymore since I put my computer in a nice little hutch. I kinda miss that - although I don't think it was really good for the monitor. That cat weighs 18 lbs., and the vet said he might actually need to gain weight! Seriously, he had to scrunch a little to fit on top of my 21" monitor, so that gives you some idea. Now, the older cat I actually inherited from a friend of a friend; she's a 14-year-old cat, loves to sit on people's laps, meows piteously every half hour & won't stop until you either call her name repeatedly or go find her, but at least she doesn't jump up on the computer desk. It's too high for her to reach - she can't jump up very far. She's only half the size of the younger cat, but demands four times the attention. |

Has anyone written a computer game for cats? You could have birds flying across a touch sensitive screen, and every time the cat hits one, there is a big squawk and feathers fly all over the place. Well, on the screen, anyway. I'll bet you could sell a few. |
Re: Cats and SEIV
Yep, this thread is obviously striking a true cord with some of us.
I should now introduce you to the 'real' Growltigga - my tortoiseshell and white monster - this cat weighs in at a 'vet verified' 12 kilos (about 30 pounds to you yanks), she is about 31/2 feet long, muscly as hell and is currently rolled up in a ball at my feet, purring like a messerschmidt and disembowelling her favourite mouse - her brother Ella is much bigger |
Re: Cats and SEIV
Are you sure that's a cat and not a north american mountain lion

Re: Cats and SEIV
I live in a dorm. No cat jumping on my keyboard... I miss my cat.
On a side note we (the city of El Paso where I am currently not located) had a mountain line prowling some of the neighborhoods that were built a bit too close to the mountains. From my understanding several people are missing pet dogs and one person was very lucky that he had a VERY large pet dog (forget the breed) or alternatly that it wasn't hungry (the cat that is) as he was walking it and they ran into the cat. Hrmm... that was almost a year ago. I wonder if anything has happened with that since then. Some of the people wanted to hire someone to kill it. |
Re: Cats and SEIV
heres a solution
Eat Cats! Cats suck! Eat them! the only good thing about them is their thighs! they taste just like chicken! promise! |
Re: Cats and SEIV
Had found a cat that had been living in my neighbor's front bushes for quite some time- she had a little cleared out area where she was hanging out at.
I used to feed her periodically, but finally just adopted her in until I could find someone to take her. She was the friendliest orange tabby-cat I have ever met! She would always like to hang around me while I played on my computer, and adored being pet. But she wasn't in very good shape, and was very thin and was always drooling. Finally, I got in contact with a stray animal adoption/clinic place, and the owner told me that she had hypo-thyroidism, which accounted for her being thin. The owner decided to take her home so she could have proper care, and because the owner just loved that cat too. When I asked them about why she would always drool, they said that the cat would get so excited about being pet she would drool! :^) They also said that orange, striped females are rare in cats. |
Re: Cats and SEIV
No offense to anybody here but besides the fact that they make cute sounds, cuddly, and just has a face that you can't frown upon, cats are the pets from down under under.
They really don't obey you, They really can't be trained, They make bad... stuff around, and... they... scratch... horribly... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif Dogs are the way for me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: Cats and SEIV
Speaking of cats...
My cat Spoogy might have just saved me from a dangerous situation. I was washing dishes and listening to music pretty loud when I saw my cat dash out onto my balcony, which he does when something interesting is happening. I don't usually make anything of it, but I took a quick look out from the kitchen and there was a person just below (my balcony is about 2 metres off the ground). I just thought it was someone walking their dog as usual...but two minutes later, the single lady next door comes banging on my door...someone was just on her balcony! Lucky for me, if it wasn't for my cat, the guy would probably have came onto my balcony and since my door was nice and wide open...who knows... |
Re: Cats and SEIV
Cats do the darndest Things
My 1 cat Boots, does somethng similiar, if my wife is in laundry room and someone comes to the door, he will run in and get her, taps her with a paw and then heads for front door. he also plays marbles, tag, hide & Seek and chase. you chase him, tag him then run away, he will chase you, jump up, tag you with paw, then take off running so you have to chase and tag him again...or tag him and hide he will look for you, touch yu with paw then run and hide himself... This is the honest truth, strangest cat I've ever seen, be careful, be very very careful look to the sky its "THEM" just some ideas mac |
Re: Cats and SEIV
Yeah, Spoogy likes to play fetch with these toy mice he has. It's kind of funny because we keep them in a low cabinet and he'll go open it and bring one out to me to throw for him. Of course, he always seems to do this just when I trying to take over the universe.

<blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by MHSJROTCCADET:

The meat on cats' hind legs (the only meaty part of them) tastes like liver, with a particularily rank aftertaste that you will get from the meat of any carnivore. You may find reference to cat meat in the south eastern US where I have heard it called 'roof rabbit' Now dog meat tastes a whole lot better, in fact just like oily chicken. I suspect this is due to the omnivorous nature of dogs. I wouldn't reccomend the tongue but that is mainly my Western dislike of eating anything that has slurped on a dog's genitalia Re the reference to the "original" Growltigga looking like a mountain lion, she is not quite that big but I did have to contribute toward vetinary fees of £600 Last year after next doors' Alsation went for her and ran into that ol' famous GT razorblade whirlwind - result Alsation 0, GT about 634 [ 22 April 2002: Message edited by: Growltigga ]</p> |
