Where are the models coming from for the ship sets?
Many look as if they've been derived from 3D models and/or parts. Is there someplace where such models/components can be seen and/or downloaded?
If modeled especially - what app was used. Thanx. |
Re: Where are the models coming from for the ship sets?
Personaly i prefer Moray ( http://www.stmuc.com/moray ), some people here use Doga i hear. Some use more complicated tools as 3dMax but thats rare.

Most of the sets that look like they contain 3-D models are from DOGA, which (as I understand from postings here, not from personal experience) incldues many 3-D "modules" you can put together to create spaceships/battlemechs/etc.
Doing a search on this forum for DOGA should reveal links to the website(s) where you can download the app & the graphics libraries. |

The link to Doga is -->here. It is what I used to create both the Ekhazan and the Tesli'k (links in my sig) and many others use it as well.

The three I made were made with DOGA L3.

Man don't any of you read the STICKY threads?
"Must visit SEIV sites" thread has links to all the dowloads for DOGA. |

Re: Where are the models coming from for the ship sets?
I found another cool free graphics program, it's called "Art of Illusion" (visit www.artofillusion.org) and it has some interesting features that Moray lacks (never used Doga) - though it's harder to adjust the view in AOI than in Moray... also it's only a 1 MB download (seriously!) though the manual is 8 MB and doesn't quite explain everything (like procedural textures), also it's written in Java so while you can run it under any OS you need a fast machine with lots of RAM and you need to get the Java VM... also you can't associate its output files with it because it doesn't have an EXE... still, it's worth a download...

Re: Where are the models coming from for the ship sets?
I've been in the process of obtaining some higher-end graphics tool like Lightwave, 3d Max 4, Poser, etc.
Fortunate for me, a graphics art place down here shut down recently and I've been able to get software from the local thrift store they dumped thier stuff in. But still, Moray is a great tool. btw, Nice boat. |
