Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
In single player I can select a ship/fleet, press attack and it will kill the designated target!
But in simultaneus PBEM the ship/fleet totally ignores my order and just sits put, pacifistic bastards. Why don't they obey my command? |
Re: Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
You are ending the turn right? Remember that in simultanious all your orders are excuted *by the host* at the end of the turn. You don't see any immediate movement or attacking.

Nope, they still sits on their lazy butts when the gamefile arrives. No movement has taken place whatever, their movement is non-existant, they are glued to their position, they are quite frankly annoying!
It doesn't matter if I want em to attack a ship or aplanet. Can it be some configuration check-box in my client? |

We don't use zipped files, and yes, other move commands, build etc worx as usual, strange things are a happening in deep space!

Re: Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
I have had this happen to me occasionally. Not all the time though. You can't ever get them to attack? Or is this just intermitant.

Re: Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
I've often made the mistake of giving an order to a ship on Sentry duty without clearing the Sentry order first. That's probably not what's happening here, though, assuming you're attacking an enemy in the same system, because the enemy's presence will clear the Sentry order.
There have been reports of things like this before on PBW, but the cause has never been found. One thing that sometimes clears the problem is shuffling the affected ships in and out of a fleet. |
Re: Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
It's an in-system fight, and persistant. I'll try the fleet shuffling.
Thanx for the input. |
Re: Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
Same thing happened to be Last turn in a PBW game.
I took over a ship via intelligence that was parked on an enemy planet, I ordered it to attack the planet it was sitting on and next turn - Nothing. It still had the orders to attack however. This turn, I've ordered it to 'Move' away from the planet & then move back. I'll see what happens next turn. Another strange thing was by intelligence I took over a SS and the following turn it was attacked by a ship with Phased & Null weapons. At the end of the fight, the SS had been 'Taken' and is now back to their control. Any noticed a bug like this with Ships taken over by intelligence? |
Re: Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
Something like this might have to do with the fact that, like in making new designs and immeadiatly retrofitting to them, the game indexes the ships wrong and for some reason it caused a glitch, but im just guessing, nothign hard.

Think of france in WW2 and how they defeated the Germans....

Re: Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
Isn't Charles De Gaulle the new french nuclear carrier, I think it broke it's propeller on the test voyage.

Re: Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
Hum,
Last time I had this problem, I started yelling and insulting the game until I discovered that my just retrofitted warships were some "Charles De Gaulle carrier types". IE I forgot to put engines on the design. Just an idea... |
Re: Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
Nope, they all got engines.
Shifting them on and out of fleets solved it. |
Re: Why don\'t the lazy bastards attack?
Unknown,
"Charles De Gaulle carrier types", I have never heard this expression, I'm sure there is an interesting story behind it. |
