OT: Backwards Threads?

I don't know if it's meant to be this way, but whenever I browse a thread, the first post appears on the Last page, on the bottom, rather than the normal top of the first page which exists on every other forum I've been too.
Is there any way to turn this off, as it makes threads much harder to read. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif

Richard could turn it off, but I don't think he will.

This setup has some great advantages, too.
The newest Posts, and thus the ones you haven't read yet are all on the first page.
If you visit regularily, the new Posts are usually on the first screen, without even having to scroll down!

Personally, I have grown to prefer this system over the others.

You can click on the "Printer-friendly view of this topic " button on the bottom left. It will display the topic in cronological order and black print on white background.
Don't do this with long threads if you are on a modem.
Enjoy

At least it's consistant. Try Usenet if you want a real mess. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Re: OT: Backwards Threads?

I think those backwards threads are really unwieldy (sp?), too. Makes it a real PITA to read older threads. Some forums have a button that takes you the Last post/Last page. IMO that is a much nicer way.

Webvelosix is the king of webforums.

Which is used, here: http://forum.extra-life.co.uk./index.php?action=8 for example.

Mmm...forum.

If you visit every 2 days or so, or just keep tabs on a few interesting threads this way is ez, however its hard to get into anything unless you start at page 4 (or 44 in some cases). What was that black and white thing with modems?

I got DSL but whatever.

Re: OT: Backwards Threads?

I know, I'm a newb here, and shouldn't complain. But I don't think I've seen something so completely non-intuitive. To go to the bottom, scroll to the top of that post, read down and then move up to the next thread is just....unnatural. I realize that the newest post is at the top, but clicking the 'Last page' button is a lot easier than learning to read in a different manner. And, the 'print friendly' wipes out the sigs and everything else.

I implore any and all gods of this forum to make it an option.

Sorry for making such a negative first appearance.

I don't like the reverse order much, either, although yeah you get used to it. Even if you only want to read the newer Posts, you still have to scroll to the bottom of the screen and read up.

The threads aren't backwards. They're completely normal. Every other forum has backwards threads http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

At first I thought the backwards order was strange and awkward, but now I am used to it and I prefer it this way. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
