OT- The Two Towers

Drakkar writes "As most of you know, the new trailer for the Two Towers was Online Last night for AOL Users, but the link was given on the official site, LordofTheRings.net http://www.lordoftherings.net/ . It's in real player format. A new trailer with higher quality will be up tonight, midnight ET. This new piece of film is awesome. I saw that first movie of hobbits, elves, etc.. only Last week. They should not be allowed to call it what they do. I will only call them, LOTR TM, FOTR TM, TTT TM
TM - The Movie
/Rant
I read The Lord of the Rings when I was 13. I have read it at least 4 times since. I was willing to accept the movie as pretty good up utill Arawin shows up.
It is now a good movie.
I will wait till I can see TTT TM on DVD
/Rant
Still I understand why you all enjoyed it.

I've had the TTT trailer for months on divX. If I'd known you guys were waiting for it I'd have mailed it to you.

Especially as I can't get any of my PCs to recognise the type of DivX used. Haven't seen it myself yet...

Re: OT- The Two Towers

I see as LOTR with a typical hollywood movie interpretation, that has rewritten a story. For once I think hollywood has done better than usual in the retelling. I am currently rereading the series - about the 10th time in my life. I had forgotten alot of little things, such as the worgs attacking the fellowship just before arriving at moria, and when the party first arrives in the forests of lorien, gollum tries to sneak up on the hobbits in the tree during the night time battle between the elves and the orcs from moria... its been a trip down memory lane..

Although now that I am reading it again , I can see why Peter Jackson changed some of the story. To help keep the general audience who have no familarity with the story from passing out from boredom in the more mundane scenes, and to put tension into to the story where there was none in the book- such as the council of Elrond.

Although there are some differences, the theme holds true and I think its well done. I cant wait for the expanded Version of the 1st movie to come out this november...

Imagine if they followed the books to the letter? We'd have three 6-hr movies with about 3-hr of songs. Would that be enough to qualify it as a musical for award purposes?

this has probably been beaten to death in the other thread. (from when the frist movie came out). I have no argument with what you proffer.
I'm sure you understand my position as well as I understand yours.
Leaving stuff out is understandable and to me fully acceptable. Changing from Gandalf to Arwin? come on.. I enjoyed the movie. I'm glad I did not pay to see it at a theater.
As for 6 hour movies, The Rusians did it for war and Peace.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">They're expanding the first one? Like how much are they doing this by? 20 minutes? Or like another whole hour, or heck, even more? If that's the case. Sweet!

I would like to see Tom Bombadil and Goldberry in the extra scenes, but I don't think they'll add that. Too bad.

Re: OT- The Two Towers

I really missed Tom Bombadil and wife. While sooooo many folks look on the whole episode as not fitting or not being necessar, I thought it was a bright spot in the dark story of LOTR. Unfortunately, they had to make cuts/changes, and I appreciate what they did to make the movie as good as it was. I look forward to the next 2 installments, faulty though they may be. Good entertainment is sooooo hard to find, and at least the 3hour movie is worth the $9-$10 US per ticket.

Cheers!

the added sections deal with galadrial and the gifts she gave the fellowship and a few other extra scenes that havent been discussed as far as I am aware.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Oh, I was hoping for some car chases, tense shootouts in dockside warehouses and exploding helicopters. A Hollywood film just isn't a Hollywood film without car chases, tense shootouts in dockside warehouses and exploding helicopters.

And I still can't figure out which one of those hobbits was the tough, living-on-the-edge loner cop with a personal vendetta and a problem with authority. I thought it might be Merry, but I'm not sure. Can anyone help?

I bet that we will see Kheled-zāram, the sea in which Durins Crown rests. You can see that they are walking toward a sea after Moria and look into it but it is cut before they can speak a word.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Willis yea, if you want Aragon in a wife beater with a 9mm.

And Hopkins yea, but that creepy gnome is better suited for a dwarf...just add hair.

Vin Diesel yea, if you don't mind translating Tolkien's eloquent English into Brooklynese.

I put my vote in for Johnny Depp...a little skrawny, yes, but he has the hair, the beard and and an appreciation for tobacco (or so I conclude), which is certainly a finery that him and Tolkien share.
