I finally finished a game

Well after two years, I have finally finished a game. 248.1 turns, and the victory is mine.

No mods, just plaing 1.78 with Trek races.

I still haven't finished a (non-PBW) game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: I finally finished a game

Waaaaaaay back during the twingalaxies tourney I suscessfully conquered all the AI in a few games, and then spent another 100 turns building ringwolrds to try and drive up my score. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I finished one the other day testing for the Neutral2 game idea, but it was a loss message instead of a victory message. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I finished one game all the way out several patches ago just to see what happens. It was disappointing, just pretty picture, nothing extrodinaire, So if all you want is to see the ending, believe me its the one part of SE4 that was a disappointment. The ending is BLAH

just some ideas Mac

Re: I finally finished a game

I sometimes see the "nice end procedure" immediately after game start: one human player setup.
Sometimes I use this setup to try things out (everything researched), you have the choice to continue alone in the quadrant.

I have never finished a regular game, not even built a ring- or sphere world.

Re: I finally finished a game

I've finished 1 game so far in my SEIV career. I wasn't impressed with the final screen. I think MM should make SEV where there is a few different movie scenes that could happen. Like if you win show a big fleet warping into a system then blowing the hello out of your enemie. I think that would be sweet if they did that...

Atrocities;

Congratulations!!

I still have one AI, the Krill, in the only game I've played this far. Started loads of games. Stopped and Re-started for different reasons! Never have gotten this close. So, I can imagine how you are feeling!! Oh yeah, mine is no mods as well SE4 Gold 1.78. Don't know if I am going to be able to finish my FIRST ring or sphere world, though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif Year 2412.7

Ragnarok, that does sound sweet. Several movies, one selected a random, for each victory! So you would to win a number of times before you saw them all!

Re: I finally finished a game

Heh, my current game is at 2469.2 with 3 sphereworlds built and three more on the way (I love trinary systems...). I still haven't beaten the AI races, they just can't get into my section of the galaxy because I'm using System Gravitational Shield facilities in every system but one, and that one is only linked to the rest of my systems by one warp point, and that warp point has several heavily armed starbases waiting on the other side, each one armed with 9 massive mount null space guns...

Well, you get the idea.

Maybe they should do the end like Tropico's ending; with funny comments about your acheivements and people you've made angry http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I haven't finished a game either, but movies are VERY VERY expensive to make. But it is possible.

Anybody ever see the end screen on Panzer General? That sucked.

I have never finished a game of SEIV. I would be interested to know what happens (send me a PM if you feel that the rest of the forum should not know). I finished a MOO2 game a couple of times and always thought the end video sequence was hilarious... as was the video sequence you got if your race was wiped out.. does SEIVG do the same?

Re: I finally finished a game

I finished my games off. Well that is what I call the delete command.
GT, looking through the bitmaps I think all you get is a pretty picture.
The way to find out:
Create a map with two starting points in the same system.
Start a game using that map.
demaand the AI's surrender,
Play the AI's turn and accept the surrender

Try to finish a game without victory conditions, is not easy!
I have finished lot of games against the AI, but always playing small galaxies... think is the only way to me.
Anyway, usually is enough to me know that the AI can't stop me... In the other side, I NEVER, NEVER wanted to see my Last fleet/planet destroyed, before declare that I'm lost and restart a new game!

Re: I finally finished a game

Yeah, all you get is a pretty picture. I've finished several vsAI games, each time due to having the wrong victory conditions set.

I've never conquered an entire quadrant before.

Yeah the ending of Panzer General, really sucked. It isn't the worst. But it is in the top 10.

If not movies!?! How about a single(or multiple) frame(s). With a rating of how you did. Or something like that!

I really liked the Alpha Centari ones, MM shoudl really include something like that for SEV or next patch however it isn't as important as somethings that we want.

I seem to remember that when you win, you have the choice to continue playing if you wish. What happens if you continue playing?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I seem to recall I did this just to figure out how to build a ringworld. You basically just keep on playing, forever if you want.
