Something mildly interesting about remote mining
I have suspected this for a while, but just confirmed it through a test. Income generated from remote mining is not shared with your trade partners. So if you were a race that got a lot of it's income from remote mining your allies would be potentially getting less benefit from the treaty than you, even though if you both had equal economies. Could be something someone would want to do on purpose I suppose. Just thought I'd point it out. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Something mildly interesting about remote mining
Do racial bonuses apply to remote mining?

Re: Something mildly interesting about remote mining
so then a really low scoring race should pursue remote mining and they won't suffer their racial penalties! (?)

Re: Something mildly interesting about remote mining
Maybe... I have never tested it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Something mildly interesting about remote mining
interesting... take resource penalties, and gather all of your min/org/rads from asteroids. use you planets for research and intel..

Re: Something mildly interesting about remote mining
Yep, and form lots of trade alliances, while you slowly leech the resources out of the quadrant...

Re: Something mildly interesting about remote mining
Assuming I am right, anyways. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Maybe someone should test that. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Something mildly interesting about remote mining
Confirmed, racial characteristics have no effect on remote mining.

Up until now, it was kinda advanced learning, apparently. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Would be good to add it to Encyclopaedia Malfidorica. Perhaps I should learn how to add stuff to that some time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

That wasn't so much an effort to keep you from enjoying the benefit of trade income as it was a way to find room to build enough research facilities. That Only own type/only own atmosphere was tough. That entire game I never found a free planet to colonize. Only ones I ever got other than my homeworlds were ones I took from the Knights and made from asteroids. Geoschmo |
