Your favourite shipset?
 

Not sure if this has been done before but whats your favourite shipset, mines either the phong or the cytherians. Just curious and wanted to start a post

I like the B5 EA shipset, and the Vandron shipset.

Phong is cool. I currently like the shipset whose name I can't remember http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif It is a green shipset and the race picture is a girl with shaded goggles. I think its part of a group. My apologies to whomever made that. United Flora is a nice organic ship set.

I have been using the Toron set for several months now. It is very smooth tecture, nice curves, good continuety. (hm, sounds like a gilfriend I had onec)). I have to admit I'll be moving over to that Tessellate set this guy is developing.

As nice as some of the fan made shipsets are out there, I don't think any of them are as nice as the stock Norak set.

Of the fan made ones I like John Beeches Neo Canadians best. The newer tri-color ones. Very crisp looking.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hear Hear. Years ago, someone made a similarly detailed one -- it was sort of a glowing metallic purple with chrome add-ons, similar shape to Norak battle cruiser. I wonder what happened to that -- I had it as my wall paper for a while.

The United FLora, without a doubt. Original, entertaining and beautifully designed and rendered. It has a good speech file as well, which I think is an important part of the set = closer to the gfx than the AI files in a way.

My current favorite is the Tylmai set. The Vidhrinne come in second place.

I try to use a varying selection of shipsets, though -- so as to avoid getting "tired" of any one of them.

I like the new Neo-Canadian ship set as well. I also like the Arm ship set. I also agree with Geo, the Norak ship set is cool.

Yes the norak fleet is a close second to the phong in my opinion of the best stock shipset

My all time favourite shipset would be based on the battlecruiser of the new united terran confederation shipset by Dave Vaughn

prefered chipset : the orks..Not the nicest, but the most fun to roleplay. Oh, that's just my 2 cents...

But the most beautiful shipset is the united flora. Originality, colors, curves, you got all there.

I agree with the United Floral being among the very best. I don't use them because I like to play against them. And you are right about the speech file.

I'll join the Norak bandwagon, I prefer them over the other stock races (although the Xiati are nice, as well). Of the others, I like the Gorn. There's just something about those old Star Trek ships that still excites the imagination.

Tylmai, by John Beech, is a very beautiful ship set. Star Empire of Romii, also by John Beech, is really nice, too.

I haven't played the Ixaris shipset, but I always thought it was a beautiful set of colors.

I would go with the Norak, but I think my first favorite is the CueCappa shipset. Maybe it's for no other reason than that the CueCappa were my favorite face when I first loaded and started playing the game. And they are purple too!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

What a dunce!! The Yanerian shipset is a big favorite of mine! I know they are only the Xiati shipset, but the combination of bright and blurriness makes them another top choice of mine!!

3) Angelican Regency (alot of detail John, but I like #2 better. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif )

2) Star Empire of Romii. Though the race info isn't exactly what I wanted (I don't know what happened there!), a nice shipset. Version 2 is much better than Version one. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Good job John!

And my number 1 shipset is.....

The Angelican Reich shipset. Not out to the public yet though. Definately different from my old Regency shipset, darker, more war-like. Not even completed yet (almost). It's being done by RJB, who also did the Go'uld shipset.

i just need a good light renderer... i was thinking of using something like autocad to do them... that way i could actually render them nicely, and have a rough size/detail correlation to actual tonnage

Don't know about his other shipsets. Either they're already out, or they're comming out after mine. He's been working on mine for awhile.

It is always nice to see a thread like this once and a while.

I like the Stock set Xiati the best for sets that came with the game. But all of them are really good.

I also like all of the B5/WingCommander/StarTrek sets.

There are so many sets out that it is hard to pick one that I like the most. But if I had to pick one, I'd have to go with the Starwolf by Atrocities. (Latest Version 2002)

I think they are simply the best fit for me.

Ships on the other hand very detailed. lottsa little fiddily bits around the edges
