Eclipse Mod

This is my first mod release. It is in the beta stage and may have a few bugs. Please download and give me your feedback. The file is large because i have not yet thinned it out. It is 45mb now but it includes new sounds and graphics and 2 original shipsets. I cannot figure out how to upload files yet so you can access the file here:

Comments or suggestion are welcome If need be you can contact me here:

Re: Eclipse Mod

I need to put a hold on the downloads for a moment. I really need to know how to upload because my modem cannot handle outsiders accessing large files. Please help ASAP!

Re: Eclipse Mod

i found a thread. its called how to upload files to the mod forum.
this was suicide junkie's reply to the question.
--------------
There is a tiny text link "File upload form" where you normally would see "File Uploading is not allowed in this forum."

Click that, and it will pop up an upload window.
------------
but it doesnt seem of much help, sorry.

Re: Eclipse Mod

didnt fit. I hit the size limit. Im chopping it into 2 seperate file downloads. That aught to fix the problem.

Re: Eclipse Mod

Don't include the Image Mod files in your zip. The point of the Image Mod is so that people download and install it once, not with every mod. It is a huge waste of bandwidth and people's time to include the image mod files in your mod. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Re: Eclipse Mod

In fact, you don't even need any pictures in your mod directory. Install the Image Mod into your standard directory; the game looks there for files when they're not in the mod directory.

Re: Eclipse Mod

I changed too many images. Soon I will go through and remove all the unnessecary files but for now, if I dont add the files, there will be a lot of blank pictures. Unless there is some other way to do it?

Fyron January 27th, 2003 10:16 PM

Re: Eclipse Mod

Why don't you add new images instead of changing existing ones? That way, you can submit those new images to the image mod. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: Eclipse Mod

Here is the new Eclipse Mod download file. It has been reduced in size. Do not use the previous downloads. This new download requires the entire image mod so make sure that you have it. Sorry for the lack of readme or credits. It will be added soon.

Where is this Image mod everyone is writing about? I tried a search, but I only saw mentions of it in the Messages. Where can I download this mod from?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Kevin, I've been enjoying your new mod. But I was wandering, what would happen if I added some more races in the races folder? Would I have to modify their AI, or is that taken care of elsewhere in the mod?

Fyron February 6th, 2003 10:18 PM

Re: Eclipse Mod

The new races probably would not research any of the "advanced" technologies, until they had finished everything else in their research file. And, they would have problems designing any ships once they got any piece of "advanced" technology. You could copy the research and ship design AI files from a different AI folder into the new race's folder (renaming them as appropriate), and it might work decently.

Re: Eclipse Mod

You can add whatever race files you want. They probably wont use any of the new techs. Even the ones I included do not use the new technologies. Except the Chillians. Even then I am not fully satisfied with the outcome. I am awful with AI editing. I do not like it so I play against humans as often as possible. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
