DEATHSTALKER'S FINAL MOUNT MOD (Gold Version 1.4)

EDIT: UPLOAD ERRORS CORRECTED.
Edit: Engine errors corrected, typo corrected, new torp mount (long range).

Notes/etc:

This will be the final upload of my mount mod for the forseeable future. It has alot of changes (and yes, tonnes of mounts ). Most notibly the Gatling mounts have been re-balanced to make them less than the uber-weapons they were.

Additions:
Engine Mounts (Civilian/Merchant/Military)
Robo-Miner Mounts (with levels)
Short and Long range Missile Mounts (with levels)
removal of key overpowered mounts and rebalance of tech levels on a few mounts.

Comments as always are welcome, hopefully you will like this one .

A final note on the Long/Short range missile mounts. Yes I know, you can NOT affect the range or damage of the seeker itself with mounts, these mounts instead affect the range at which the seeker is launched. Either eliminating the time the target has to 'missile dance' (short range) or firing before the target enters range (Long range) so there is less time to target impace (ie , weapon platforms that can't move anyway). Hopefully they will be useful (I think they will )

A personal note about my prolonged absenses from this forum.

Yes I'm burnt out. (lol, a little). Happens with every game I buy (though this one took a LOT longer to burn out on). I will still be around as this is still my homepage but I won't be doing much in the way of se4 'output'. At least for now. I will keep the mount mod up to date and as always my e-mail is open for any questions or comments (as are my PM's). Its been a bLast guys, this game and this forum are great (the best community on the web IMO) but other things are calling for my time (life/work/marrige/MTGO http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif amoung other things). I look forward to the next releases in the Space Empires family (may the frandchise live long and prosper http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ) This is not so much a good-bye as it is a ' I'll see you in a bit'.

This is way cool!

I had NO IDEA that mounts could be made for other component families like engines and shields. This changes everything.

ALERT!

Seems I goofed, uploaded the file and there was the dreaded 'double space error' in the txt file. This has been fixed (as well as the errors in the Warhead mounts for II and III). New upload has replaced the old, please let me know of any other problems.

Yeah, it's an easy fix. Caught it when I looked at the in-game listed abilities for the SRM 2 and saw that code bit added on at the end of the previous line.

By the way, I really enjoy your mount mod (one of my personal favorite mods), and I look forward to the new twists in your current Version (the various engine mounts look especially nice). The civil motor mount can be used for all systems, not only motors.

So it is easy to get some "cheap" ships.

Great mod! I love it. Great work! I have been using this mod and it is great that it works with other mods so well.

I don't mean any disrespect, but I did find another typo that would prevent 3 mounts from working, though.

The Fighter Warhead Mounts I, II & III are applicable to family 2056 (typo, there is no 2056), should be 2506.

This is easily edited until the next revision so no biggie.

yes, I noticed that also. But I just coudn't reduce myself to put some 15kt organic armor3 for a 300 resistance.....

Re-uploaded mod again. Engine errors have been corrected (as have fighter warhead mounts, ty). SRM2 mount has been fixed (extra words removed), and a new Torpedo Mount has been added (Extended Range) {might tweak later}.

Hope everyone finds this modd useful, I especially would like peoples opinions of the Robo-Miner mounts, Shield mounts and Missile mounts. Are they worthwhile?, do you use them?. What do you like/hate about this mod?

Using them now in a massive FQM/TDM game with 255 systems, 19 AI, dense paradise, mid tech, high tech cost, one planet, only colonize own planet type, no ruins. My starting position was terrible, but I managed to survive by using robo-miner sats in the obscenely rich asteroid fields found in many of my systems.
Shield mounts are very, very nice, though the AI doesn't ever seem to use them, which is unfortunate, and gives a huge advantage to the human player. Same with armor mounts.
Missile mounts seem fun, but I've yet to get the required tech to use them very much. Once I do, I'll be sure to let you know.

The only mount which I don't like so much is the Gauss Rifle mount. DUCs get hosed in SEIV from the get-go, IMO. Something which is supposed to vastly increase the velocity of the projectile (giving it a longer range) should also increase the damage, not decrease it. Maybe if you could increase damage, say, 20% and/or make it skip armor (armor piercing).

I love this mod. Great work http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif . One question however -- there's an "alternate" Version floating around out there that gives the AI stronger crystalline and organic tech. Is there an updated Version of that around?
