Re: Mopping up the AI

If your enemy is weak, then take one of its planets and order him to surrender.
System destroyers are expensive but useful if your enemy has strong systems.

Mopping up the AI

In my current game i'm nr 1 in everything. I'm busy construction a ringworld and sphereworld and i'm expanding my fleet. Now, i was wondering what the best (quickest) way is to mop up the remaining ai factions (TDM+FQM)
I think a sun destroyer would be ideal for this although i have never built one before.
If you destroy a sun in a system, is your ship also destroyed?

Re: Mopping up the AI

Yes it is. Same for Black hole creation.

Nucleonic disruption torpedo which disrupts all nucleonic reactions in a star, destroying it. The resulting explosion will destroy all planets and ships within the solar system.

Re: Mopping up the AI

So mopping up will be quite expensive as the star destroyer is destroyed together with the star and the system. Well, as i'm building ringworlds the cost will be no factor anymore so i'll start building the sun destroyers.

But why bother ? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif
Declare yourself a champion and start a new game ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Mopping up the AI

Well the alternative is to mash individual planets individually with re-usable ships. Planet busters will do the trick, or loads of planetary napalm. Alternatively, hike up your score by building some big, expensive ships and then see if you can get a domino surrender.

Re: Mopping up the AI

Domino surrenders won't work against TDM races; some of them have surrenders turned off.

If you're powerful enough to build ringworlds and sphearworlds, why not just build a fleet of baseships and wipe them out? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: Mopping up the AI

Baseships move so slow. I think i'll just build a huge fleet of APB DN's and strike planet after planet and meanwhile construct a sun destroyer to kill the systems that are hard to kill.

Just a thought: if i don't destroy the systems, i better place a spy sat in every system to see when other races start to colonize the cleaned systems. Otherwise they could just follow me around and start colonizing every system that i clean.

This is why the victory condition "3x score of 2nd player" is good to have always on. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Try the surrender. Keep trying every turn. I am sure most races will sooner or later give up (in your case this should't Last more than 10-15 turns).

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">As TerranC wrote, most the TDM had the options:

Will Accept From Friend Demand your surrender := False
Will Accept From Enemy Demand your surrender := False

Will try to answer both questions.
TDM-Modpack means Tampa-Dynarr-Mephisto Modpack.
It's a Mod that has improved AIs (a lot more strong that the standard AIs), withouth change other elements in the game.

Master Belisarius:

Thanks. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif This is going to save me a lot of time. I just begun editing those AI TXTs. There are so many MODs and for a newbie it's hard to say which is the one he looks for.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ahhh this I did not know, that is why with 3 fleets over the lone HW they STILL will not give up! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

The TDM is a great source to learn how to create good AI scripts... I have learned myself looking the first TDM races, doing trial and error and exchanging ideas with other modders.
