Random SE:IV Art...
Greetings!
I've been browsing through the graphic 'archives' on my computer today and found some stuff I thought would be fun to post: http://members.rogers.com/capt-kwok/...rup-enoki1.png http://members.rogers.com/capt-kwok/...rup-enoki2.png This was to be the 'Enoki Class' escort of the Juprup Federation shipset I was working on for a bit, and still might finish. If you've been around for a few years in the SE:IV community, you might remember my first SE:IV website when I was Capt Spoogy, the Spoogy Federation Database. It featured my first and only shipset I've finished and served as the inspiration behind this one. An interesting note is that the ships are actually based on a couple of physical models I made for a 'home' movie back in the mid-ninties. The site is still up but hasn't been updated in almost two years. However, I think I might resurrect it in some form in the future. |

Here are some more samples of different 'Juprup' concept ships I made.

They're not to scale in the pictures above, but the destroyer is about 1.5 times longer. Also, I used the same textures on the destroyer from the escort as I never got to making properly fitted ones for it. At the time, the escort was called the 'Enoki' class (hehe) and the destroyer was deemed 'Goopak' class. [ April 09, 2003, 13:52: Message edited by: Captain Kwok ] |

Here are a couple more 'concept' ships I made for different forms of Captain Kwok's race.

The Geezoids were actually the true race that Captain Kwok belonged to, well at least when I created him back in the day. The ship on the right is a 'Rukbat' escort, basically I thought Rukbat sounded more serious that Geezoid for Captain Kwok. However, neither shipset panned out. The escort is also a low quality render, it seems I don't have the textures left anymore, just this old image. If you are keeping count, Captain Kwok has been a Geezoid, Rukbat, and now Juprup, not to mention a honorary Federation citizen. Who knows what is next? |

i remember asking long, long ago.. what happened to the spoogey federation? i submitted your name to the old fan site listings, because the spoogy federation was mighty. we used to get weekly (daily?) Spoogy Federation News!
but no more. my hopes and dreams lie shattered. there is nothing left of me, save for a burt out shell of a man. i am lost, and have no great space empires fan mods to fall back on. for i have already played out the popular ones, and the spoogy mod is denied to me. alas, all great things come to an end.. for only in great endings, do ... nevermind. |

I use Moray and POV-Ray. I tried Doga a while back, but didn't like it so much. I used to have lots more different ships (a made a few for a Terran race and some other non-Kwok stuff), but I deleted them some time ago (why?) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Cool stuff. So if this set was never finished, what's that shipset I have on my hard drive with a fluffy white cat in uniform as the race portrait? I thought that was your spoogy set...

The raised looked is done by creating a bevel around the window, easily done with Photoshop. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif If you look closely at the most recent ships, you'll notice I've been putting in little details from SE:IV. On the first images I posted, you can see a pseudo-shield generator behind the bridge module. Also, the small white 'hatches' are escape pods, plus on the bottom of the front hull there are two thrusters (cannot be seen in either picture) that run on little tracks. They're for thrust vectoring. |

Here are the 'Enoki' escort and now 'Nomak' frigate ships, they are to scale. http://members.rogers.com/capt-kwok/...rup-enoki1.png http://members.rogers.com/capt-kwok/...rup-nomak1.png You'll notice that the Frigate is approximately the same length (~50m) but has a much larger forward hull and an upper weapons pod that make up most of the overall size difference. Can anyone guess what weapon the 'Nomak' is armed with? |

Here is the 'Goopak' class destroyer. It's not to scale with the previous ships but you can get a sense of size from the windows.
Edit: Ok, I added a second picture comparing the size of the 'Goopak' with an 'Enoki' escort. http://members.rogers.com/capt-kwok/...up-goopak1.png http://members.rogers.com/capt-kwok/...up-gooenok.png You may notice that I added more details to the nacelles.
