Shipset Opinion
I've been tinkering around with an idea for another shipset, and I just wanted some of you opinions on it. Here is the first ship that I have assembled for it (background added for eye-candy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif ):
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/newup...1052049345.jpg</IMG> It's originally from a table-top RPG I've been working on (it's nice to finally be able to put pictures to bland descriptions http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ). In that game, it's a "Scorpius-class Bulk Freighter," but it's most probably going to be the Large Transport ship image for the SEIV Version. Like I said, tell me what you think..the SEIV Version is still in the concept phase http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif . |
Re: Shipset Opinion
Love it.
Consider keeping the background. (There was a large debate on this. No need to rehash it. I like eye candy.) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |
Re: Shipset Opinion
I like it, it has a good texture on the hull and the engines are cool. For some reason i'm intrigued to what it would look like the other way round with the engines at the back. But this looks cool http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Shipset Opinion
Looks good. Looking forward to seeing more. You can never have too many SEIV shipsets. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Looks like a scorpion

Regardless, it looks pretty good. I like "dark" ships (silver, gun-metal-grey, black, etc.) or "lively" colors. Keep going and post some more "eye candy". |
Re: Shipset Opinion
Looks super to me.

Re: Shipset Opinion
Gotta love that tight texturing. Very nice.

Re: Shipset Opinion
I like it, and I like the eye candy background . . . I think I'm gonna add backgrounds to my ships now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Unless you want the engines faceted, you maybe could turn up the effective faces on those splines/add smoothing (assuming its splines) Beautiful textures, btw. I always have trouble with textures myself. |
Re: Shipset Opinion
This was my first attempt at using the bump/glow and other texture features in DOGA. I used part of the Nebula10 picture from FQM-Deluxe for the background...I wanted something a bit more interesting than a flat black for this image http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif . It was interesting to render an image of something that had before existed solely as ink on paper http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif .
The original concept had the engines forward, but in a different configuration. The ship's class got it's current name when I moved the engine pods to their current position and arranged the removeable cargo sections to the trailing hull. BTW, this is a human-built ship..so if/when I put an AI onto the (eventually) completed shipset, it's not going to have some of the niftier racial traits (organic/temporal/etc.) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif .
