Rats!

I cannot attack a planet with tachyon canons!!!!

Quick, I need to design, build and deploy another type of ship..... soon.

Re: Rats!

Sure you can. They can target ships and planets...

I have never used Tachyon cannons, so I can't help you there, but I wanted to tell you that I love your signature.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Who said the second one?

Re: Rats!

Tachyon Cannons only destroy weapons, though. It'll be hard to find a weapon platform small enough to destroy in a single shot with a tach cannon http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Rats!

Also, since WP's are units, they do not have a component damage model, which means that damage types that target specific components will not work. (Either that or they are treated as normal damage... I'm not sure... would be fun to wipe out a planet with fighter mounted Small Shield Depleters - god look at the damage/kT ratio on those babies http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ) If the former, then Tachyon Cannons are COMPLETELY USELESS against planets and they should really be set to target ships only... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Wait a second ! Are we talking about Tachion Cannons or Tachion Projection Cannons ? There is a HUGE difference here. And if you can explain it in scientific terms, that is a one sign you play SEIV too much http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: Rats!

Er, Small Shield Depleters? they're awful! They're only a bit better than the next component, and since they're shields only . . . better to use something a little less powerful that actually deals real damage.

interestingly, the TDB really shines as a small component - in fact, the racial weapons in general just seem to have very good small Versions.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Umm, Tachyon Cannons are temporal weapons that are direct fire normal damage...Tachyon Projection Cannons are Only Weapons and useless on planets... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

In another game I know *wink* they're shield piercing?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It was Twain. Much too witty for Lincoln who was generally more rhetorical in his turns of phrase.

Oh, and about the Tachyon cannons not working...have you tried attacking a planet with a Massive Planetary Shield Generator? Might work then...

Its at times like these that one needs an actual reference book that has been fact checked and edited.
