looks interesting. wonder where it takes off? Last i saw of starbuck, and all of the episodes might not have aired on that channel, he was stuck on a planet with no way off.

Last i saw of starbuck, he was male! and so was boomer. did they kill the originals of for good?
reimagine? if they mess this up, to quote a warcarft 3 character 'IT'S HAMMER TIME!'.

Re: Battlestar Galactica

Actually heres the premise. It takes place right before the attack of the 12 tribes. The viper ship was just created by the colonials. Starbuck is a girl, and its supposed to launch the new series. They are redoing it so its going to be done over the series. I think they are trying to get some of the old stars to guest star in future episodes.

Starbuck's a girl? Oh my. This does irreperable damage to a whole boatload of my adolescent fantasies. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

You know, I could see Apollo being a girl. He was always kind of a wuss. But Starbuck? Come on now folks.

Although, it might be kind of hot if the new Starbuck still has a thing for Casseopeia. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif growl http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Well, if nothing else, let's hope that there's enough ships portrayed to make a decent shipset of 'em. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Re: Battlestar Galactica

Actually I kind of like what I have seen of what they are doing with the show. I know a lot of people are complaining, but I think it's misguided. I was a huge fan of the original series, but I was ten at the time. My judge of quality writing was not that great. I got a chance to catch some of the original series on TV a few months ago, and frankly it was barely tolerable to watch. The only thing keeping me was the sense of nostalgia. The characters were very two dimensional, the situations were unbelieveable, and the dialogue was very 70's. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

The series really needs a fresh take if its going to be done at all. You couldn't really pick it up where the original left off, that ground ws pretty much poisoned with the Galactica 1980 spinoff. And if you were just going to do the original all over again with different actors, what's the point?

I for one am looking forward to it.

Mormons in Space: the Return

Not that there's anything wrong with that. There have been a couple of other films that have arguably Mormon influences, though they seem to be mockeries. And the LDS seem to have their own movies, but those aren't meant for general audience, like Battlestar Galactica.

....

Western Socio-Religious Groups regularly get representation in film, so I've no objection (though some can be difficult to interpret). I guess it just seems odd, not what an unbeliever would expect from the LDS.

Starbuck a girl huh? I know a woman who likes to pretend she's Starbuck at Sci Fi conventions. She's very butch and would love some of that Casiopiea action.
In no way does this mean I admit to going to Sci Fi conventions!

I just hope they leave out that robotic dog monkey and that little kid with the bowl haircut.

What next, a remake of Buck Rogers or Land of The Lost?

I don't know about the kid, but the creator's said in an interview there is definetly NOT going to be a daggit. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

They already did a Land of the Lost, didn't they. Saturday Mornings, five-to-ten years ago, Father, kids, rubber suited bad guys with glowing crystal set-things, and an SUV.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I suggest that we should learn that the Colonial race actually metamorphs from one sex to another as they mature, which would give a ground-breaking new use for "morphing" video technology. That way, as the series progresses to the point of the Cylon attack, the female pilots would have slowly morphed into the original actors.

I watched the original...as Geo says, it was OK for the time. Dykstra (or some similar spelling) was pulled in for special effects (or I could be wrong).

Last year at Dragn*Con, I think, there was a booth by Richard hatch (?), and several models of the ships for the new series. I think one of them was around 6 feet long.

Re: Battlestar Galactica

Well from what I have come to understand is that its going to be familiar only through some of the background information like the ships, the cylons, the culture, but as far as the character and story it will be totally new and improved and the story so far that i have read should be quite engaging...they base it as more of Babylon5 type story arc than that of Star Trek.

Muffit? ugh hehe next thing you know you'd want tweeky from Buck Rodgers in the 25th century. What the heck did you see in that stupid motorized dog? which coincidentally they enslaved some poor midget/dwarf/small person. Heh I dont condone your choice of characters http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

it always looked like electric moters to me. i mean, you'd just need a remote control and it was probably light. besides, even if it was an actor, by taking the job, they volunteered. so i don't see what the problem is. acters in suits are probably usually uncomfortable and hot.

Yeah it was some dang chimpanzee, And I bet as soon as the cameras stopped rolling and the ASPCA made the producer to get that chimp out of the "Daggit" costume, it was feces throwing time!!

And "Boxey" the kid probably ended up on E! Hollywood story about poor child actors. And how they can't act again.
