Hi USA Players,

The genesis of this thread was the request of a team of Lithuanian players looking for a team game against another country. All other tangents (worthy as they be) aside, that is still the only objective.

Unless someone else wants the job, I will act as the single point of contact (not leader!) for the USA team. Thanks in advance for your patience and good sportsmanship.

Gryphin has agreed to be the GM for this game (Thank you Gryphin!)

Per the Lithuanians’ request, the game settings stand as follows:

Max Players: 12 (6 versus 6)
Turn duration: 36 hours
Turn automation: After Last player upload only (at least for the summer)
SE4 Version: Stock v1.84 (Gold Patch 3)

Starting resources: 20000
Starting planets: 3
Home planet value: Good
Score display: Allied
Technology level: Low
Racial points: 3000
Quadrant type: Mid-Life
Quadrant size: Large
Event frequency: None
Event severity: N/A
Technology cost: Medium
Victory conditions: Last Alliance Standing
Maximum units: 5000
Maximum ships: 5000
Computer players: None
Computer difficulty: N/A
Computer player bonus: N/A
Neutral empires: None

All other settings are game defaults.

Pablo has stated “Here we wanted to try a team only game where the team chooses one person for diplomacy, one for research management, one for defences etc.”
We do not have to follow this play convention/philosophy – it is simply how the Lithuanians plan to approach the game from their end.

If everyone is still interested, I will contact Pablo and Gryphin to get the game set up. Please post your acknowledgements in this thread, as it is our only common ground at this time.

Gandalph, I have asked the Lithuanian team if they want to expand the game to 7 players per team.

OK team, we are waiting on Gryphin to set up the game. Looks like we will have 14 players total (7 vs. 7).

Discussions of tactics, strategies, etc will need to move off this public forum to some other medium. We need an Online forum that we can keep private or will need to rely on email. Any thoughts?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">IMO, the in-game diplomatic messaging system is awkward and frustrating to use effectively - especially for team play. I really would like the team to commit to email-only communication or an Online web forum.

With seven of us, as long as each of the major racial techs gets picked by someone, and we spread out the planet types pretty evenly, we should be alright. I will be hosting a SEIV PBW game for us. The sole purpose of that “game” will be to provide us with a private team forum. It will be called… USA Team Forum. I will post here when I have it set up.

In the mean time, think about how you would like to divide the following:

Hmm... if I had the time, I would have joined the Lithuanian team. I do a lot to discredit the USA. Besides I love Eastern Europe, my GF comes from there.

The other thread got hijacked by the "SEIV Olympics" crowd for awhile. In reality, Pablo simply wanted another team to play against. I started this thread to recruit a USA team outside of the "noise" the Olympians where generating on the other thread. My goal was to meet Pablo's actual request - a team composed of a players from one other country (USA) to play a team vs. team game against Pablo's team (Lithuanians).

Pablo's thread has now returned to that original intent. Gryphin, Pablo, and I are now using it to set the game up.

After recruiting the required number of USA players, this thread became the USA team's thread for intra-team communications.

So, yes, they (the 2 threads) are the same game at this time, but one is basically the game admin thread (admin + each team's contact person) and this thread is for the USA team.

Due to real life issues, Rojero will not be joining us for the Lithuania vs USA Challenge. We can either play with six or try to recruit another USA player. Any thoughts?
