want to see a movie. recomendations?

i've already ruled out The league of extraordinary gentlemen because i don't like mr. hyde or vampires, but there's still Hulk, Matrix 2, Terminater 3 and Pirates of the caribean. is it out yet?. so, what does anybody have to say? good, bad, did i miss any movies that someone thinks are good?

Terminator 3 was okay IMHO. No where near as good as T2. The effects where great, of course, and the chase scene was incredible. Worth the money, time, and trip, but not worth the Terminator license

Re: want to see a movie. recomendations?

The Italian Job was good.
T3 was good, but there were a lot of plot holes. Like how in the hell did three armed people get access to a top secret Air Force base? And how did the Arnold get from the base to the air port so fast when the two kids took forever and they left first? And when they explained how SkyNet worked in the end, just before the cities blew up. Think about that for a second they blew up..... No more personal computers??????

The Hulk, I liked the way the movie looked, the acting was ok, but the Hulk just looked too CGI for me. And I have never seen a Comanche manuver like that.

I am looking forward to the Pirate of the Caribbean and the the movie with Russle Crow in it.

Matrix:
Pooh Star - Loved It for story line and action
I liked one scene where everyone was dancing. I thought the rest was ...so so.
I expect most people will say it was worth the money to see it.

Re: want to see a movie. recomendations?

Lord Kodos: Ugh...I was rather disappointed in T3. It seems to have lost some of its...humanity with the new director taking over. Cameron gave it that extra pathos and emotional depth that this movie just doesn't come anywhere near. Feels very mechanical in its approach. Tries to be too funny and "cute" with the Terminator lines in spots.

Nice visuals and stunts/chases, but not much else here really, IMHO. T1 and 2 were much better.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">WHY?!?! You don't need to see it for any reason other than Sean Connery is in it, and he's always a bad @$$, and that makes up for whatever other faults you find with the movie. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

Re: want to see a movie. recomendations?

I have seen 10 movies so far this year:

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle
Matrix Reloaded
X2: X-Men United
Bulletproof Monk
Cradle 2 the Grave
Shanghai Knights
Daredevil
Antwone Fisher
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

I would say Terminator 3 was the best, followed by Shanghai Knights, then Matrix Reloaded, then X-Men 2.

If anything 28 Days Later seems to me like Resident Evil 2.

Dont get me started on the entire Survival-Horrer game Genre. To paraphrase Penny Arcade: Survival Horror basically amounts to "Things will jump at you from windows"

Lol. Although I heard RE was fairly decent, and the guy who did the music for it did do the music for Invader Zim.

And yeah, T2 is still the best, with good ol' Mercury Man. lol.

If you are looking for a movie that makes you think, is fun, but doesn't have a lot of violent action (some but not a lot), and you can get past the Disney label, I would recomment Holes. I took my kids to see it, and loved it. Lots of plot twists and convoluted interactions. I suppose it is a bit dated now, I don't get out to the movies much, but if it is still out, I highly recommend it.

Re: want to see a movie. recomendations?

I saw T3 and Matrix II. I thought they both offered some good action sequences... in fact, they were both pretty close to being non-stop action sequences. I thought neither were as well-done, in non-action terms, as the films before them in their series. But if you want some impressive action sequences, both are good for that. I'd probably prefer T3 to M2.

I've only seen ads of The Hulk and am already sick of it. I can't stand ultra-fake-o computer animations whose physics stink, nor the annoying corporate brand-name hype assault. For example, my local grocery store, owned by the vile Kroger empire, is trying to sell Hulk muffins and even an entire Hulk cake for like $25! I'd much rather watch an old Super Friends cartoon (not to mention an old Buggs or Road Runner cartoon).

I think Sean Connery has only gotten better and better as he has gotten older, it will be sad when he is no longer doing movies. I am looking forward to watching the LXG.

Ohh, Last weekend I was over at a friends and saw what must be the very worst Bond movie ever. I can't remember the guy that took over for Connery but he was lame, no wonder Connery came back for the next movie.

Re: want to see a movie. recomendations?

so, to recap, t3 only good for action, matrix 2 only good for action, no comments for pirates and hulk only good for action. this is depressing. i mean, all three movies have potiential coming out there ears for character development. someone mentioned 'that movie with russel crowe in it', which ones that?
is shanghai knights still in theatre's? cause the advertisements looked good.

Yes. I mean, without a SkyNet, there can be no Terminators.

let me get this straight, Fallout 2 which came by '96 or '98 (i forget which) had SkyNet which was a part of the full picture.

Is SkyNet is an actual military super-computer? (cuz thats what it was there - found at Sierra Military Base http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif ) or is it an invention?

Thats WAY OT but i wanna know.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It is depressing, but that's Hollywood these days, for the most part.

I didn't think T3 or M2 were _bad_ in other ways - they had a few good points and Hollywood has done FAR worse. But someone could have done a lot better. They really should have had Cameron write and direct T3, I think, judging from the weak points compared to T & T2.

As for The Hulk, I think if they were going to animate it like a superball, they should have invented a new character called Superball Man. Then it'd be slightly fresh and the animation would make more sense.

Re: want to see a movie. recomendations?

Note: Movie spoilers...

Actually I thought that the portrayal of The Hulk in the movie in terms of looks and abilities was actually pretty close to the comics. And even if the actual details of the plot differ from the comics, the spirit of it remains pretty faithful.

As for Matrix Reloaded, I think most people here are underestimating it. Certainly, in some ways, it lacks the visual power of the original (no M2 equivalent of a scene as instantly memorable as the lobby shootout scene), but the plotline is interesting in many ways and makes some rather intriguing references, i.e. Merovingian, Seraph, calling rogue programs werewolves, vampires etc.

Besides, who can forget:

“I have sampled every language, french is my favorite. Fantastic language, especially to curse with. Nom de dieu de putain de bordel de merde de saloperie de connard d’enculé de ta mère.”

I wasn't a Hulk fan before I was bombarded by the latest Hulk hype, and I'm not a huge CGI movie fan either, so I guess I'm not really the target audience.

I thought most of the Matrix 2 effects were quite good. Good enough to recommend it to action fans for those sequences. I just thought it could have been better done in terms of pacing, timing, direction, mystery, suspense, plot, exposition. Though as I said, it had some good points too. Same sorts of feelings towards T3.
