OT: Strange Things
I have no way of saying this without showing it to you. A while back I took a digital picture of my cat while she was laying on my bed. I then set it as my wall paper and never really gave it a second thought. Tonight I was looking at it and noticed something in the reflection of her eye.
This is were it gets really weird. There is a face being semi reflected in her eye. It is not me, nor is it any one I know as I was alone in the room at the time I took the picture. I sware to god it is not me, nor is it a digital manipulation or in any altered image. This is really freaky. I recall reading something as a child that cats can see the dead, but that is just plain dumb. Or is it? You be the Judge Ghost Image [ July 23, 2003, 09:08: Message edited by: Atrocities ] |
Re: OT: Strange Things
I see.
Well, if you believe in it, cats are amongst the few animals that have direct contact with the spirit world - they can see all the spiritual things that happen in your home. I can give you several things about their behavior that can help you. Either way, if this disturbs you, get a priest or a medium -- one you believe is true -- to look over your apartment or house. This is, if you believe in such stuff. I also remember hearing of some ways to get rid of spirits (i was kinda interested in that several years ago) so i can try to remember if you want. i can also ask somebody. |
Re: OT: Strange Things
The sick thing is we have always suspected that the place was, *insert pause* haunted to some degree given all the bad luck that has occured here. This is just so strange to see a face in the reflection of a cats eye that it should be made into a scary movie. It made my fine neck hair stand up on end.

Re: OT: Strange Things
I see a face like figure. Do i believe in ghost or haunted houses? No. I do believe that people can leave "energy traces" in some circumstances. Like being murdered. And i believe that some people can "detect" these energy patterns but i do not believe that such energy can really affect your life.
Look to you cats left eye: you also see a weird pattern there going from left to right. Sometimes things look spooky but aren't. I think this is such a case but for an explanation of what you see in that eye, i don't know. Edit: in the house i'm in now (i grew up here, moved somewhere else and then moved back), i had a closet. The closet was in the room where i slept. My sister also slept there. One night i woke up and i swear i heard something on the closet shouting at me. I started screaming and ran to my parents room and i didn't sleep there again until they put the closet on the attic. When i went up the attic, i always felt a chill down my spine and i could swear that the closet was watching me. Freaky. I know it was silly, yet when i think back of that closet. On of the first things i did when i moved back here was check to attic out to see if the closet was gone. I was. [ July 22, 2003, 10:49: Message edited by: minipol ] |
Re: OT: Strange Things
Hmmm... morning ... hmmm ... play by web ... email ... yawn ... coffee maker ... hmm ... Intel Forums ... what's Atrocities about now ... download ... image building ....
Wah! Giant cat! Demon eyes! What the ... Growltigga? ... no, a real cat. Wha... how did Atrocities change my wallpaper with a download ... *Ding* Ohh...coffee's ready Slurp. Ah. Life returns. Oh wait, that's not my desktop. Heh. Silly me. Cute cat. Resembles my long lost kitty. That eye reflects something. But with her eyes narrowed down to slits like that in the bright light, she most likely can't see it herself. [ July 22, 2003, 15:11: Message edited by: Arkcon ] |
Re: OT: Strange Things
Let me qualify my statement by saying I do not reject the existence of spirits.
But... I looked at the picture and I couldn't say that it looked exactly like a face. |
Re: OT: Strange Things
I ought to be possible to grab the cat's eye, filter out the specific colors of the eye itself, de-warp the image as a reflection projected onto a round surface (assuming a sphere should be safe enough). Then reverse the colors for greater contrast and we may have a better view of the issue.
Not that I'm the guy to do these things, but I know we have some photo-manipulators here... |
Re: OT: Strange Things
You could do that Loser, but you would lose any sort of image in the process. Assuming it's not Atrocities playing a joke on us, then it is just an optical illusion and not a real reflection. Doing all that manipulation to the image will eliminate the random bits and color variances that our minds are connecting together to make a recognizable pattern. Like when the "Mars Face" viewed from another angle becomes just another mountain.

Re: OT: Strange Things
That's a "Rorschach’s inkblot" as far as I can tell; it has whatever meaning you put in it. As you can see in the right eye (left in this image) you are taking a photograph of a cat looking at a window. That eye reflects what seems to be a pattern of shadows in or just outside your room. That same pattern continues across both eyes, which is why you see the inkblot in the darker left eye. Probably a tree, they tend to produce those kinds of shadows.
However, can you see the raw demonic world-destroying god-slaying power in my avatar photo? [edit:] Ooops, no avatar photo here yet. [ July 22, 2003, 13:55: Message edited by: Nocturnal ] |

Re: OT: Strange Things
Hmm... It looks more like a cartoonish face than a real one. Notice the "nose" and "mouth". I'd say it's an illusion - although a mighty cool one.
So Atrocities, did you change your wallpaper after this? |
Re: OT: Strange Things
The image in question has been intensely studied by the crack team of experts here at work. And we can report conclusively that it is a distorted image of an evil Ronald McDonald(TM) who has for some reason, changed his hair color to an unsightly grayish blue-green.
Your cat's compliance, in whatever nefarious schemes RM and the McD corp. are planning cannot be determined conclusively from her pose. However, she had better keep those ears primed, and a tight grip on all nine of her lives, because the Office of Homeland Conformity ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H Security will be watching. Her hair appears short, but she's not a Persian cat, or is she? [ July 22, 2003, 20:31: Message edited by: Arkcon ] |

Re: OT: Strange Things
I think it's nothing more than a reflection.
|
Re: OT: Strange Things
I sware to god it is not a digital enhancement or fake. My dad thinks it looks like a man, but definately not me.
Have ever gotten one of those feelings, usually right after the cat looks up at something that isn't there, and feel as if you are being watched? I do not believe in ghosts or UFO's but damn, this looks to real, to precise, to be an optical illusion, so what is it? |
Re: OT: Strange Things
yeah, cats and dogs can do that can't they. and sometimes, a dog who always like everybody doesn't like a certain person instantely. that's also creepy.
|
Re: OT: Strange Things
Well that's great. Now I feel creeped out and I can properly start my day on helpdesk...
"There are more things in heaven and earth..." That said I don't believe, I really just entertain the possibility. But that darn image did get under my skin. |

What can I say, caught in the act. Your cat is Thermolian http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

Re: OT: Strange Things
Ooh, that is really nifty.
Probably shadows of stuff in the bright sun. Do you happen to have a tree outside your window? Or just some miscellaneous items on that table near the window? PS: I see you've got everything on your desktop sorted into "SEIV" and "Crap". Hehehe http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |
Re: OT: Strange Things
while i believe that people have a soul and could walk around after there dead, i also think it's an inkblot.
cats that are looking at something are probably watching a dust mote or a fly to small to see. ok, i don't know this for sure, but people give off different smells depending on there emotions and cats and dogs can smell this. so, there's no cause to start thinking spirits yet. but if something does totally creep you out, get rid of it. you know that scene in ghost busters two where the baby carriage is pulled? our house had a bad feeling for weeks after that. |

The human mind craves order. It will find patterns where none exsist and create recognizable pictures from otherwise unrelated dots. Did you see the devil face in the smoke coming from the twin towers? It was a lot more clear of an image then your cat's eye here. So was the Mars face I mentioned before. That one still creeps me out even after I know what it is. Stuff like this happens all the time. It's interesting to look at and talk about, but it's very simple to explain really. Geoschmo |

Re: OT: Strange Things
Looks like a good one for "Art Bell" or what's that new fellow's name that replaced him? George Norrie's "Coast to Coast AM" I think. He gets a lot of calls from people in the Portland area.
I think Portland is a mecca for strange occurances, so it wouldn't surprise me about something odd with your cat. Mine have been spending alot of time sitting in front of the mirror starring off into something. It's funny, their eyes don't quite follow their own reflection. |
Re: OT: Strange Things
i think what should be done is someone should make a program to do comparisions and find out how close these inkblots are to a real thing and how close they are. after all, the inkblot interpretation is subject to human bias to. of course, the program would have built-in bias from the programmer's, but i think it would have less.

Re: OT: Strange Things
Heres another thought, could it be a face within a face? The upper protion looking like that of a normal human, the lower a distorted face of something else?
The sick thing is the more I look at it, the more the face looks familar. I wonder if I am being followed around by someone I killed, or worse, who killed themselfs because of me? Since I can not think any one that I would care to disclose of ever killing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif I am forced to think that I am being followed by some ghostly figure who wishes to do nothing but bring me bad luck and misfortune for something I ........ It is male looking isn't it? If not, then this could be, naw, it is to male looking to be her. Seriously, the face does kinda look familar. I just can't place it. It looks kinda like the actor who played Bud Bundy in Married with children.... I am watching that show now. The only thing that image can be is a bizzare light reflection. And not there are no trees out side of that window, they have all long since been cut down. There is no picture behind me, just a while wall, and there was no one else in the room at the time I took the image. I also video taped her and will be reviewing the tape for images. As I recall, she was acting very strange and that prompted me to tape her. Then I took the digital still to test out the digital camera on the Sony DV Cam. I should have a few more of her someplace, I wonder what they will reviel. I should have ran this topic as a pole, Ghose, Optical Illusion, Fake, Other. Illusion has my vote. And I joking about the killing thing, I wound not harm a any thing larger than a fly unless it threatened to eat or kill me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: OT: Strange Things
well, what im saying is what ive read. spirits and energies arent proven to exist. i dont believe in a certain thing, i believe there is *something*.
Now as for your cat, and your home - the best solution is to talk to a priest, to have them come and clear your house. I think i remember my parents telling me of someone they knew doing that - they lived well after that. Now realize it is also a very psychological thing - because even if there's nothing but you believe there is, there will be something. Im referring to the fact that a person convinced he's aflame will burst aflame -- etc. If you can calm that one it will go away. Bad bug, dont use psychology... |

Here are some ehnanced images of the eye. The more I look at it the more I get from it. 1. It could be a black man. (No offense, but look for yourself at the images) 2. It could be a man committing suicide. I know that is sick, but the distortion at the bottom could be the result of the trauma caused by something like a gun shot. Look in the cats eye to right and you'll see something else, something like a barrel of a gun. I really wonder what a cat sees. I would think being able to see dead people or things like this illusion depicts would be a curse far worse than any imaginable. Then again, this could simply be a trick of the light, but hey, it sure is an interesting topic. |

The really strange thing is why do you keep a shortcut to SEIV.exe when you have a shortcut to the ModLauncher ?

Remember that whatever this thing may be it's being reflected by a curved surface. Map that image to the inside of a sphere to undo the distortion and see what you get.

Re: OT: Strange Things
Hmm. the more i look at the pic the more it resembles an orc.

Re: OT: Strange Things
Quite frankly, I either just see blur, or the face of Elvis in your cat's eye.

Re: OT: Strange Things
Since I first looked at that image in the cat's eye, I have had this nagging feeling that I have seen that face somewhere before... and that feeling has bothered me and bothered me, and it wouldn't go away!
Well, suddenly, just now, I figured out where I saw that face before! It's the character "Afill" in the manga comics by Osamu Tezuka!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/newup...1059027437.gif |
